I hope we get to see a cameo from Boxnard529(?) in this series.
Fun fact about the card game mentioned at 5:45 It, and the later Star Wars TCG game made by WotC are still alive, with fan continuations (the latter of which has had over 40 sets and thousands of cards made in the ~17 years since it was canceled)
I would love to see you try some of the storage solutions people have made for boardgames that reaaaaally need it(something like Twillight Imperium) as well!

Quacks definitely begged for storage

Fun fact, I have access to a laser cutter through my job. So if someone wants to design a storage insert for some of these games that don't already have one, I could (potentially) cut it out and send it flat-packed to the moonbase!

I'd rather there wasn't a secondary market for FFG just making next to no effort in storage solutions. Every other manufacturer has stepped up their game massively in recent years.
I mention on the main channel that Back in the Box seems exciting, and then IMMEDIATELY I hop over here and see that Episode 1 is already up! How exciting!
I must admit, not a game I'm too interested in but it's a really cool concept for a series. Seems like something that'd segue well into an overall review/gameplay format alongside AFK streams. Good set of shows to transition into the new channel overall!
but how would Boxnard rate the actual box? Excellent content, would box again.
Looking forward to more of these, though I did find myself wishing that mor attention was paid to the assembly instructions. It feels like Graham is just kinda winging it here, and I think I'd appreciate getting some commentary on how good you all think the instructions themselves are.
15:50 for boxfarts.
Happy May the 4th, show that's been in development for a while!

Yeah... we knew we wanted to do this show for a while, so we shot this as the pilot on the morning of that stream :)
Could use a sign off to stick the series in the mind. Thanks for watching us get this Star Wars VHS board game...Back in the Box. Just a little suggestion if you don't feel it's too sterile.

Thank you for ensuring the AFK vid is linked in the description!

Yess. More chill content where I can just listen to Graham and friends chat
I am here for this show! There is fewer satisfying game night moments than a game fitting neatly back in a box.
I don't personally like loose components in a box, so it could've been better. But everything fit, so it could've been far, far worse.

Yeah, that’s pretty much how we used to store all our Catan stuff for years. Just kind of a shame we had to do that ourselves, and that proper storage didn’t come with the game. For a great example of how to do it right, I’d say look at Dice Throne.
"Components - Cuality - Craftsmanship ... The Three C's of Design" really got me, good joke Ben!
This promises to be a very good series indeed, if this episode is any indicator.
can't wait for more episodes
Love this idea for a series!! Something I think you should consider evaluating is how the parts of the outer box fit together. Like how easy/difficult it is to get the lid of, but more importantly, the quality of the box fart upon putting the lid back on.
I wonder if this series is how that Kingdom Death Monster box will finally be opened 👀👀 Always, ALWAYS, here for more board game content!

I love the vibe of a chilled-out board game crack-a-pack. Good stuff!
Always love to see a new LRR show
Highly recommend diving into the board game "Parks" as an excellent re-boxing experience.
Please continue with this show until you've at least opened all the board games on the studio shelves

That’s part of the plan!
This is a very good show
When they say "back in the box" You go "!!!!, that's the name of the show!"
This was the best thing to chill out to while having breakfast this morning. Really enjoyed it.
Oooh this hits a very nice intersection of short light viewing and AFK goodness.
When they talked about "Irish die" I heard that as "Irish dye," like coloring from Ireland. It didn't twig that they were talking about something that you roll until they were packing up.
I was never big on actually playing board games, but I always loved the unboxing process so this show is perfect for me.
I actually HAD this one back in ‘96! Certainly a good game experience for a couple of times at minimum. The problem with vhs board games is you start to like, memorize the sequence after a few goes.
Ooh, snazzy intro! And mood music! Such high production values...
I was most excited for this show after the KZread update and it did not disappoint. Can’t wait to see more of these!
Nice first episode - looking forward to more!
I have only seen the game on the highlight reel but it certainly looks lovingly made.
Sweet show concept, just as sweet ENGAGEMENTS
Put the bunny, back in the box. ---Nic Cage, Con-Air
In the first minutes of the first episode we already have a title drop AND Ben throwing shade! Let's GOOOOOOOOOOOOO
My brain refuses to read this title in any way except the "Back to the Pit" cadence
This is a kind of show I didn't know I needed!
Very cool series, looking forward to more~ I'd love to see some kind of before-intermediate-after set of shots at the end, that would be kinda cool :D
You joke Ben, but the Irish have a long tradition of creating exceptionally fair dice. There was a good chunk of time where every publisher wanted to included "the luck of the Irish" in their game of they could afford it.
So you're saying... Send you boardgames that are obscenely difficult to repack....

