Starting to work on the Frogeye's side curtains. Bugeye build Episode 136
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
The Austin Healey Sprite weather gear includes sliding side curtains. In this episode I get the first one disassembled and on its way to being refreshed with new plexiglass and weather stripping.
Just a quick disclaimer... this may not be the "correct" way to do this job but it's how I did it with what resources I have on hand.

Ian, great craftsmanship with simple tools right in your garage. Brings back memories of my 59' bugeye that I had restored while stationed in the Air Force in California.

Thanks Dan.
Very clever tool, that screwdriver and socket, for straightening out that aluminum chanel. Hopefully the weather is always sunny when you drive so you dont have to use them, but you have them if you need them.

Thanks 👍
While the weather stripping on the doors are called "draft excluders" side curtains are more of rain reducers, and sometimes the reduction was not that much. I used to make sure that I always had a towel in my '60 MGA and '63 Sprite. The '66 Midget, with roll up windows, was better but not great. I used these cars as my daily drivers in the '70's and early '80's.

I like to think that all the weather gear makes the car water resistant rather than water proof :)
I’m looking forward to the video cleaning the frames to learn your technique.

Thanks Gareth.
Perhaps you are finished with doing the side curtains by the time you read the comments, however you may want to hold the fixed panel in place with a clear silicone caulk instead of pinching it in place like the original one?

Thank you, that is a great idea. I even have some marine grade silicone on hand!
