Thank you Strawberry 🤗 I’m so glad - yes to making it more personal - I just didn’t want or need to create another book of lists or correspondences or stack of spells that I might try someday lol - I have two of those already. Organizing by moon/month seemed like a good idea - that way I can find spells and other info a little easier in the future - like oh yeah I did all that ancestor work in Autumn and manifesting spells in spring/summer, etc 🧙‍♀️

@@thewayofthewitch It was a great idea indeed! Since I am a novice, would you say having two separate book of shadows could work? I was thinking of keeping one as an actual grimoire to keep lists of correspondences, spells, my studies on herbs, oils, crystals etc. and another one to keep as a "journal" of my own practice with readings, meditations, manifestations, very close to what you are doing with yours now

Yes! That is exactly what I do as well. My BOS is kind of like a magickal diary/journal and my grimoire is more like a magickal notebook - I write out all the resources and references in it. I wonder if I should do a quick grimoire tour video? It’s so plain 😂😂

I love how you are not afraid to use graphite paper. Especially more artsy people often think that it is not your own art if you traced it from somewhere else. But I call that bullshit. Your time, effort, love and magic flows into it when you work on it, and in the end that is all that matters. You inspire me to work on my own BoS, that I have neglected for a few months. :D

Yaaaassss PaperwormsCat so true. I mean sure the artsy people have their POV and if I were creating fine art to sell I wouldn’t use transfer paper in the process but for our Books of Shadow - that no one will probably ever see (well aside from the fact that I’m making videos about mine 😂) - but most people’s BOSs will never be seen by anyone else because they are so very personal - they are books we are creating for ourselves - so we can do whatever we want in them and I want to make mine very witchy and rich with illustrations that I’ve painted in there or drawn in there. And because this paper is so easily destroyed by an eraser i prefer to use transfer paper. I just don’t have the skill set to draw out something without erasing - so some things I take photos of and use them to transfer the image - some symbols or sigils I draw out on paper and then transfer them - even some images I draw on paper and transfer them and some images and all of the fonts I layout in Canva (a simple graphic design program I pay for) and then transfer in. I am hoping that people seeing my process can feel encouraged to do the same - it’s easy and you can end up with great results and have a book of shadows that is something more than a junk journal (NOT that there’s anything wrong with junk journaling - I have seen some really beautiful collaged/junk journal type Books of Shadow. 🤩🤗🧙‍♀️

Transfer paper is awesome! I like to rough my image out on sketch paper and then use carbon paper to trace the final image on my surface!

@@bnhietala agree that is something I will do and sometimes I take photos and then trace the line or because I’m not selling this and it is for personal use, I’ll make a layout in Canva and then transfer that design into my book and paint it. 🤗🤗🤗

Talk about timing. I recently purchased a very similar leather book with the intention of creating my own Book of Shadows. I'm so excited to see someone with experience using the same style of book to demonstrate all the mediums I can utilize to personalize it. I would have never thought to incase incense between pages like that! Thank you so much for sharing this... . *TW? . . . . . . . . . *My significant other recently took his life, and this BoS is intended as a way to navigate my grief and direct it into creating something beautiful. A labor of love to help get me through. It's going to be SO therapeutic. So truly. Thank you!

Season of Orphaned Dreams- a title very poignant to me, it made me stop in my tracks to research. Although- I most likely do not understand the context behind it as a witch's season. I'm am more of the Gaia beliefs and all about the energy. Yes I am with you Robin - I have gone through some intense life changes over the past two years - my partner of 16 years broke up with me March 2020, I moved across the country then, left my job of 14 years March 2021, my Father died August 2021 and my Mother December 2021, got a new job that I literally just began on Monday and tomorrow moving in with my BF - it’s been a ride for sure. 🤗🤗🤗

I almost died twice in 2020 (not covid), while in the hospital for 3 months I lost 2 pets and my eldest sister (my parents already gone for a while)- during major quarantine. It took a year to physically recover. I just left my partner of 22 years 3 weeks ago- I left everything except my clothes, my computer and my dog. Just moved into my new apartment this past Tuesday. But- I feel very blessed that everything is falling into place as it is... I have end-stage liver disease, so I am in search of peaceful solitude and the universe has provided what I need. I want what time I have left to be filled with joy, light and love- I was not receiving that, in fact quite the opposite. I am 48- just fyi.

love your note book. did you make it yourself? I am very much a begginer at my norse collectic witch beliefs so I have been studying and collecting info that are of interest and resinate with me. I have a somewhat home made text book approach at present. With sections I am filling in, correspondances, The Gods, Crystals I own, the Sabbats, Rune reading how to's/ meanings, essential oils and herb work ---etc Another book is for Teas, spell work, Readings, and dream diary. Another book is for personal discoveries of my personal spiritual journey. I have made my first book - hand bound hand made papers all by me... All have imbedded in them intentions of the book. the others have been purchased and covered with the same leather i made the first book with. Black and gold and all look matchy matchy.... I like that. sometimes it filled with art, or printed pictures or just writing. All depends how I feel at the time. Your book is inspiring and wonderfully personal.... Thank you for sharing.

I will absolutely continue with the full flip through each month - ideally I’ll do a making of and why or how for each page/spread but do think the flip through helps to pull it all together. This Blood Moon is jam packed with all kinds of witchy practices so I’m excited to create new pages in my BOS to support what I’m doing. Yes yes!!! It’s a beautiful journal and with a set of nice gouache (and maybe a few brushes? 🤗) would be a beautiful gift. 🤗🤗 I think that Holbein set also comes in a 12 pack - I do love the small size because I use small amounts and tend to use the small tubes at the right pace - I have gotten bigger tubes that have dried out before I could get half way through. 😃
