Let's talk about Role Playing Games. I'm Richard from Canada. I'm an RPG fan, pizza enthusiast, cat dad, grindcore / death metal musician, leftist, and someone who should get a lot more sleep than I actually do. He/him. Level grinding is a lifestyle choice.

Zeeeeellllldaaaaaaaa
Sega made the best commercials of the 80s and 90s. no lie. end of debate.
I just want more of the same, and lots of it!
48:18 Oh, how wrong you are about this one. The Saturn's graphical might for the time is looked back upon fondly by many, myself very much included. I also think this game mostly looks perfectly fine. I really don't understand what makes these battle models look any worse than what FFVII had going on.
Well, *I* happen to like the title, _Shining the Holy Ark._
I'd just be happy if they remastered all 3 parts of SF3 and put them on Switch. If they did a SF4, I'd want it to NOT be an ARPG and instead be a topdown strategy game. It would sell well too, since Ogre Battle, Triangle Strategy, and Unicorn Overlord are all doing gangbusters.
So many JRPG ads. A pity neither Just Breed nor Mother 3 ever made it to American systems.
Super Mario RPG and FF6 are classic ads here in Japan ^^
I wish I played sega cd I had the first sega an others systems I played lunar on ps1 I think it been forever born 1983
What's up with the Ranma 1/2 one? The sound is is missing for most of it (I assume for copyright reasons), but what I heard was English, which...would be weird if it's a commercial for one of the Ranma 1/2 Game Boy games that were only released in Japan.
The ad was for a Ranma 1/2 OVA called "Big Trouble in Nekonron China." It had Akane's English VA describing the plot. But it got blocked due to the song playing behind the dialog. There was also an entire Rayearth commercial that got fully deleted due to a claim by Pony Canyon.
Man I needed this. Thanks!
Awesome! Can't wait to borrow my parents CRT and fall asleep to this video
So many great commercials, most of which I had never seen before. Wizardry VI SFC commercial was the one that surprised me most (I love that version of the game), but my favorites would be the Phantasy Star and Dragon Quest ads.
Hey dude, just wanted to say I love your channel!
As one of the five people who played Tales of Phantasia: Narikiri Dungeon. 17:17 surprised me.
Truly a different time xD
This rocks
Aww yeah! The Secret of Mana commercial at 27:00 brings back so many memories. I remember seeing it on MTV late at night and flipping out because it was (and still is) my favorite game of all time!
What's your favourite commercial? Did I miss any good ones??? in b4 zelda rap
I know it's not an RPG, but the FarCry 3: Blood Dragon commercial is pretty much my childhood, growing up in the early 1980s, convinced that Red Dawn was a documentary. It was a better time...
Well... Actually, I missed Shining Force And Shining Force II commercials... ^^u
Great review. Have you played the Dungeon Master series? I would love to hear you talk about those games.
Have all the regular games, none of the "others" I have all 3 SF3 games, 3.1-USA,3.2 and 3.3 JPN. All 3 do work together to make a complete story. Translation from SF Central helps,
This game needs to be freed from the Saturn.
My friend and I took shifts playing this game. One would battle on their turn, the other would nap. 2 hour battles, so it was a great way to burn a couple of weeks.
The Mega cd is great...not a curse at all. I have a lot of games for it. Many of these rpg -ish games have not released in Europe. Would like Popful Mail...which was not released either in this part of "the West". N64 moment? Pure disappointment? But Shining Force cd is great... Eye of the Beholder supporte the Mega Mouse, so...ehm, try that if you don't like the controller in the game.
Phantasy Star 3 isn't bad. Maybe you have missed Super Hydlyde to but in its place ;) My favourites are Shining Force 1&2, Landstalker, Warriors of the Eternal Sun, Shining in the Darkness, Story of Thor and Phantasy Star IV.
Phantasy Star IV is definitely a top 5 OST for me. I agree 100 with the tragedy that the composers havent done more work. And I'm more of a SNES fan.
