funny thing. draken didn't just barely finish stim. He barely lost combat shields. stim finished at 7:00 and apparently draken then had combat shield cued up.

you destroy the CC first to check if they have another base. Only 1 starport there can do nothing against your BC. Even if it is another BC coming out, you can just Yamato it out. Going for CC first also hurt their economy if they have another CC

I actually played this guy a few days ago as Zerg, and ONE expanded to my third, and massed vikings. It ended in a long staring contest between the vikings and ultralisks.

The blue guy plays exactly like me :). Pile up minerals while microing the reaper, gets siege tanks killed because they focus fire sth irrelevant, scout with Vikings at the 20 min mark for bases, make BCs

I have vague memories that in one of the StarCraft novels they had a siege tank positioned on the edge of a supply depot then had it lift so as to turn the tank into an anti air. Could anybody confirm that for me, vague memories of that, might just be remembering it in the opposite way of a missile turret bring targeted at the ground.

The SC2 Liquipedia page lists Stalkers as a counter to Vikings. It's true that Stalkers can be produced more cheaply unit-by-unit (by 25 minerals 25 gas per unit), and that even without using blink Stalkers are faster on the ground than Vikings are in the air (meaning Protoss can force then maintain an engagement if these units meet each other in open map space). However: One Stalker kills one Viking in about 9 in-game seconds. It takes 8 shots; CD 1.34 x 7 = 9.34 seconds One grounded Viking kills one Stalker in about 5 1/2 in-game seconds. It takes 9 shots; CD 0.71 x 8 = 5.68. The sustained kill-rate favors Vikings even more -- 10.68 seconds to kill a Viking, but only 6.39 to kill a Stalker. Accounting for mineral/gas costs, grounded Vikings actually trade pretty well against Stalkers. As long as you do not head out onto the map with a small number of Vikings and meet up with a larger group of Stalkers, you will win the fight. It's only when you take a bad fight and lose all your Vikings that Stalkers become good, since they can then get aggressive against you while you rebuild your forces. And at that point, you cannot build Vikings into a superior number of Stalkers since the trade (while good) is not quite good enough to shut a major attack down. Probably the reason Liquipedia lists Stalkers as a counter is that Terran players tend to keep Vikings in the air when moving around the map, which is bad when you meet Stalkers there. However, if you walk grounded Vikings around the map, you actually take good fights vs a relatively even number of Stalkers. Just a thought for those who avoid using Vikings in assault mode.
