Dr. Dray, thank you so much for you work! I love being able to watch your videos for helpful tips. I feel like I can trust you for legitimate advice, as opposed to being just sold something. My derm retired, but he was very old school and required me to come in monthly for him to just prescribe the same steroid cream. Where I live it can take months to get into seeing a derm (many practices retiring, moving, etc - my last appointment ended up getting canceled twice before I gave up). I have had severe eczema my entire life. After complaining of poor concentration, sleep, fatigue, anxiety, depression to a former PCP and she was only concerned with me needing to lose weight, and only cared about my lipids/a1c. I found out that I was severely vitamin D deficient, low thyroid, & anemic - from a psych nurse med management who listened to me. After supplementation (and therapy, and SSRIs) I am feeling SO much better. My eczema has been mostly controlled since getting this under control. After watching all of your videos about vitamin deficiencies and how they appear in the skin, it all made sense. I wish I had seen that video sooner! Keep up the good work and thank you for sharing your knowledge with the internet!

@@melissalauro4369 You might be able to use all of that the same day as Tretinoin, but in the morning instead of night, then just Tretinoin and no other actives at night. It also depends on how sensitive the Tretinoin makes you and how long you've been on it. Trial and error.

Fantastic information here, Thank You! I was afraid of retinoids. At the too late age of 59 I started with The Ordinary Retinol with Squalene, love that stuff, and then ventured to a .05 Tretinoin. I buffer, and or, mix with Niacinamide and a neutral cream. My skin loves it! It is SO soft now. But Azelaic Acid made me sting and peel. No more. The Aveeno oat balm was my best friend. Love the cleanser too. And Cica was really helpful too. 💖

For anyone who sees this comment, take her first bit of advice very seriously! She is so very correct. The "crow's feet" area, the skin around my nose, and the corners of my mouth CRACKED AND BLED. I wasn't applying the tretinoin there, but it apparently spreads out after it soaks in. My doc recommended Desiten (yes, the butt rash cream) to heal it. I had reservations about putting it on my face, but I applied it at night in TINY amounts to those areas and it healed it right up. (I have no idea if this is actually good advice so ask your doc before you put butt cream on your face. XD)

Your content is so helpful and practical, thank you! Many of us are shopping at places like Walmart and Walgreens or target for our skincare products these days with the way everything is getting so expensive! Tretinoin and Adapalene do so much heavy lifting (pun intended? ;) in a skincare routine. Good skin health is truly more productive and successful when kept simple to these actives. I’ve also found that applying Adapalene gel with a dollop of moisturizer over moisturize skin buffers irritation. When I introduced it, I applied at once a week for a month, then twice a week for another month, then three times a week for another month, until I worked up to six months at six times a week. I quickly discovered that I did not need it that often! So I backed down to four or five days, spacing it out every other day. Currently, I use it every two days. Frequency is a whole other topic. Thank you for all of your efforts and educating the public about how to keep skin healthy!

I love how Dr Dray gives us countless videos like this. Unfortunately, despite how bad I want to use Tretinoin and how careful I am, my skin just cant tolerate it. I used the lowest strength, Buffering/ on top of moisturizer, used nothing else but sunscreen, tretinoin and moisturizer, still had to quit. No matter how infrequently I used it, every other day, every third day, even once a week, my skin just got worse(redness, tingling sensations, inflamed blind whiteheads, one after another) I thought it was just temporary irritation, but after sticking with it for 1 year, I was done with tretinoin. I had to let my skin heal for 3 months using only barrier creams. I’m switching to OTC retinol now. May take however long it needs to see results, but at least my skin can handle it.

I also use it every night (.5%). Only once in a while I might experience slight irritation but for the most part I have no irritation. Starting it was not super easy as I had consistent pimple breakouts a few months in but after seven months of dedicated use my skin has yet to see a pimple and it glows so nice. I have highly noticeable reduction in pores on my cheeks, fine lines around my eyes and other places! I’m so happy I learned about it two years ago from Dr. Dray! Yes, I have seen every single video - and a few more than just a few times - that you've put out. I do remember your guidelines for the lips and around the nose. However, now that I've been using tretinoin for about 3 years, I have no issues with those areas anymore.

Thank you so much for this! You are literally my skin care guru! I am using adapalene. For the walgreens alpha hydroxy cream, can I use it on the nights I don't use adapalene? I use adapalene like 1-2 times a week right now. Could I use the hydroxy cream like 1x a night when I am not using the adapalene or should we just use the aha in the morning? Also, how many times should I be using it in a week? Thank you so much for sharing all your plethora of knowledge with us. You are the best!

I´d love it if you did a review on Noon Aesthetics! Especially the retinol products. They are supposed to have something to protect the skin from irritation but I don´t know how special the product really is compared to other products on the marked. I love it but it´s quite expensive so i´d love to know if its worth it!! Thank you for all of the great tips. My new favorite youtube account.

Been on Tretinoin for over a year now, vaseline is your best friend! I smother it everywhere until now. I also personally don't recommend the cetaphil sheer mineral sunscreen or cerave tinted sunscreen because they cling onto my dry patches and create an aweful look. I've yet to find an affordable and moisturizing sunscreen that won't cling onto my dry patches

She's said previously that teenagers don't have any specific skincare needs that are different from other age groups. Theres a chance they may be more oily, but their skincare would be the same as someone older with an oily skin type! So, you could search dr.dray's channel for whatever her specific issues are, whether it's acne/oiliness/redness/dryness. I'm sure she's covered it before! I hope this helps!