I would literally sell my soul for Shining Force IV or Shining Force 1 and 2 remastered or something...
I need to fire up the UnWorked Designs version of Sega CD version finally lol.
But Working Designs is AWESOME and everything they did was... literally solid gold... what happened with Vay?
You forgot about (Heimdall)...
I completely disagree on the 3D point. Shining Force III maps are so much better than 2D Shining Force maps and the perspective of the way things look on III's map only works in 3D. Also you lose the sick terrain usage SFIII had going back to 2D.
Always happy to see someone else talking about this series and especially this entry. Outside of handful, I keep stumbling on people making fun of the series more often. Looking back, I consider myself pretty fortunate to have played this game and not really knowing what I was getting into. The slow burn story doesn't ever seem to get the attention it needs to and I wish it were more popular than it is (or at least seems to be).
I love Rui but no, she would not be good for this.
25 hours for part 1... after completing the game you can have a totally new experience with Ultragunner and a new story
My favorite game <3
The use of "Her Last Breath" for this is hilarious.
I'm still laughing over the achievement of 'a terrible loss' with the SAD FROWNY FACE.
Hi guys! I got an email from SoMoGa clarifying a few things: - This is a new port that is separate from the 2008 iPhone port. - This is a new translation as well. - The achievement bug only affects a small amount of players. - The game was not made in RPG Maker. They seemed very open to feedback, so I hope they continue to release updates for this title.
Yeah, that's a good thing, at least. I'm significantly more interested now knowing that.
FYI the achievement thing was fixed a few days ago
Very cool video, thanks!
a port of a 2008 iPhone port D:
Yeah it's definitely disappointing!
I don't know if it really qualifies as a port, the whole engine had to be rewritten
Did they make this in RPG Maker?
The very first RPG Maker was released two years before this title, so it is very possible.
My two favorites look how I would wish them to look - Toa's still adorable and Gort still look like someone you don't wanna mess with.
1:00 i know nothing of your economic status, but buying games on release because u might play them later is not very good from an economic standpoint. Theyre way cheaper the day u finally get around to it. So unless ur so rich it doesnt matter consider stopping that practise 😅
What Sega CD RPG do you want to appear on Steam???
Both Lunar, Dark Wizard would be great!
@@Spare_Ombres I would play all three of those again in a heartbeat!
@@Spare_OmbresDark Wizard would be awesome!
None of them - the Working Designs versions are fine. Emulators work great. :)
@@Spare_Ombresno doubt friendo
This game have replay value .I play this game more than 30 times.Something is about this game will never get you bored.😊
I only recently finally got to experience scenario's 2 and 3 a couple years ago after having wanted to for pretty much my entire life. I always hated that only scenario 1 ever received a translation. I started trying to learn Japanese so I could play this game, lol. Scenario 1 had the best plot and difficulty curve, Scenario 2 had the best battles, and scenario 3 had the best characters. Such a shame it all kinda falls apart in Scenario 3 though, and I hated the twist with Domaric. It was so convoluted and derp. Still, I love the game and SF3 holds a special place in my heart. I hated choosing between Edmund and Produn. I want both! D: and I hated that each characters dialog was just "......" when you play as them. It made no sense and was annoying, especially since they had dialog in other scenarios. Strange choice making them silent protag's when they're not. And with the amount of effort you have to go through in Scenario 1 to keep General Rogan alive in Scenario 2, I was pissed he doesn't actually join you, and is just an AI controlled character. And the most hilarious part of the game is that literally every single person in the Republic is a traitor aside from Synbios's dad and Produn, how tf did their society function? XD
i feel like i knew about this game at some point, but had forgotten about it
Dark Wizard was my favourite, im actually playing it right now on an emulator.
Don't forget the highly overlooked Sequel to Land Stalker; Time Stalkers for the Dreamcast.
Kk grego
