STATE OF MIND with MAURICE BENARD: JOHNNY WACTOR (REPOST)

Ойын-сауық

EPISODE REPOST: This week I'm joined by Johnny Wactor. You may know Johnny best from his current role on as Brando Corbin on General Hospital.
Johnny has also starred in the tv series' Siberia, Hollywood Girl, and the mini series The Passenger. He's also had roles in series such as NCIS, Army Wives and Criminal Minds.
Today we talk about how similarly share having a 'rage' inside of us that we're able to tap into when acting and how it could stem from childhood. We also discuss the loss of our fathers and how that impacted us, before diving into Johnny's' most recent storyline on General Hospital.

General Hospital should've left this beautiful man alone and continued his storyline!!! His exit was seriously not necessary at all. How do u kill Sasha baby and kill her husband too!!! How much pain do u inflict on one very young woman who is just starting her life? It never made sense and we the viewers hated that crazy idea. His acting career was just starting. If he stayed where he belonged and where we all loved him to be, he would not have to be working in a bar just to pay for those crazy expensive rents in LA. I guess the bosses have to live with it. I can just imagine what Sasha from GH, is going through in real life now, that's why we have heard from everyone except her!! Real heartbreak for her, twice!! I liked it when he showed up on the show, becos Sonny has a relative on the show that seemed like he was going to stay longer, since he just got married to settle down.......sorry about my rant Mo, but that's how I've felt about this whole thing. Hope u convey to Frank Valentini. Oh well.

I agree that some of the storylines which involve the character dying are literally depressing and unbelievable. Soaps are supposed to be drama not a nightmare. Now going through this with Finn is torture. I watch to escape and enjoy not be stabbed in the heart. If Frank is the one making these plot decisions, he’s just doing them for shock value not the fun that i used to live with Susan lucci. I enjoy Sonny when it’s not another crazy personality change.

Johnnys with his dad now. Oh how wonderful that reunion was. God i wanna cry hearing him talk about his dad. I lost mine in 98. He spoiled me rotten. I became a severe alcoholic. Im 17 years sobriety. But i did his eulogy with a few shots of vodka. I always loved the song by Bette Midler. So did my dad. " Wind beneath my wings." Reciting part of that song made me bawl my eyes out. My oldest stood up at the podium with me. I was shaking. The 21 gun salute sent me over the edge. Hes buried with all the soldiers at the soldiers and sailors home. I sit on his grave when i go there and just talk to him. I miss him every day.

I also noticed the light behind him (which I thought was planned on your part). I never thought of it as a halo until your introduction to this replay. My dad passed away in 2019 abs 21 days before he passed he was able to do a podcast with a family friend. He always wanted to have his own show so he could tell all his stories from being a baseball coach to electrician to hunter to a family man. He spoke of his his mom would spank him with paddles and whip with a belt after his dad died when he was 12 and my grandma.. his mom said the sane thing to him as a child. This hurts me more than it hurts you. He said he was always worried about becoming a parent because he didn't want to do the same thing. But he wasn't like that at all. He broke the cycle. Im bipolar and dealing with my moods as a kid he was amazing and never hit me or my brother he said he wanted to have his own family be different. I wish he was alive still to have listened to this show. Thank you for all of these sites they seriously are so helpful. Much love and RIP johnny! Oh Maurice I am in tears. What an incredible heartfelt conversation between two friends who just happen to be actors. Hearing how Johnny struggled to do the work to find his inner peace and tame his beast was so enlightening. The talk about dads and forgivess was very powerful. I had an alcholic dad too. It was a tough child hood. Mom was very codependent. They did the best they could but it wasn't enough. My dad had just finished some serious treatment before he died of pancreatic cancer at age 64. The whys haunted me until i realized my dad was no longer suffering. How you were able to talk to your dad was truly a blessing. How Johnny was sorting out his struggles with his dad was a blessing too. Your tips for Johnny's acting future really crushed me. He would never get to use them. I am sure someone out there needed to hear that for their career or just coping with life. So sorry for the loss of this beautiful soul. He too is no longer suffering.

What a beautiful man johnny Wactor. I see the halo. Omg. The angels wanted him. He was a great actor as Brando. He married Sasha and oh what a sweet , wonderful couple on GH. God bless you Johnny. Your also a hero. You saved your workers life. The animal came out In you when those animals shot you. I pray they find them. Or they think every moment of their life knowing they took an amazing man. And the guilt will eat them up. And they will confess. 🙏🙏🙏 thankyou for putting this up maurice. I love you much on GH. You are playing your life right now on the show. ❤

I love the honesty you n Both shared about your childhood. My heart breaks for his family, friends, and colleagues. Thank you Maurice for being down to earth and just showing the empathy towards others and sharing this with so many you can honestly help in turn. I hope his father received him and gave him the peace he needed when he stood at Heaven's gates. You could see how much his heart was grieving talking about the things he didn't get to do on earth with his father. Now he's in Heaven with both his fathers. Rest in eternal happiness Johnny. May you always protect your family that still needs you, your friends and coworkers. You're an angel 😇.

Amen, Mr. Benard. Thank you for sharing these beautiful memories as a tribute to your friend ... All of his family and friends, those of you who knew him and loved him, are grieving a very real loss ... You each are poorer and our hearts go out to you in your grief and our thoughts and prayers are with you ... but thank God that Johnny is richer and is under God's wings where he is safe and secure for always ... nothing can separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus !!!

I have a photo of my husband with halo, And an angel he was... 2 mos after photo he had an automobile accident, (broken neck) almost died twice in 2 weeks.. 4.5 mos and $1.4 Mill later he walked out of hospital with a walker. 1 year later he was back to coaching pro tennis players around the world, walking with a cane.. sadly 27 years later he passed away from the C word... he's in one of the USTA's Tennis Hall of Fame in St Louis where he was born.. made it to # 91 in the world dreadlocks and all (another sad long story).. HALOs😮 💪🏻💙
