My first Suikoden was Suikoden 3 on PS2 back in the days, loved it. Then at the recommendation of others I played Suikoden 2 on a PS emulator few years ago, loved it as well. Recently I bought a used PS3 and had bought Suikoden 1, 2 and 3 on the PS store, going to start playing those games again.

I did a video on 'what happened to Suikoden?' to look at where it went wrong, and whether we could see a reboot or remake: kzread.info/dash/bejne/m6dlyM6QgrLQoLQ.html

Makes sense to only release the PC versions in China. China is known to be the PC Masterrace without competition to the rule..... Chinese do not use silly smart phones, they use Gaming Headphones, one-hand tripods with Webcams and a 16Core Gaming PC in a backpack to call their parents from the basement. Powered by Wireless Electricity of course!

Good encapsulation of the series! Glad you weren’t overally critical. I think Suikoden Tactics helps supplement IV’s story. Many like to jump on Suikoden IV’s heavy encounter rate but V’s was just as high with loading screens after every encounter. 5 for me is okay but some events felt like a little chopped up Suikoden 2 regurgitated into the story of S5. Such as Childerich being a Luca B-lite, Doraat was very similar to two rivers in the dynamic of 3 groups struggling with conflict within a city, Cerus Lake was near identical to Toran Lake. And while not quite halves of a true rune, Dawn and Twilight had a connection similar to that of the Bright Shield rune and Black Sword rune. Many will argue this is just paying homage to the series, I disagree. Paying Homage would be like putting in a Schtolteheim Reinbach IV reference which ironically enough S5 is the only main title to omit this reoccurring theme. The character incognito outfits were good example of paying homage with Tir-Freyjadour and Kyle-Viktor. There’s also a small plot hole with 5 in regards to rune shells, as the mechanism that fired them was no longer in existence and the source for rune shells (final boss of S4) was destroyed. Now there could have been remaining rune shells in the world but they wouldn’t have usable with the evil eyes no longer existing.

Lords of Shadows is much better than the previous 3D Castlevanias.
