@Gibson Kellen Definitely, have been watching on kaldrostream for since december myself :D
Woke up to an hour plus long Bloke video notification, guess my car won't start this morning or maybe a flat tire, what ever my boss will buy this time. Hats off to Mrs Bloke and Chap for enabling this channel. And a tip of the hat to all of the other range widows out there, including my own.
You two eating fondue somehow remind me of Astérix chez les Helvètes. Thank you, all involved, for a good channel. Le Chap's videos in French are a great way to remember what school once taught me.
Cheers Mrs Bloke. Here's to the next 100,000 subs.
I don't know what your watching metrics indicate, but I am more than happy to stick around for long formats like this, or hiking around the réduit. Love it!
Wild OTHAIS appeared! 5:05
Started really getting into the channel when COVID started. You guys have a fantastic channel, full with so much info. Cheers from the States.
Hot tip! Lead with the Q&A portion and put the ‘state of the channel’ after! Cuts off in the dead and a lot of people are more inclined to watch a Q&A. Great work as always fellas!

I think the state of the channel is better first, because it's relevant to everyone. Whereas a number of the questions I don't feel are personally relevant or interesting to me.
A proper informative channel. Thanks for all the effort guys. Its appreciated
Thank you, Mrs. Chap
Thank you Mrs. Bloke! Thank you to you Mad Lads for all the great content!
Cheers on 100k not much one for comments but I really believe you guys are great so I’ll try to be more involved where I can, keep up the great work you guys are both awesome!
Glad to see another Q&A, as well as the 100k milestone achieved. Hope to see much much more!
While you two are quite relaxing to watch, I did not fall asleep watching this. My insomnia wins yet again!
Can't wait for more videos! Patiently awaiting more videos on Recoil Theory and the Strait Pull rifle series
Impressed with the content. Keep up the good work and enjoy the process.
Thanks Chap for the excellent video on frozen hardening. Helped bring sparks back to my EITC Bess.

Cheers and congrats. The cheese n spirits content is appreciated. Along with the honest comments about military bolt action accuracy.
Well done guys "chaps" I enjoy your videos immensely, thanks for putting in the time and effort. Richard from Canada.
Excellent! Thanks for the Q&A.... and then I look at the time... Oh crap I have a meeting in 5 hours... and I'm still wide awake!
I love this channel. Cheers, 200k for sure.
Congratulations, good luck and good health in theese infectious times
Just to help the algorithm, well done, especially to your respective Shelias. You've got to look after the good ones, you know.
Was glad to try the M3( A1) in Vegas sept. 2019. Found it surprisingly pleasant and accurate. Even on successive shots.
"Heavier and more targetty" That needs to be a widely used acronym HAMT.
Congrats on tha 100k subscribers. Keep up the great work 👍
Some videos on languages would be pretty awesome! When you get around to them that is. Keep up the good work y’all!
Congratulations.
A fine presentation, gentlemen. Wish I'd been there in person. I'm sure the "enhanced" fondue was excellent. And thanks for the comments regarding No.4 restoration. I have one that I've just started to work on and I'll certainly keep the advice in mind. And DEFINITELY looking forward to the Swiss in the world wars content. As a historian by academic training, it will be refreshing to get the full picture. BUT, that comment about .45 ACP being silly for an SMG... may the ghost of John T. Thompson haunt your nightmares! 😉
Cheers to Mssrs Bloke and Chap and all, congrats!
Cheers! Well done!
..congratulations...
watching this before breakfast, cant even get trough half before i have to pause and look up ingredients for fondue because now i must have it.
I went out and bought myself a nice swissmar fondue pot after watching this. I've had it for about a week now, and have already used it three times. Thanks for inspiration, haha
Yeah for 100K!
Great video guys thoroughly enjoyed it and fondue recipe very interesting
Well done, I love how your videos always have original content that are actually factually and experienced based. The combination of research, along with you own and anecdotal experience, rather than the lazy regurgitation of gun magazine “facts”, is refreshing and enjoyable. Why and under what circumstances were they produced? How were they intended to be used? What do primary sources say about how they performed and how they were received by those who used them?

I haven't watched it cos I expect it's full of the usual tropes from the post-90's English language literature on the subject. Did they mention the La Charité sur Loire incident? If not, they missed one of the 3 keys to understanding Switzerland's in WW2 (the others being absolutely import dependent for food and raw materials, particularly coal). Did they mention import dependence at least?
@jamietus1012
3 жыл бұрын
@@BlokeontheRange they didn't mention the incident to my memory, and I would have remembered that, but they did mention the import dependence. The negative stuff about Switzerland was predominantly about them buying nazi gold stollen from invaded countries when other neutrals refused (they did mention that Switzerland bought an equal amount of allied gold) and buying formerly jewish businesses. They talked about why Switzerland wasn't invaded and their explanation about swiss defences seemed accurate enough to me from your videos about it.