I guess by Ben's rating system, the one stormtrooper that didn't miss it's aim is the one in the box
ooooh, this looks fun
This was fun! I'm looking forward to seeing further episodes. I'd be interested in the instructions for the intended assembly. I know some of the games I played as a kid were atrocious!
I can't wait fir more episodes
This was great! I can't wait to see more
It would be interesting to see older games graded both by the year they were released as well as based on modern game standards as well.
"You can be a diversion, or you can be an Obi Wan Kenobi" Ah yes, the two genders. Also I feel if the final grading will be a thing, it should be out of 6, for dice thematic reason, and because grading is silly anyway
I am normally not one for unboxing videos. I find them kind of meh most of the time. I enjoyed this, looking forward to more.
This seems like such an excellent idea for a series, I'm really excited to see more of it
You guys should do Mysterio. Well designed storage, with a guide on how to put everything back
My first thought when I heard about this new series was “I can’t wait for them to do some of the Star Wars games” but mostly I was thinking of the atrocious packaging for the Fantasy Flight games. That your first episode was one of the VHS games is hilarious to me.
i want to request hero quest even though the triple hero quest re boxing is one of the greatest videos of all time
This got recorded on my birthday, neat.
I am here for Crack a Box but for board games instead of MtG (and also for Back in the Box being a way better name too)!
I give this a box/10
This was neat! Also kinda cool to see how long this has been in gestation.
My favorite of the Three C's of Design is "Cuality?"

you actually opened it up in a mail time
Engagement for the engagement god!
Brilliant new intro!
Super excited for this series!
New shooooow!
The Irish die is rollin'......♫
i'm excited to engage with this content
Love it!
Recorded on me birthday!
This was lovely :)
I wonder if in the crack-a-pack file is the a pack of Star Wars CCG I gave to Adam at PAX Unplugged.
Great concept for a show, I'm excited to see more episodes. I would much rather see either more recent or more cult classic games though. Awesome concept but poor subject matter for this first episode.
Not Ben slandering Decipher games, Star Trek and Star Wars were both fun and lasted a good ten years each.
I totally agree that if 8 year old me would have played this he would have gone NUTS over it. I unfortunately never really got a chance to play the old VHS board games before they fell out of favor.
Waiting for Mousetrap and the herding of silverfish that are inside the box
Hmmm, 9/10 box fart upon closing the box. 👌
The Dark red on black of the credits made them a little hard to read, but I would gladly rate this video 4.5 bad aim storm troopers out of 5
I'm going to give Ben the benefit of the doubt since he would've been a tiny baby at the time, but the Decipher Star Wars CCG was *huge* back in the day. It was legit overtaking Magic at points. How did Wizards respond? Put out a better product and compete? NOPE! Just had Daddy Hasbro throw money at Lucasfilm to buy out the license.
@OneoftheVoice

Hasbro first had to buy WOTC, which it did in 1999. Hasbro bought the people who made ths particular game first
@DarkMorford

BUT, when they lost the license, Decipher turned over the SWCCG to a volunteer "Players' Committee," which still - in the Year of Our Lord 2022 - organizes tournaments, runs an online adaptation of the game (you listening, Wheeler?), and creates new "virtual cards" on a regular basis.
Engagement for the algorithm
The worst game I've ever played when it came to how hard it was to put away was definitely Cathedral. It's somewhat similar to Blokus, but in order to put it away, you had to fit every piece onto the board at once.
1996? that game is as old as me
This looks like it will be a fun series. Like a crack-a-pack, but for board games. Definitely in favour of giving arbitrary game-related ratings.
Engagement
I preferred star trek version of this game.

my girlfriend gave me this game for my birthday many years ago.
great video but am i crazy or does the audio *click* every time there's a camera cut
Did you figure out how to fold up the board with the foam bits attached? It almost looks like two of them would get pinched by the folding.
@LRRTT

Turns out, yes that’s exactly what happens. It’s not ideal. -G
Just from the concept I heard from the recent LRR Channel Update^tm, I was super interested in this idea. Maybe you can do a collab with Boxnard529 at some point? I'm sure he'd love something like this.
Mandatory Video Engagement Comment: Hello KZread!!
Can you do dropmix next??
I would like, but I don't want to ruin the 666 likes I see. So I'm commenting this instead for hopefully equal youtube-interaction points!

Now that someone else has ruined it, will you like the video?
Ahh, this is a Cuality video for sure.
Super impressive for 1995....no no no, this pretty basic by 3d board games of the the 90s.
Why are u Canadians praising july 4th? Also I want gameplay, not a reaction to the contents of the box.
