    For people with straighter/slightly curly hair. it does work you just have to know that it is very messy and all over the place you have to put the effort into it to get the results. It’s a very very long process for it

    @Melcarab Rpurnell Depending on how old your son is and his hair type, i would say go the traditional route like seeing a loctician at a hair salon. Now Semi Freeform dreads or Freeform dreads on the other hand is alot easier and cheaper since you just have to do bare minimum like sponging the hair frequently, and washing it like every 2 weeks. Me personally to save you some time, he should start off with a sponge and work his way up. There's tons of videos on KZread about starting dreads with a sponge in case you need help and so the dreads don't get outta hand since it is freeforming, most people start off with a sponge and once the dreads grow long enough, they get it maintained or retwisted. A prime example of this is what artist XXXTentacion and Scarlxrd dreads look like. What I usually do on the daily is rub my hair with some water and then sponge it, and you can go the extent and use jamaican lime locking gel to help it to grow. Now If your son hair is long and he wants to start, it'll be a longer process.

    That’s what I’m using now. The only problem I have is when I go to sleep🤷🏽‍♂️. What do you recommend? I’ve thought about a due rag, but that will just flatten everything down.

    True, maybe try sleeping with your head on the pillow where it doesn’t touch your hair, or try to keep the durag loose when you sleep with it

    @@donbedtmm I wet my hair and used it after. Don’t comb it at all if you want dreads. Also I trimmed the amount of times I would shampoo and conditioner my hair to like once a week. Washing my hair made the starter locks go away when it was still new. Eventually they will stay in after you wash them I can’t remember how long it took.

    Great video! I am also using the sponge method! I have 3c hair but i cant get my hair to lock up. I wear durag at night etc. Soon as I wash my hair, it immediately unravels. Can you help me?

  • @popibrown

    @popibrown

    Don’t wash your hair until it locks up. If you have to wash your hair put a stocking cap on and lightly rise through to keep your hair from unraveling.Pat dry. Also get a cheap spray bottle, fill with water and lightly spritz hair once a day and let air dry so hair will loc up more.