It was a shame the BOTR collaboration with WW2 didn’t work out. I would have liked to see that.
Congratulations on 100,000 subs.
Watched it all the way through, did need to pause for beer and toilet runs. Cheers!
Just to add, the point about the 'bootcamp' /RS, is it's done at the age of 20, not 18 unlike most other national service programmes, in order that you can do it after you've finished an apprenticeship (16-20) but before you enter the world of 'proper' employment. Same would apply for Durchdiener (not available when I was 20...). Hence the 'gap yah' requirement less of an issue, as you're effectively 'between jobs' anyway, depending whether or not your employer is taking you on following your apprenticeship. But in either case it's easier to plan for, than, say a TA reservist (or whatever they're called now) in the UK. How precisely it works if you stay on in school till 18 and do an Matura (A levels) and thence study at uni I've never bothered to find out. I skiddadled off to study in the UK and never received any paperwork 'inviting me' to attend RS... As for not bothering to 'learn' German and only speak Bernese, my English father took this view. And in his advanced years, it's become a pain, because he (claims) he can barely read his prescription, or understand what the nice German doctors are trying to tell him
@thebotrchap
3 жыл бұрын
Good point! I really like it that the apprenticeship path exists and that employment is not heavily Uni dependent. Wife can read German pretty well due to having Dutch in the brain box. It's just a grammar and vocabulary issue for speaking.

My understanding of the P14, it was designed for the general idea of the time, heavily reinforced by perceptions of the Boer War, that it would be long range accurate fire would be the decisive force of a future war. In that scenario a P14’s advantages are emphasized and disadvantages (particularly the bulk and mobility disadvantages) are minimized. Meanwhile the battles of 1914 showed that the SMLE was better suited to practical combat.
@BlokeontheRange
3 жыл бұрын
That's the P13, where they were even talking about an 800 yd battlesight range with a 7mm cartridge chucking 160 grains at 2800 fps. Same rifle with a calibre change was sent to the US for emergency WW1 as the P14.
Well done. 👍
Many of the Texas "Germans" (who date to the 1840s immigration waves) brought Schutzen with them. There were significant concentrations of Bavarians and Austrians in western Pennsylvania, and NW Ohio for just two who had a significant Schutzen tradition as well. It's an interesting question.
🍻
Watching later, Bloke and Chap. But comments help. So have one.
Sometime when I'm able to visit Switzerland it would be great to actually meet!
Congrats on 100,000 subscribers. Alsace is better than champagne too. ;)
Agreed The SADF M83 chest rig and assault vest are about as ally as it gets :). There’s a cracking photo of a Paratrooper in Kosovo that looks like Tom Hardy wearing one.
There is just so much to like about this. I love that it feels like I am sitting across the table from a pair of good friends having a leisurely chat (never mind that it's a long chat) while enjoying some fondue and spirits. I would like to ask a question about fondue in general: Is it properly just cheese and bread? Here in the US (at least in my experience), fondue is more of the overall concept of eating small chunks of various foods dipped in some liquid. It's more often hot oil than cheese here, which I guess could easily be attributed to us Americans having an incredible desire to deep-fry anything. I've seen chocolate fondue, with the dipped foods being fruits like bananas and strawberries, etc.
@BlokeontheRange
3 жыл бұрын
Fondue-proper is cheese and wine, with optionally cherry schnapps and garlic. Any other thing you're dipping something into is qualified, e.g. "fondue chinoise" which is dipping meat into broth. But your impression of the situation is not wrong!!!! :D
@Ashcrash82
3 жыл бұрын
@@BlokeontheRange thanks for the reply. So it seems fondue is just the dipping cheese itself, and doesn't have anything to do with whatever you happen to dip into it?
@BlokeontheRange
3 жыл бұрын
Fondue literally means "a melt", so refers to the cheese/wine mix. The use of the term to apply to other dishes in which no melting is performed clouds the issue :)
@thebotrchap
3 жыл бұрын
@@BlokeontheRange The US is not the sole custodian of oil based “fondue”. The “fondue bourguignonne” / Burgundian fondue which consists of a hot oil pan in which meat is dipped accompanied by sauces. It was a Swiss invention despite the name. I ate a lot of those in the 80s.

To messrs Bloke and Chap: when I was a clueless teenager without the internet, I made the grave error of free floating my K31. Very recently I decided to try to make things right again or at least better, and so I used an epoxy to build up the front of the stock bearing quite a lot then gradually worked it down to try to replicate the 3-5 pounds up-pressure that I'd learned about from watching your No.4 stocking up video. Have you heard of anyone doing this, and if so, did it help? I won't have the chance to shoot it in a good enough environment that makes better target shooting possible for quite a while, so I don't yet know if I made it potentially even worse or not. Thanks for potentially entertaining my question without me being a current patron supporter; I plan to, but in any event, please keep up the excellent and very analytical work you both do. Thank you

Going to high school in the US state of Maine, which borders on Québec and is about as far from Latin America as you can be in the contiguous United States, I had two foreign language choices: French or Spanish. Specifically _Parisian_ French or _Castilian_ Spanish, despite the fact that French Canada is _right there_ and Latin America, while far away, is at least in the same hemisphere. I went for Spanish, but alas can only remember one complete sentence now: _Cuántas tetas tiene una vaca?_ - which I think you may agree is not of too much practical utility. (It was a question in a game of Spanish _Trivial Pursuit_ we played in class one day. I got yelled at for asking it, until I could prove it was really what was printed on the card.)

Alternative propellant, caseless ammo and electric firing are all dead ends, unless you combine them? A caseless round with a high power fuel (eg like C4) that can be detonated electrically. Caseless ammo without having to be underpowered!
@SlavicCelery
3 жыл бұрын
Couple of issues with it all: good luck trying stronger propellants'. Caseless ammo is still relatively vulnerable to damage compared to standard cased ammo. Extraction can be a nightmare for misfires. Lastly caseless ammo has a MASSIVE problem with heat soaking the receiver in a very short length of time. The case (whether brass or mild steel), extracts a large amount of heat and dumps it out of the firearm. Heat management with standard firearms is already a potential issue especially with extended combat usage.
