    Some of those seem really vague and broad. i can see those questions being more suitable with someone i'm somewhat familiar with like a co-worker, an associate, a neighbor, but with a stranger or someone i'm trying to date, no way. me, personally, i'd get annoyed real fast. i understand conversation shouldn't be a "job interview", but i don't think there's anything wrong with the generic questions as long as you can give back. That's the real art.

    I want to thank you for your tips about conversation starters. I used to be an extrovert. As I have grown older, it seems I have be one more introvert which has resulted in being closed off but longing for connection. It is nice to have guidance for topics to talk about because everyday topics can be limited and lacking. Thank you!

    One of my faves is asking someone about what they're doing/holding. I love being asked that because it shows that the person takes interest in something I chose to partake in. On the flip side I get the best reactions from people when I ask that. The key is to be genuine and sincere about it.

    I found you back in September 2018 because I needed help in a new social situation and it helped me soooo much. Now I am needing help with dealing with this other parent at school. I dont know if this is part of your scope, but I cant handle this one parent who thinks her kid is perfect, yet I see what he is *actually* like.... she's so negative and she makes me feel on edge. She's my ambivalent relationship. I have to see her everyday and talk to her but I hate it.

    because I work from home, I'm really isolated. I'd like to engage more but in all honesty, being asked a million questions makes me recoil. Like off the bat I can't think of anyone really who is a role model to me etc etc. My family is one big mess that I stay away from so any questions about family is uncomfortable for me. I do like being around people if it happens gradually and organically, but being thrust into a social situation is just ugh lol

  • @ScienceOfPeople

    @ScienceOfPeople

    Working from home does have its ups and downs, and feeling isolated can be tough. It's completely okay to want connections to form naturally rather than feeling pushed into social situations. Maybe you could start small by engaging in online communities or forums that align with your interests. This way, you can interact at your own pace and gradually build connections without the pressure of rapid-fire questions or uncomfortable topics. 🙏🏻

    *25 YEARS OF MARRIAGE WITHOUT A FIGHT* A man and his wife never fought for 25 years of their marriage. A friend asked him how he had managed to make it possible. He narrated: "We went for our honeymoon in Australia 25 years ago and while riding on a horse, My wife's horse jumped and my wife fell down. She got up,patted the horse's back and said: *"This is your first time"* After a while it happened again. She patted the horse again and said: *"This is your second time"* The horse did it again the 3rd time, She brought out a gun and shot the horse dead I Was so shocked and I shouted at her. . . . . . . ."Are you crazy! What's wrong with you? Why did you kill the horse? She smiled at me and said *"This is your first time"* Since then. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . My Mouth 🤐😷🤐😷🤐😷🤐😷🤐😷🤐😷🤐😷. 😂😂😂😂😂😂

    That's the most mysanganistic joke I've ever heard. I would've told the bitch to shoot me if that's how she saw our marriage. But don't miss.

    If someone is going to ask me to tell them about myself I am going to ask why. My life is a large subject and i will need to narrow it down to something specific or i will talk for hours.

    I dont like most of these. If i meet someone randomly at party or work pantry, im not going to ask them "tell me about yourself" or "what personal passion projects are you working on..." those are loaded questions and seem wayy too formal for someone u just met. I am just looking for ice breakers or soft convo starts with folks i meet quickly for a quick chat at work etc I did like "working on anything exciting recently.." it seems like a normal thing to ask. Or "did you see xxx viral video?" Those are fun and light and not too deep

    "what's your story?" in direct translation to Hebrew, becomes something you say to someone who annoyed you haha :)

    These questions are considered OK in America but in the rest of the world you will be considered pushy and obnoxious if you go around asking people about their ‘personal passion project’ or their ‘story’ (cringe)

    The term "personal passion project" might make the question sound contrived and unnatural.

    I'm sorry, but for me these questions are way too formal for informal, non-work related occasions and would put me off. All you need to do anyway, is just find some hook, any hook. Then get the other person to talk about it and show some interest by listening and asking questions to get them to talk.
