I can relate. I once worked receiving (the guys who take new merchandise in off trucks) in a grocery store. You really get in the mindset of an SCV constantly repeating the same actions.

Instant goosebumps. Oh my god. I haven't heard this in over 20 years! I'm 38 now and this game was the first video game I ever played online and I spent so many nights at my best friends house playing this all night after my uncle introduced me to the game the summer after it released. The nostalgia is incredible. I suddenly feel like I'm 13 years old with a cold pepsi right next to me and many empty cans on my desk from hours upon hours of playing the game. 😲

That may be true. Or maybe it is because terrans have an opposable thumb that allow the use of electric guitar, wich sounds nicer to my ears than the zerg's succion sounds or the protoss' depressive music (wich I can understand : it kinda of hurts to lose your planete while you're busy hunting down your next hero). Anyway, all of those musics are always a nice way to have some nice childhood memories.

Lol, I can't tell you how many 8 hr marathons of online play (until 4-5 in the morning sometimes!) I put into this game. During school days. Holy f-ck I could barely function the next day...

You gotta love how each race had its own tracks, really helped immerse you in whichever you were playing.

1999 year. My mom was young and alive, i was 15 y.o. StarCraft was and still is the best RTS for me. With most atmospheric OST. I got tears at 08:24, 10:04, 43:50... That time Blizzard made a masterpiece.

God, this track is so fucking sick. they should have just taken this one, upgraded the quality, then used it for starcraft 2

well said Edit: after listening to it all again... Protoss and Zerg are sooooo underrated (by me at least). While gaming you never hear all that ambiance (YES EXECUTOR!!!! STATE YOUR WILL, or zerg with MRRRGUUAAGGH HZZZGFEUGN, etc is what dominates, volume-wise). Some spacy shit they made. Very interesting music🤔 (but yeah less catchy than terran ones).

I also love how these themes changed over time. For instance, In I, Terrans are depicted as conquerors, while in II, they come across more as survivors. And it's all through the musical choices.

When the Zerg gameplay music starts, I can hear Zerg noises in my head. My brain just starts playing out the sounds of everything I would be doing in an actual game. xD

Same with me when the Protoss music starts. I can hear the little electric noises the probes would make as they gather minerals. 😥

After almost 20 years I still remember Terran One.

i love how 90% of this is masterfully crafted futuristic space music and one song sounds like an applebys commercial

SUCH! NOSTALGIA! I remember being 4 and pulling all nighters during the summer while playing Use Map Settings games to see what they were all like; and the best part about it was that the map editor allowed for so much creativity, that I was able to stay up. It was an endless abyss of creative levels.

I'm right there with ya. Starcraft custom maps were my life between the ages of 7 and 13. I can't even imagine how many hundreds of hours I spent playing them. I don't know why SC2 never grabbed me in that same way, but I can't say that I've ever had more fun playing a video game than I did playing SC Brood War custom maps.

Xenosaga Lam There was nothing ever, in any video game, that fit me as well as the Terran race. I love them, but they died with Starcraft II. Terran in SCII are completely different, so now im bouncing between protoss and zerg there. It's a choice in SCII. But in Starcraft 1, I was always Terran, and always will remember and love the feelings I got from playing that game as a kid. :)

I wasn't personally a huge fan of playing Terran over the others but I always found myself playing them anyway all the time just for the music. Pure GOLD!

Somnu Bonel ...Its a music from a Japanese game. I agree though, completely different genres. I also think that Western composers do better job at making music for action games. Just listen to Diablo 2: lod soundtrack ''Siege''. Its damn perfect.

Best Game Soundtrack ever, no one beats this. especially the Terran 1-2-3 - wow amazing tracks from the 1990s for sure. probably the first soundtrack to include both techno and blues together.

One of the greatest soundtracks of all time. I must have bought this game 6 or 7 different times because I love it so much. My late uncle introduced me to this game as a kid, and I’ve been coming back to play it ever since. Masterpiece.

