mate, as someone who is reaching the twilight of my twenties, just know that in the years to come you will constantly be looking back at all the various iterations of yourself and all the ways you could have done things differently. it's important to remember that no matter where we are in life, we will always have the potentiality to still grow and expand into whatever space & time is still remaining - i'm still realising this now in my late twenties even with all that time gone by. you're right of course, you should start NOW regardless, and one of the greatest revelations you can have (and the earlier the better) is that the universe is not happening to you - YOU are happening to the universe. i think once you're able reframe yourself within this perspective and shift your locus of control from one of externality to internality, you'll realise you really can do anything tangible. as you say paramount to that consistency is key, even if you just just do something 10 minutes a day, it compounds, it grows, it flowers. anyway algorithm brought me here, and it takes me away. just remember - "the trouble is you think you have time".

Failure is just a stepping stone to success. The more sh!t you throw against the wall, eventually something sticks. The sooner you start trying stuff, the better. Failure is feedback, like an airplane telling you you’re off course.

Keep in mind that it’s very rare to be successful on social media but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t continue to pursue your artistic hobbies regardless. Not to discourage you, but prioritize finding satisfaction within yourself instead of externally because it lowkey doesn’t last.

oh definitely! when i use success in this video it could mean anything, personally for me, going back to creating art in itself is "success". success for me lately has also been finding internal happiness outside of material things. i just personally have goals i want to accomplish. everything is subjective!!

My interpretation of this fear of change is a bit fictional almost, but it helps. The current you does not have what you want. By taking steps to get where you want to be, you will essentially be erasing this version of you bit by bit. The change here is not just you "getting" the things that you want or achieving a certain milestone, the change here is the death of the current you. And death scares everyone. I guess the consolation this analogy gives me is that this death guarantees an afterlife, one that will hopefully be better and more fulfilling. But death is death. You have to persevere through it by seemingly mundane and normal actions.

I'm early 30s and while I'm trying, I still find myself putting things off. I've written several novels but I'm not consistent, I wait for bursts of creativity and the time inbetween is often wasted. I've learnt recently that I've likely got ADHD, which might explain why I have so much trouble getting started, although I'm sure most people struggle with procrastination, fear and motivation at times. Ironically, getting started is often the hardest thing, and once you do, it's way easier to continue. I once heard the advice that you can do anything for 1 minute, or 2 minutes, or whatever your individual pain threshold allows for. I think putting a limitation on a challenging task (or any task, really) makes it seem way less daunting--works for me at least. Great thoughts on not wasting our lives, it sounds like you've had a few wake-up calls. Well done for starting!

Motivation is good. Your on the right track in terms of taking "action". I also like the alternative philosophy which its ok to do absolutely nothing. Its good to becable to switch gears. If you want "success" though takinb constant action is a major part of the recipe. Also be ok having "incubating" periods, periods of possibly waitikg for inspiration. Sometimes people oppeeate solely on "timing", they dont force anything, and wait when conditions come together. I like it though, take action and do what you love simultaneously.

yes yes!! i love this, i've been trying to learn to be okay with doing nothing lately. one of my hardest lessons as of recently!! i've personally just been procrastinating for years now and also want to take action. maybe i'm being hypocritical in a sense but i'm still learning, haha. thank you for the reminder though, i will set a goal today to be "bored" and let inspiration find me in one way or another.

You need to stop yourself getting lost in it. Pause and decide a small goal and even have others help you make a few small achievements they will power the engine of greater things. I believe in doing the difficult thing have the hard conversation put yourself in harm's way because the pay off is much sweeter. Don't beat yourself up about wasting time just set a small tasks like this video it's all steps in the right direction change that comes all at once is never maintained slow and steady wins every time you got this

if you start with the assumption that a goal in mind is really what you want, you may end up trapping yourself with certain expectations. you may not actually want or like something, but if you have it in your mind otherwise, you could end up in a cycle of disappointment. what if you tried any of these activities with the goal of finding out whether this is what you really want to do or not? that way, there's no pressure to back off if it ends up not feeling right.

People say don't look back, or you'll end up with regret. Alot of conventional wisdom is rooted in stagnant thought. If you imagine a compass; you start your day in the west, then you head east, west is now behind you. Your dream begins in the south, but you go north to wake up, now south is behind you. Take time to think about the four directions and how everything that happens will end up in one of those four directions. Pick a favorite direction, focus all your energy of it. In the center is where You Begin. 🌞👆👉👇👈🏞️🌀

(Not an English Speaker) What God has willed! I didn't expect a video to talk to me this way nor did I ever would willingly sat to hear an exhortation, if it wasn't about something plaguing my mind for the past weeks. Recently, I've been lacking motivation just for about anything, brew a coffee, make a cheese sandwich, or even SLEEP. Which sincerely has been this quiet despair of unfullfiling cycle, because it's so different from my usual diligent self. I haven't been able to go to school in recent days, my body and mind just have been too loose, too often, and no matter how much of a blast the day I go is or if there is an obligatory responsability to attend, I keep making more mental gymnastics for not to go than would be require for just to go. The reason for that it's because, while I talk openly about my objectives and get sincere compliment about the skill I want to perform, in my eyes I dismiss it for how much it could change me and how much time and effort and inconveniences I would have to face. Not to mention, the difficulty of the task or how many times I sucked. I guess, in the end, your lazy self or insecure self will do any articulation to fool you, to not be slayed from your core. Since you only are truly free and adequate to pursue your dream, when you adamantly go through bad times to get good things. There's no other way than facing obstacles. I've been learning to not hide from them the same way you shouldn't hide from gratification. Put your 100% effort it's terrifying because if you completely fail, it means you suck. Accept compliments and criticisms has also been a struggle, although I've been telling myself, ''if someone writes or tells something about what you did, they are taking their time to help you grow, be grateful!' Start it's so hard because it seems so simple and when I postpone, cancel or fail, I get paranoic and feel like my own desire is a fake drive. "Surely if this is the extent of my resolve, my hook isn't this, right?!" But, then, a video like this one will come out. Someone struggling with the issue to get start and do what she loves Earlier, in the same day, I just made the decision "Maybe, yeah, I also will not go to school today nor will I write anything, it's a waste of time, I'll just wallow in shame real quick", my train of thought is stopped by this video in the feed. Thank the Lord! This video reminded me that no matter how vicious is the frustration when you fail, the worst is the frustration when you don't even try. And I know how selfish it sounds, but knowing that some people just dive in for what they love, not thinking straight or processing the details, it makes me jealous. Because this is a talent in itself. I wish I was this confident. Instead, I feel lonely knowing none in my social circle that suffer from this, but at the same time, comforted to know that there are people out there that know how this pain feels like. To know that I am not some weird alien force that has no hope, is reassuring. Crazy how perfect was the timing of the recommendation of this video, good job, KZread! Furthermore, thank you so much, Leilani! I know my bits of hebrew, your name means something like "flower of heavenly" I believe, very pretty! I truly hope you have a wonderful journey towards what you aspire to become! I'll be forever in debt! Now, I will take my pen, paper and board, starting doing what I love!

omg thank you for sharing this with me 🥹. personally something that helped me accept compliments was hearing a statistic saying that most people will refute compliments by insulting themself in turn and realize i had the power to just keep them instead of dodging by simply saying thank you. i'm so happy this video did something for you though and thank you so much for the compliments, i wish you luck too in your journey!! :)
