I actually have had this game for a long time on the switch and didn’t really care for it, despite a few attempts to. Recently I booted it back up to give it another try and now I’m HOOKED. Idk what made the difference for me but this game is so good!

Being a sucker for Star Fox and basically any open world, exploration heavy, dogfighting in space - type game, I had to opt in for the $74.99 Digital deluxe version. So far, I'm loving it. And just so you guys know, I'm 29 years old and grew up with Star Fox 64. So if anyone who grew up in the same era as me, if you're asking if this game is for you - it is.

Good to know, I'm 30 and loved SF64. SFZero was OK, but like the KZreadr said, couldn't wrap my head around it because of controls, though I did end up beating it.

I mean don't go into this thinking it'll be Star Fox. It's not Star Fox, but if you enjoy open world exploration games this is a no brainer. The dogfighting in space is reminiscent of Starfox, but it's more similar to the Star Wars games (The Clone Wars for when you're on planets, and Starfighter when in space). It's fun if you don't go in looking for a Star Fox game, but rather an open world game with some elements of what made Star Fox, Star Fox (namely the space combat, but it's not on rails). edited to add: also it's repetitive, but if you are a fan of most other Ubisoft open world games, you should already know this.

Rabids and mario and now this, ubisoft and nintendo crossover are nothing but amazing.

I feel like all of the other Nintendo game review channels have blown this game off a little like it is a kiddy joke. People seem to be scoffing at the toys and resent having to buy anything, so they say it's wisest to buy digital only, which I think defies the spirit of what the game is supposed to be. They haven't badmouthed it, but I feel like they don't really care much. I"m glad to see someone actually excited about how cool this game is. I bought it and I love it. I love the toys too - they aren't just a burdensome expense, they're part of the fun! If you buy this game with the starter pack, I recommend also buying AT LEAST one additional weapons pack so you can do some part swapping. You'll want more ships later too. As for pilots, yeah - I stick with Fox. But I do like many of the other characters. They're not as generic or lame as some people have made them seem.

I play digital only, I can still flip the part and weapomary which is still awoesome. Only the HD RUMBLE is not so good in handheld mode Everything else is great

It's good you can have fun with the toys but in my case I like options and the digital deluxe is the best cause personally I dont want to deal with the toys and have to pay more for weapons when I can just unlock them in the game. Also the deluxe gives you all the content which the starter pack does not

It's most likely because the toys are only compatible with the starlink game and doesn't give bonuses to other games like the amiibo does, which at least gives the amiibo more value. Also, compared to the amiibo, the average people were kinda meh about collecting ships than they were figures, so that decreases the value of the ships.

Yes because the "spirit of this game" is to get you to spend money. All these ships and weapons could have just been part of the game that you unlock by completing missions etc.

@@secondsein7749 except for Arwing, many people want it. The toys acted with nfc chips like amiibo but it was program to only appear in the game without giving items and all. Sometimes I feel like playing Batman Arkham Knight batmobile too, you know the way the ship moved and about, haha

I was lucky enough to work on some of the promotional material for this game and I must say all the developers I met were extremely passionate, talented and all-round lovely people. They cared a lot and it shows in the final product, definitely one of the best games on the Switch.

Omg how have I missed this!! So excited just picked up a switch for my kids Xmas might be sneaking in some “test” plays before then 😅 I still have my original nes and SNES and starwing (yes starwing am in the U.K.) on the SNES is up there with my fav ever games! Just got this game a few days ago. I know I'm super late because I never heard of it. This is one of the most incredibly underrated games I've ever played.

While I’m personally not interested in Starlink: battle for atlas I’m really glad that Ubisoft is able to produce a version of a game that is on other, graphically superior consoles and still make the switch version the most appealing version to get .

Really really loving this game. Just hope it sells well so we will get a sequel

TheMemeBros I have only just sold my Skylanders stuff because, despite it being fun when I was younger, it doesn't have that appeal anymore and I thought "No more toys to life"... But STARLINK just appeals to my Star Wars and space exploration with cool spaceships fanboy side so hard that I am going to order the entire set of ships, weapons and pilots.