I rememberd in 55:30 Gerard DuGalle: "Are you prepared to go all the way with this Alexi?" Alexei: "Yes! Yes, I'm prepared to go all the way, my good Admiral!" Gerard DuGalle: "Good. Good, I knew I could count on you" Officer: "Admiral, the colonist space will be over run in a matter of minutes, shall we intervene?" I always considered Zerg's music as monotonous and my least favorite but in retrospect, it really is fitting; they only exist to consume and kill. Definitely up there with Terran and Protoss. 👍

If you listen to Zerg One carefully. It's sort of a build up to an event. At around 41:00 you hear the moments before the event. At 41:30 the music has reduced and you distinctly hear breathing - ragged breathing. Something is born! The breathing slows down, the music rebuilds post event. Finally towards the end you hear what sounds like stronger, aggressive breathing. I like to think this event is Kerrigan reborn. Next to Terran One it is my favorite music.

Jeez, I dont what made me think of this but I got so much nostalgia listening to this. I remember when this first came out and I went to my local Electronic Boutique at the mall and asked the person working what was a good computer game to own at the time and he recommended this. So much fun playing this at home and the music still sticks in my brain after all these years.

I'm not really all that good at Starcraft but the OST makes this game twice as good as it. So many memories with all the Terran songs

Damn the OST was PERFECT for StarCraft. Nothing else fits the dark, gritty, technological, foreign, desolate, and alien feel of the world old SC had. That title theme and Terran One are especially amazing. Brings back such strong nostalgia, I'm so sad those days are gone.

SC2 really had a different feel that I just did not like nearly as much. It felt more like WOW...lost the grimdark grit. Considering it was directly inspired by WH40K, it seems odd to go in such a wildly different direction. The story suffered as well.

55:30 made me fall instantly in love with Brood War. "Admiral, the colonist space will be overrun in a matter of minutes, shall we intervene?" - Officer Malmasteen "Take us into orbit, Mr. Malmasteen, we've seen enough" - Admiral DuGalle *Shielding for glass observation deck of the battlecruiser shuts slowly, as the star ship prepares to jump away from the planet, leaving the colonist to fend for themselves* *Marine stares up in solemn, melancholy silence at the leaving star ship, as Zerg forces close in from all sides onto him.*

The Aria and Dearest Helena are really poignant. Without a doubt. A piece of hope, hopelessness, honour, sacrifice and betrayal. Someone might receive all these emotions from this piece without knowing the scene. Music like this provided this computer game to its glory.

Second track: "I love you, sarge!" "..huh?"

I can't imagine Terran One opening without SCV's crystal mining sounds.

This ost is an overdose of nostalgia, the reason I started to love space and sci-fi. Hell of a soundtrack!

Listening to this 10 years after with good headphones, I completely rediscovered the whole soundtrack, and what a f*cking amazing soundtrack !

They did not remake the Terran in SC 2? There is A LOT that changed with them, as well as the Zerg and Protoss. But I can see the top comment is about the music. So I am guessing the music never changed with the Terran. But more of, enhanced.

Today, as someone who almost exclusively played Zerg, I heard the Zerg defeat music for the very first time.

Protoss One...my god, for some reason, resonates with me the most. Such a perfect soundtrack.

I use this to rise my motivation and performance in my job. Works flawlessly.

Sad that it never got a proper Russian translation. I got a Svit Igor port of it, which is a dodgy early version with no serial number, a glitch with some of the sound effects and no Russian voice dubbing (they left those parts silent rather than leave the English in, too).

I feel most old video game soundtracks convey so much more atmosphere and emotion and were really written and composed rather than doing the generic "orchestral epic" theme

Anyone else run home from school with their brothers and and yell "Who's creating!?" and one would respond, "I'll create!"

Anyone ever come back to this just to listen to some good music? Yeah your favorite singer and rapper are poppin' but this is timeless. I'll never forget this.

Weirdly enough, this is the best ost I've ever heard to hear when studying or working.

It IS Russian. Both Bulgarian and Russian share the same writing system which is Cyrillic which consits both of Latin and Greek alphabets.
