A fantastic four pack. Thank you for being a frontman for the TVC community. Without you and others, I'm not sure we would be getting certain figures.

A great example of how TVC is the world building line

If you take a look at movie stills from Jedi, Squid Head's suction cup hands do have the over hang of skin. So the figure's hands are accurate. It's not a factory defect. It was also included in the Tessek Power of the Jedi figure back in 2001.

Thanks for the shout out my friend. I’m very happy to help by banging on a drum that’s been banging for geez I dunno 10 years+. Banthaskull’s unproduced character guide and scene it have always been an influence. I also wish they were not limited to Pulse. Shame, they could have sold even more.

The human skiff guards are great! Now my little army of Hutt Cartel goons will no longer be filled with just weequays, niktos, and klatoonians.

Man I can’t believe its taken this long to get a definitive Tessek. Seeing him now though he came out fantastic! This whole set is a great example of kit bashing done right. Love seeing more background characters coming into the line, especially ones that were never made. Am I wrong I thought this pack was accessible through ShopDisney as well?

@@BossksBountyThats probably true but I think ShopDisney has a longer reach than Hasbro Pulse. It can at least fill in some of those holes in the market where Pulse doesn’t have access.

As awesome as it is to get a Squid head as good as the original with the soft goods bits, man, I have been wanting an updated Amanaman and Max Rebo band for like two decades. An Amanaman with more articulation, and a staff that's not made of chewing gum to where it doesn't droop down and just fall to the ground would be nice. And Max Rebo's entire organ, so including the huge speaker that's never been done before. A Droopy McCool that doesn't look all dirty and grimy, and an actual (puppet) Sy Snootles from the original movie. And complete with microphones and stands; something that only the vintage line from four decades ago could accomplish.

Squid head from the front and ball bag from the back!!! Nearly spat my coffee out when you lifted the softgoods up around the back of his head!!! Great 4-pack and can’t wait to get mine!! Hopefully soon…

15:07 his portrait looks like a grizzled Kyle Katarn from the jedi knight dark forces games. Customizers could use this for a more photorealistic Katarn … the last figure we had of him was in a legacy comic 2-pack with a Yuuzhon Vong … the pack still holds up to this day. I made a custom Inquisitor Jerec using Moff Gideon’s body, Lobot’s head, a piece of plastic over the eyes, and Solo movie Lando’s scarf and applied some paint qmd used a softgoods black cape to complete the look

I instantly thought Jason and the Argonauts or some sword and sandals movie when I opened it too

Oh, the "overhang" as you put it, is actually accurate to the screen-used Squid Head hands. Those are intentionally sculpted on.

11:40 got to say, his portrait looks like Mads Mikkelson with a 70’s haircut … customizers could use this to make Jyn Erso’s father to go along with the upcoming Krennic figure

Really looking forward to this set. The only thing I don't like about these 3 and 4 packs is that I have to buy 3 of each... one to display in package, one to put each figure in to a clamshell, and one to open.

Squidhead's head is absolutely nuts

Maybe it is just me but I think the headsculpt on Velken looks like the classic 12” GI Joe Adventure Series character. Great vid as always, BB! Watching and enjoying all your work for years but just started commenting!

Now let's get Hasbro to do a Count Dooku and an Assaj Ventress! Great video, Bossk! I'm glad I ordered 2 of them.

Fantastic. I would buy a third and a fourth set just for the head sculpts, but they are quite expensive, even more so in Europe.

Getting mine in a few days. Had the original tessek back in the day which was one of my favorite figures. This is a great set and these guys will go well in the throne room I was lucky to get especially tessek who will go well with karsanntan. Great stuff man

I like what they've done with the headsculpts on the two humans - they were both played by stuntman Larry Holt and it looks to me like the heads are based on the same digital file, just with different hair and beard. There aren't a ton of photos of Larry around and it doesn't look like the likeness is especially close, but who cares because everyone's gonna be leaving the helmets on anyway. Nice touch though. Not sure if we've seen Velken's lower legs before but Taym's arms are the same as Vedain's. They're not a great match to the costume but they're close enough if it means getting this guy out there. Oh and I think Tessek's hands had weird seams on the costume so it's not plastic overspill, it's just how they looked

Squid Head definitely should be re-released on his own card similar to the point you made about the Obi-Wan Kenobi Red pauldroned Purge Trooper

Those are great @Bossk's Bounty! They look excellent and I hope to buy them sometime soon! They were sold out from Hasbro Pulse even though they're still listed as a preorder, but I checked in again and they were no longer listed as sold out! I'm glad since scalpers on ebay are already starting to sell the four pack for even more than Hasbro Pulse! I remember the bearded skiff guy being the one Luke stole a gun from in Jabba's Palace right before falling into the Rancor Pit. I'm glad we're finally getting more of the human Jabba's denizens for a change! I love the two human ones the best especially the one that shot Luke's hand on the sail barge! :)

Great review, Bossk. Mine arrived from Hasbro Pulse today and this is a fantastic set. I am a loose collector (don't have the space to keep things boxed/carded) and it actually hurt me a little bit to unpack them.

Got mine today, I thought Tessek looked very orange (?) - Also his arms are so skinny kinda reminds me of a Clone Wars figure. Just observations nothing to complain about.

Nice review. The head on the guy that shot Luke's hand looks like Javier Bardem from No Country for old men.

