StarTalk you’re an astrophysicist Neil, not a neuroscientist. As such, we have not seen much about neuroscience. The closest I’ve gotten to neuroscience here is my neurons being burned alive by the facts that u put down on this channel.

The newest episode of invisibilia was about an implant that would shock certain parts of the brain to combat depression and anxiety. People then reported getting less sleep as a side effect, but they went from suicidal to normal and maybe even euphoric. Once the implant was turned off the effects went away instantly.

@@RearAdmiralTootToot LOL In a way, that's actually true. The only thing people would connect to in the BBS time, was those pocket calendar posters of naked girls or pictures of porn magazines. If you wanted to test your setup and have a directory of pictures of cats, you'd get a couple visits per week, but with porn, you'd have hundreds per day. Nevertheless, it was the price, the coin if you will, used to setup what we have now, that fortunately is way beyond what anyone expected and keeps growing.

Some would say the front of the classroom depending on your perspective. Eugene and Ian were following along quite well. Their collective wit is razor sharp. The panel’s collaborative effort is to inform AND entertain. Lighten up there Mengele. Academia, especially science, could use as many allies as possible considering the attack from our country’s own political powers. NGT has a plan. Be part of his solution....not THE final solution’s solution that is.

That's not true at all! Paul gets around. His experience with comedic acting and improv make him perfect for the stage right there with Eugene Mirman and Michael Ian Black. For each "host" there is a comedic counterpart. In fact, not saying that same thing about everyone on the stage is a bit insulting to their entertainment value.

I like how Mayim and Heather led this conversation, and while Eugene and Michael were consistently making little quips (which is their job, so I don't fault them), Paul mostly sat back and listened, chiming in only sometimes with about half comedy and half serious questions. Really a top-notch panel!

25 minutes in, and i haven't noticed much humour. Two blokes TRYING to be funny, and failing... If you want genuine humour and science, search for The Infinate Monkey Cage.

I’m not a social person and I can shut myself indoors for weeks without talking to ppl and feeling perfectly fine, but I would LOVE to spend 2 hrs of this kind of conversation (quality wise)on daily basis, a mixture of comedians and science professionals really are the ideal structure of my social circle.

I agree with you...degrasse tyson is exceptional. I have only one thing that i think didn't get enough explanation; he was accused of beeing improper to two women. I know they were both dismissed, but i think Tyson should have made a statement or something....

The reason he never makes you feel stupid is because he's not intelligent. He has knowledge and experience, and that combination gives him credibility in his field, but he isn't intelligent. He was the only person on this panel I couldn't stand listening to, and for the first 10 minutes I couldn't figure out who Eugene Mirman was. His voice is super annoying until you realize he is Gene from Bob's Burgers, but even that was more tolerable than the deGrasse Kicking my ears took from listening to Neil Tyson pretend to be daft to the point where it didn't even seem like it was an act.

Yeah! Smart people with intelligence are the best. I’m tired of hearing smart people WITHOUT intelligence talk.

I'm genuinely glad they put Paul Rudd & Mayim on the thumbnail.. I'm not the type to necessarily watch many videos on things like this, but I stayed and enjoyed the whole 2 hours of this, really interesting, fun, and learned a lot from it!

Oh my, what a wonderful idea for a panel on science. The comedians really enhance the whole experience, and Neil's getting better and better at asking the right questions for these types of events. That was a lot of fun, and also very educational. Thank you.

Love the incorporation of the highly socially skilled group with the highly academically knowledgeable group. Two opposite highly develped types of intelligent groups. They all are incredibly smart in their own way. Great video.

Best 2 hours of my life spent on KZread.

I have watched this 5 times now... Giving an amount of time in between... It's always fascinating! With always something new I learn and I laugh with an equal amount of joy.

It's so great to hear about different models of helping with distress in people without necessarily labeling them. A human being is a whole being, so much more then a particular issue in their lives, or brains even. (!) Very heartening. 🕉 As well as more humor- in life. Acceptance, laughter, love 💖.

He's not a science guy at all.... he's a fraud. I have a degree in engineering,, doesn't make me a scientist,, more like a student of science. He's managed to study-up on a-bunch-a random crap to keep a 'kids' show funded, but he has ZERO degrees to back his moniker.

Well done compiling an amazingly talented and well balanced panel. I’m currently researching brain chemistry and cognitive therapy and after watching this panel I have a lot of hope for the future when it comes to changing the mind for the better.👍👍👍

I have chronic PTSD, I have ASD, and am a parent of high functioning autistic children, and have a sense of humor, so I found it completely awesome, informative and enjoyable. Shows like this help enrich my life, and my children's lives. Thank you!!

Going into this video I thought I'd only watch about 30 mins, then hopefully remember to come back and finish it later. Now having finished the 2 hrs plus going back several times to make sure I fully comprehended some of the answers... I wish it had gone on even longer!

This is the best StarTalk EVER!! What an all star lineup! I don't think anything could top this, but what do I Know?

Great show! I love smart women so seeing these two really explain and overcome the at times idiotic comments from the children's table was hilarious and I want to see Mayim laugh without covering it up.

This was amazing. I laughed so hard and learned so much thank you guys!

I loved this. It’s great to learn while laughing. I especially liked that two women were front and center being clever and funny - an example I wish I’d had as a kid. Well done all!

First of all, my wife works at a Dept. of Corrections Mental Health Treatment Facility. I work at home post retirement (scientific). Not being the most sensitive person in the room, I was blown away by everyone's connectiveness on the panel. I really was. I had ties to most questions and discussions to things I saw on a daily basis. We can try to understand the mechanics until the end of time, but the effects are always here/there.... When you have an audience, they DO change. Thanks Neil, Heather, Bill and mostly Mayim! They changed for the better.

This was the BEST live show I've had the pleasure of watching. Amazing panel!! More please.

this never gets old. love it.

That was incredible! Was captivated for every second. Not only was the science great to hear but also getting to laugh every minute was amazing. Keep doing these! 10/10 would watch more. Thanks for doing this everyone.

There’s an issue with objectifying living beings. The kind of speciesist thinking where one views animals as objects is the same kind of thinking that was used to justify slavery.

Nothing wrong with objectifying so as long as you're real with yourself. I.e. Humans are machines that turn planets into plastic waste

Paul Rudd’s face when he answers that kids question has just been me for 2 hours

This was fantastic I thought at first Heather would be drown out but it turned out she was phenomenal at being herself and was helped out by her other female friend that the balance between comedy and science worked out perfectly... perfect panel for entertainment and fun but also thought provoking futuristic thoughts...

Heather and Mayim, I felt slightly ashamed even though I was no part of it. MAD respect for you. I suppose comedians on the panel were intended to make it more palatable to people that may not understand the joke, however, I watched the full 2+ hours because I wanted to hear your Beautiful brains. Sadly, I feel we were wronged of that. Love you both! Awesome, brilliant minds.
