Really love this style of battle report. Sasha giving his thoughts on why he is taking actions in the order he is really helps break the game down for new players! Excited to see more with him!

Sasha’s screen presence and attitude is impeccable; he’s calm, collected, very audible and his explanations make even a casual background listen much more engaging. I really hope to see him come back more, definitely an S-tier guest and possibly my favourite y’all have ever had.

this actually felt like a scenario from star wars. i could really imagine it in my head at some points, cassian jumping out of cover to shoot troopers, pushing a hostage in front of him, the tie fighter swooping down hammering the poor rebels... man, this really was awesome!

The theme's and moves they made were so good! The part with Rebels running out in the open, getting strafed by the TIE as they desperately tried to reach the VIP, The Scout on the Speeder bike driving at full speed as his buddy gets turned into a smoldering wreck behind him, Cassian attacking Ruthie at close range, and shouting into his comms for the X-Wing to strafe his position and tumbling out of the way as the Officer gets shredded by laser-fire, to the horror of her VIP brother just a few meters away from her. The grim-ness of the situation and desperation for both sides really felt appropriate with the grittiness of the Andor series.

I absolutely love the custom scenario, that's really what sets this channel apart from the rest--it also makes it clear that you guys are playing for the fun of it and you aren't afraid to potentially sacrifice balance for a wonderful story. Great job! Edit: I would be remiss to not mention the fantastic editing in this video, whomever is doing the editing is extremely good at their job.

It's one of the things I love a lot about Play on Tabletop's battle reports. They focus on the narrative and cinematic story-telling of each battle, rather than just raw numbers and explaining game mechanics to show how the fight progressed and concluded. While yes, playing around with game mechanics is fun and at the heart of competitive play, it's always been the roleplaying aspect of having 2 armies clash for one reason or another that made games like these fun for me. And whether I win or lose, it will end with a fun story created between me and my opponent.

Legion is my main game now after finding 40K and even AoS too dense. Despite loving the 40k lore, Star Wars was the first love for many of us sci fi fans. Alternate activation also feels way more real and fair than full army turns. I also love the jockeying for going first per turn with command cards - so much more depth and nuance.

12:20 You can't put two aims on the same unit with Spotter. Text on Spotter is "Pick up to X friendly units, each one gains an aim." You can't pick the same unit twice.

However the ruthless commander also gets her own spotter. Does that not mean it can go two on one. Or does that just mean another unit.

@Play On Tabletop Right, Spotter 2 would mean that the text reads "Choose up to 2 units at Range 1. Each unit gains an aim token." So the Stormtrooper unit can only get one aim, because it can't be selected twice. She CAN give herself an aim though, because she's at Range 1 of herself. Veers has Spotter 2 by default, and on his card you can see that the ruling is written that way.

Best Batrep so far, it's great to see you actively taking on the constructive criticism and making this Legion content the best it can be! Love the editors notes, especially with this custom scenario to explain any deviations from rules or just to explain how it works in quick detail. You're fast becoming the most polished Legion content creators on KZread and I can't wait to see more!

I've been loving these legion videos. The production value is insane, and the camera work makes the battles that much more exciting. I'd love to see you guys play X-wing or Armada as well, I feel that your map-making and storytelling skills would make the battles that much more enjoyable to watch.

The interceptor(LAAT) doesn’t have a compulsory move I don’t believe

Thought I should let you know, danger sense adds a defense die per suppression, it does not grant rerolls

amazing paintjobs on these models, i love the series so far and cant wait to see what battle you recreate next!

This episode was awesome! Definitely looked like an episode of Andor, keep up the amazing work! I also wanted to help out that if your unit has attacked already, they're no longer qualified for a standby. With Cassian's '1 Pip', people like to move him and aim or get a dodge token, then get the standby token. So if someone activates it, it also activates his 'Gunslinger' since Command Card keywords last the whole round until they're used

A community creator called “the fifth trooper” made a legion product called the legion event deck. It is a deck of cards you draw during gameplay that adds crazy thematic events and objectives. It would really fit your narrative battle report style.

really happy you are doing these. they might not get you the views you deserve yet, but you are promoting the game and there are great things in the pipeline for the game!

just to let you guys know they have changed the rules for suppression recently, if you have suppression tokens equal to or surpassing the units courage value then they are suppressed, so unless they have courage value of 1 then they dont get fewer actions until they meet the courage value

Stormtroopers are courage 1. Also, the latest rules changes didn't really change how suppression works. It changed what panic does.