Taym will go nicely in my medieval blacksmith diorama. (Without the helmet of course 😂)

Looks great. (Technically, the skiff should not be in battle damage mode since most of the baddies were dispatched to the Sarlacc by the time the vehicle looked like this.) I can't wait to get mine. And yes, let's get the second skiff completed, too! 😁

Can't wait to get this set! To me, it looks like the paint wash on Ree Yees' hands is different than the previous release. Looks kind of brown as opposed to a bright orange.

Thanks for the shoutout mate, I cannot epress how thrilled I am with Taym. So good to finally get him into the line. May have to get a few more for customs. This is a cracking set and I hope Hasbro do more like this. Would love to hear your thoughts on what other sets like this they could do? Taym was played by stuntman Larry Holt, who was also Sergeant Bruckman, one of the Endor Rebels so he may get some reuse there 🤌and a hint of Miko in that Velken! 😉

Awesome set. My copies also arrived today. Great to plug another O96 gap with Tessek. This set is 9.5/10 from me, the only thing I'm a little OCD about is the lack of (Squid Head) after Tessek's name in the style of Walrus Man and Prune Face. Happy to replace my carded Ree-Yees with this one's improved name pill font size. Velken and Taym look like amazing sculpts. Thanks for the review, BB! 10/10.

SOLD OUT? Damn Hasbro, what are you doing? I needed that set, but you charged me for the Throne Room and the Ghost at the same time and there are only so many robots i can torture to make my wupiupis...ps: i still need elbows.

Hasbro could easily reuse that Tessek sculpt to bring us Senator Tikkes from the prequel trilogy, who was never made before and has been on my PT wishlist for years.

The Vintage collection highlight of the year in my humble opinion! Great video Tim, as always. Can't wait to get these figures in hand. I already have Rees-Yees like you. Are you going to hold on to the old one and get rid of the new one? Or vice versa? I know you aren't a variant collector.

I guess you are still waiting for an updated Chewbacca for the skiff! (lol) I did like that they gave Squidhead a different blaster without the usual trigger, since he has "alien" hands. Not aware, if they did that for other figures before, that don't have "human" hands! Thanks for the video!

This thing is just so cool. So much the essence of TVC. The only thing missing is a John Miko signature…so cool to have this in real life.

I was initially disappointed with the inclusion of Ree Yees in this set, but having it in hand I'm glad to have it. The packaging on the one from the "Jabba's Palace" set was terrible. The card is so thin and mine separated from the bubble while stored in a case! This new one is a welcome MOC replacement.

That “overhang/seam” on the hand you’re talking about… in the molding and casting world (model kit too), it’s called Flashing.

I can't wait for these to come in! In my opinion the Valken tezeri face without the helmet/mask covering is basically the Nizuc Bek character. He's the guy Luke pulls the blaster from before being dropped into rancor pit (blink and miss it character) lots of behinds the scenes photos though.

Hey BB Great review! I'm slowly returning to TVC after being largely a TBS - focused collector since it's beginnings. I really miss the world building aspects. I recently picked up the Dark Times Vader after seeing your review and wow, he is really amazing. The Ghost has definitely given me a push as well. QFNW - What are your personal "definitive/best" TVC versions of Han, Luke, R2D2, and C3PO so far to date? I personally still love the older OTC Han Solo. It lacks some of the modern articulation, but makes up for it with a great body sculpt. I replaced the original head with the newer head from the Han Stormtrooper and he has become my "definitive" ANH Han. But I agree with your previous sentiments that we definitely need all new sculpts of the core OT characters.

Now we know why his name is Tessek. I’m thinking Testek with those head nuts. Yikes. Sometimes I think they are having fun with us in R&D with this and the Black Series camel toes.

The velken does look amazing, and Im glad we now have Squidhead, but why an exclusive?? Great video as always 👍👌👌

Got my set yesterday but I repacked all 4 figures in starcases the problem with the original box you cannot completely see the card backs

It's actually not overhang. That's how his hands are supposed to look actually. On the 2001 figure they were like this as well.

UK deliveries from Hasbro Pulse running 3 weeks ahead of USA.

A total cop out to include the ree yes figure imo which has been previously released. What about amanaman, ephant mon, yarna dal gargan etc etc. Could have been an epic set rather than decent. Great video as ever though 👏

Very nice vid! The display of figures on the desert skiff makes it come alive, although the Luke figure would be nicer replaced by the newer TVC figure. That's the Luke I like! 😉

Also the dirt on the boots is a nice touch for that version. i use the same version with a newer luke head.

Four-pack's now sold out on Pulse US. Bummer as I had to cancel this and some Classified figures with the Ghost and Throne Room due this month, amongst other things. Hopefully it restocks, but yeah not a great month for Pulse exclusives to be due. Ree-Yees aside, set looks great though.

They made it a pulse exclusive because they don’t care how many they sell. At least I’m assuming they don’t care because the pre orders sold out. You can’t sell out a pre order unless there were a limited number to begin with.

The characters that look like Velken are Nizuc Bek and Weeba Weeba

Amazing. I want it so bad for my collection but the price is shocking and actually more than terrible. 90€. Makes 96$. Unbelievable. Over 20€ for a figure. I can’t even explain how horrendous this is. Thanks for the great review though! I will eventually get them if there is some big discount or sale on it one day, hopefully.
