@fargeeks If I had to guess, cost efficiency. Let's be real, Interceptors were not significantly better at their roles than standard Fighters, and likely cost twice as much while needing more specialized training. Unless the pilots were truly exceptional (by Imperial/FO) standards, it was simply cheaper and more efficient just to throw endless waves of Fighters at things. Realistically, the movie peeps likely decided against it.

Wow, you made that look so easy. In my youth I just kept on crashing and getting blown up. I wonder how well I could do nowadays?

Little tip: you can use cockpit view in a tie fighter and the built in targeting computer won't count against your score because you aren't technically activating it since it's always activated in the cockpit.

The fact that the Imperials let you destroy a Super Star Destroyer with a cloaking device as a prank to make the Rebellion confident enough to attack Endor goes to show how hilariously rich and elaborate Palpatine's plans were. If only he didn't pit Luke against Vader, he'd have won decisively.

@@hujar5011 False. If Luke fell to the Dark Side, the Emperor would've focused his Battle Meditation on the Rebel Fleet, and they would've lost. That, or the Emperor would've been able to escape the destruction of the second Death Star, allowing him to rally more forces to his side for a counterattack and smother the New Republic in its crib.

Also if the cloaking device relies on three massive towers, and take the ship with them when destroyed, that is very poor design.

It's funny how you're always the only one whose ship can fire at the firing rate of an MG42.

just bought a GameCube with rebel strike and rogue squadron and Windwaker, just missing twilight princess 👍👍

You can switch to an A-wing in the middle of this level by docking with the medical friget. I actually don't remember how I found that out.

+thavidu78 Well this is the Empire we're talking about. Leaving an obscure but easily exploitable weakness is basically how they do business. Actually someone once tried to convince me it was deliberate so the Empire could destroy stuff that got stolen. Which is just stupid enough to be almost plausible, but YMMV.

The whole thing was staged by the Emperor to give the Rebels a confidence boost, to make them ballsy enough to attack Endor.

That Star Destroyer must've been designed as a sister ship to the Super Star Destroyer, the Executor.

Never seen such a beautiful campaign like this with all these great missions

I find it almost hilarious how well the Emperor takes news of another defeat. You could report any catastrophic loss to the Empire, and he's gonna be fine. "My Lord, the Rebels have destroyed all our troops!" "It is of no concern!" "My Lord, we have no more ships and Death Stars!" "This is a tactical diversion, meant to weaken the Rebels."

I used the Jedi Starfighter to get the ace medal in this level.

This game came out in October 15, 2003 while Battlefront II came out in October 31, 2005, it makes no sense how this guy was comparing them for ground combat considering the different times they were released.

Look out, we got an Ace pilot over here.

God I forgot how gorgeous the escort carriers and tie hunters look

They need to make all the ledgends material canon again and retcon the sequel trilogy

So, what name do you think this super star destroyer had/would have had? Taking its' stealth capabilities into account, I think the best candidates are Dagger or Stiletto.

If we want to assume it would be like the Terror from Rebel Assault 2 (which was ANOTHER SSD of this class that had cloaking devices installed, and also this one had the TIE Phantoms unlike our incomplete SSD here) it would probably be Dread, Horror, Fright, or Alarm... Or it could simply be as simple as _Terror II._

The best star wars game ever !!!

Too bad this game can't be run in an emulator, it runs like potato on every emulator I've tried and I have a high-end system that can play most games at 60fps Ultra settings. This is truly a series that deserves a remaster and maybe a reskin for higher quality textures. Although let's be honest, it would be great to have a Rogue Squadron IV with modern graphics that can run on modern systems.

Why hasn't 'It's a trick' been memed yet?

They need to bring back the TIE Hunters in the new canon.

90% of the Rogue Squadron III mission outros be like DARTH VADER: Master, we got our shit kicked in again. EMPEROR: Ehh, whatever.

Easily my favorite game on gamecube

Getting a Gold on this one is such a pain the ass...mostly because your wingmen almost always die halfway through the last part.

You can use the Jedi Starfighter on this level! I go for the Imperial Escort Carrier near the force field and blast it with bombs,then go back to the Rebel ship and protect it.

Awesome gameplay and awesome game

This is definitely one of the better mission across the two Gamecube games. Rogue Leader on the whole is a better game though.

They reeally need to remaster these games for next gen and put more content in it like online play, more levels that are bigger, more ships, better graphics,dlc.

There is some serious polygon explosions.

I'm expecting the TIE Hunter pilots to yell out: ''Sand Coffin''.

Personally, if I were part of Rebel High Command, my first thought would be capturing this particular Super Star Destroyer, or at least the cloaking technology it used. Destroying it just seems like a colossal waste. Besides, the New Republic ended up using captured Star Destroyers and Super Star Destroyers in their fleet after Endor.

If it's any consolation, the Rebel High Command HAD considered it in the past... and promptly discarded the idea because they wouldn't have the personnel to actually man the damn thing. And automating the systems would be a massive retrofit they don't have the resources or time for.

Star Dreadnoughts would be massive bait for the Imperials to attempt to find/recapture. They did a lot of work to try to get captured interdicotrs captured before endor

Remember, this is pre-Endor; the Rebel Alliance isn't an organized government or anything yet, and is actually still at something of a low ebb from huge losses at Hoth. It wasn't until they formed the New Republic that they could get the infrastructure or personnel to support a proper navy, let alone a ship as big as a Super Star Destroyer. _Executor_ all by itself has almost twice as many _gunners_ as a Nebulon-B frigate's entire crew complement, let alone its 280,000 crew. An SSD would have also been virtually impossible to hide, and far too unmaneuverable for the hit-and-run tactics the Rebels are still using at this point. Even if they'd managed to get the thing moving, it would have immediately drawn Vader and his actually staffed and outfitted fleet to chase them down constantly.

It would take way too many men to capture this thing, and the Rebellion doesn't have that many soldiers to waste on a single mission that could go haywire if the Imps decide to self-destruct the ship anyways. Also, the Emperor laid this all out as a prank for the Rebellion, so there's no way in hell he'd let a dreadnought of that size and power fall into the Rebellion's hands.

Feel so bad for those tower turrets

Isn't there a tech upgrade in this stage..? I think you get it in the bay doors before the Rebel transport crashes into the station.

I never had the chance to play 2 or 3, purchased Rogue Squadron 3D from gog.com with other oldies I love and again play, I tried all the Emulators offered, including Dolphin Emulator none worked, Battle for Naboo can't be played either, new tech is great but sucks to, thanks for a chance to see game play

Yeeeah no. You can't just spray and pray in this game when the game will rate your performance, especially accuracy. Plus, rapid fire is weaker than full-powered linked blasts. Also, starfighters in Star Wars don't have ammo in their laser cannons

Tyler Morelock i only liked two levels. the first one and the endor motorbike one. any battle that was in space was boring as hell. dont even know which way is up or down, left or right , enemies not even in sight. bullshit un-understandable objectives. it was like flying in a black hole of nothingness. and 5 mins later it will say MISSION FAILED.