Great video. You totally sold me on this game! I've been a Starfox fan since the SNES days and when I saw the original trailer for this I kinda thought Starfox would only have a small cameo until watching your video. Now I can't wait to get hold of this and have just ordered my own copy 😁

You've quickly become my main source of gaming information. I've watched a few videos before you talked me into Spiderman (and this was after I just started Horizon - yes, I'm behind, meh!) But damn. Was originally not going to get this because of the toys and did not realize how much star fox was in it. Ended up getting digital version and glad I did. Game is great so far and star fox is added in very well. Love star fox. All the star fox games.... unpopular opinion star fox adventures is the best... Don't worry star fox 64 is second for me. But yeah starlink is good so far.

One thing I like is that I can set the P2 to the Joycons and use that to put my figures/ships in the game and play with the pro controller on P1. As someone who liked, but got tired of Skylanders, I think this game is a very nice progression of the TTL games.

Just watch the review, I had my doubts about the game even though I'm a huge Star Fox fan but after watching you an seeing how much you enjoyed it changed my mind. Ubi delivering the goods for the Switch again? I might need to get this game at some point. The "cheap" digital option is $106 Canadian, which makes me sad. I get that the only real competition is their own toy sales, but I doubt this game's budget necessitates a triple-A price tag. That said, this is a genius play by Nintendo. They test the waters for cross-play with M + R. Then they release a first party exclusive game in disguise on multiple platforms.

would be cool to see a samus ship, rachet and clank, jack and daxter, star wars or even Halo ships.

FYI No Man’s Sky has been brought back from the dead. Hello Games could have taken the pre order money and ran, but they didn’t. They have continued to update the game and now after the release of the NEXT update, they have been doing W E E K L Y events for the community, and updates left and right. No Man’s Sky is no long the disappointment that it was at launch. And I hope you guys can get over that.

sadly no see its known by writers advertisers and movie producers called the first fifteen. that refers to how much time you have to grab someone's attention you have the first 15 minutes for movies to get people interested in said movie and in the case of books and video games comes out to 5 minutes so you have such a short window to grip peoples attention and if you cant you never will why? we are wired this way sadly they can make no mans sky the greatist game ever but first impressions are lasting. So to the populous it will always suck .It would take a lot of PR to make it great again but Ive heard nothing of advertising of no man's sky and new games like Star link the new AC and RDR2 will overshadow it.

I was able able to put quite a bit of time into the game this weekend and all I can say is that I lost track of time so much. This is THAT game where I can put 50 - 60 hours into and it feels like 10. Awesome vid Wood.

Starfox Adventures was a really cool idea, but the combat and such was far too easy.. but overall I enjoyed myself back then so whatever. Assault was.. amazing. And the multiplayer with my brothers was endless fun. Being able to jump between Arwing, Landmaster, and being a regular ol' character with some weapons made for some great fun. I hope we get a starfox where we can leave the ships when landing on the planets.. one day maybe. Who knows. I just need to stay a kid... I'm 30 now .. I got this

@@LovishIssar well, if you buy th game with the Arwing toy it comes with another starship and two more weapons, that makes 4 weapons and two starships and with that you can finish the entire game 100%,it will be more difficult since the AI kills you fast and the starships are the lifes of the game

I am tempted too, because I couldn't find a store selling the Switch version... But I don't wanna support this "digital only future" that publishers want. Like Spyro... We still want the entire Spyro trilogy remake to be on the disc or multiple discs. But Activision is pushing digital only... So, Spyro 1 on the disc and download the rest. That's bull.

Must add, it was definitely daunting at first, but have been truly enjoying the mechanics and learning it, since the game doesn't teach you, one must learn as you go.

As a 36 year old man who still to this day plays starfox 64, I'm so excited to start playing starlink on my switch. I bought my 3 boys a switch recently and I can't wait to see them play this game. Love your review and excitement towards the game!

How come I've not seen anyone make the "No Man's Skylanders" joke before? It seems so obvious. As for the game, kinda funny how in this case, I have the complete opposite opinion. I found the story and characters super forgettable and unengaging. Since there isn't one main character, there isn't a strong narrative since it lacks focus. Whilst I like the game and it's sorta mellow and relaxing, the lack of mission variety kinda kills it, and most of the challenge is pretty low to the extent the game is better if you crank it up to the hardest mode once you're familiar with it.

I was unsure if I really wanted to buy this or not. I've watched RGT's video and loads of other videos covering this game. Having watched this video I am now SOLD on buying this and need to go sell my body to get money to get this game ASAP!!!! Great video, keep up the great work.

I got the bundle for $30 instead of $75. I didn’t know the ship that comes with the bundle links with the controller & into the game, now I’m really stoked for Christmas!!!