@@TKLoken What? No. The courage value is the value printed on the unit card - period. It doesn't go up or down depending on the number of models in the squad. Stormtroopers have a courage value of 1 (regardless of how many troopers in the unit).

Know it's already been said but just wanted to agree, was really awesome watching Sasha, not only was he really entertaining to watch, him explaining what was going on and the rational behind his actions really helped me understand a game which I'm really interested in but have no practical experience with! Once again the table looks great. I love the thematic approach to the game and it is much more akin to how I play with my group. I think that size of table lends perfectly to the match you're going for. What size of list did you use here?

I happened to notice on the second shot that Sasha took, he used his aim token to re roll two misses. Both of them became hits, but they knocked over one of the original dice that was also a hit and became a blank.

Great set, production, paint jobs.The blaster flare widgets, the clear bases, and the custom objective token prisoners made every shot look like a shot from the TV shows/Movies. Thanks also for narrating. I've played X-wing and this seems similar, and your narration helps evoke the casual competition I play these games for. Question for fans of the game - it seemed to me that the ships felt slow. Does anyone else get that feeling? At least observing, it was strange to see a TIE fighter and X-wing hover in place for most of the game.

Well they're not actually TIE Fighters and X-Wings in game. They were using them as proxies for the actual units which was the Hoth Snowspeeder, and the LAAT/LE Patrol gunship, which are of course much slower and have hover capabilities. They just used an X-Wing and a TIE as a proxy because imagining those 2 dog-fight and do strafing runs in the air above the battle seemed a lot more cinematic than a Snowspeeder and a Gunship fighting.

So a slight rules thing, an Imp Officer with Electro Binoculars has Spotter 2, this lets you give UP TO 2 units in range 1-2 an aim token. It does not let you give one unit two aim tokens

I am just getting into this game and really enjoy your style battle reports. What did you use for the X-Wing and TIE Interceptor?

It would be really cool if at the end of the game you roll to see which hostage was the real agent. Especially as it would be a thematic way to possibly break the tie

Great terrain The "What I'm hoping to do" commentary is really useful. The music when you're talking makes it hard to listen to though

New player here. I feel like I'm missing something at 20:51. Five hits to the troopers, only one of which was blocked by cover, which left four hits - but then only two defense dice were rolled, and only two troopers died? What am I missing?

Fun fact, Ruthy would not have been able to give those stormtroopers 2 aim tokens. Spotter 2 allows you to pick two different units and give them each 1 aim token. These battle reports always look so damn good I just wish they read the rules more carefully 😅 keep making more Legion content though! It's my favorite game.

@@PlayOnTabletop it happens! I can totally see why you thought spotter 2 would just give 2 aim tokens. Another small one I noticed was when the Scout troopers deployed, units can't use the Scout keyword when they are deplyed by special effects like Rapid Reinforcements. Overall though the custom scenario was awesome and I loved the X-Wing and Tie-fighter substitutions! Makes me wish they'd actually put some more air support options on the game.

weird how he was cut off at 2:50. he likes to play "CIS, and particularly..." and then talk over him and cut to the next shot like ok??

I mean, "big civil war" is kind of a general trope of fiction since like... ever. That said, I get where you're coming from; if someone's first exposure to star wars is after Warhammer, one will use the more familiar setting to base their comparisons. I've grown up with star wars, so that forms the basis of much of my personal comparisons with sci-fi.

Are the tie fighter and x wing Fantasy Flight or are those modified toys? Is there a Star Wars toy line or scale models line that's close to heroic scale? Anyone know?

There aren't Xwings and Tie fighters in Star wars Legion. They were using models from something else to substitute for a LAAT patrol ship and a Snowspeeder.

You shoulda made one hostage the secret ISB agent at random and revealed which one it was after the game with whoever secured it being the winner
