I just wanted to say thank you for being a staple of this community, and not abandoning Armada. I was a long time X wing player and went on hiatus for a couple years due to life changes and availability. My son is 10 and showing serious interest in X wing so I am dusting off the old squadron. My buddy and I who used to play X wing all the time are using this momentum to get into Armada. I got a core set, chimera, home one, mc30, and imperial light cruiser all on their way. Super stoked!

Im curious, what does your collection look like now?

I've been loving the ship breakdowns. Just got back into armada and this helps me learn more about the ships in detail.

Onager should have been used in The Rise of Skywalker instead of the Xyston..

Name a ship. Any ship. Eclipse SSD? World devastator? Harrow Dreadnaught? Lukerhulks? ISD-1s? Onagers? Chiss cruisers? Katana fleet? Go'auld Mother ships? Those guys from Independence Day? Borg Cubes? Havenite Dreadnoughts? Cylon Base Stars? The Whale probe from Star Trek III? Galactus? Space Shuttles? Green Lantern Guy Gardner? Any of those (or literally anything you can think of)* would have been better than the Xyston. *Except the Sun Crusher. I am a fair man.

Welcome! The Irony here is that I was motivated to START this channel primarily because of Wil Wheaton and his show "Tabletop". Wesley Crusher is a pretty big deal!

I can’t wait to get this, I have 3 rebel large ships and both ISD variants and this gives the empire a third large option in my collection

You're right to mention the possibility of ruining your opponent's day with the extended range shots. When the bomb throwing option came into X-Wing 1.0, it fully killed my enjoyment in the game, resulting in me selling everything I owned.

Love the breakdown, as always. It helps out alot! I just got 'The Corellian Conflict Campaign' set, but I'm the only one among my friends who collects Armada. I have friends who are willing to play, but in the end, it will be me making army lists for 4 people, which is really daunting for someone who has barely played the game... What do you recommend for basic armies? I read in the rules for the campaign that you're only allowed one upgrade at the start, and that's throwing me off completely. Would you perhaps be able to do a vid in the future with some good sample campaign armies?:) I own every set for Rebels and Empire, apart from the SSD, upgrade card pack and 'Rebellion in the Rim', with multiple sets of a few ships, so I think I have enough models for 4 armies... Thanks for all the quality content over the years!

I’ve only just started playing the game, only hVe the core set and played for the first time two days ago. Your videos are so informative and have me fairly confident on how the mechanics work as well as a ship breakdown to help me expand my fleet :) I think the onager looks to be a beast on the field. Maybe in future but for now it’s more dice, some squadrons and something rebel, cruiser perhaps? What do you think or would I be better getting the upgrade cards first?

The Providence class is my favorite. Once they announced Clone Wars Era ships I was fucking ecstatic.

you make a great case for a balance change on this ship. it definitely should cost more than what it is. 100 points is not outside the realm of reasonable. i have to say, beard is looking very majestic! very jealous.

Love the concept behind ship, I don't know if it is OP or a glass canon.

The most vile build I have is a Cataclysm Onager with two tanky interdictors that have full on movement manipulation in their dice pools which bids for second. It has exclusively space station objectives. So basically, you have to approach a Romodi Onager hiding behind two full tank Interdictors that are constantly adjusting your speed, you deploy at speed zero if you're anywhere near the objective, and there's a pair of TIE Ints that have backups on the Interdictors floating around, while they all hover around a space station.

fighting two of these would be an absolute nightmare

havent faced one onager yet, i guess after this video i may want to try it myself haha really hard to pick my fav ship in armada i have too many 😅

Vader asked to have any available Onagers go to hoth but all were making examples of world's who resisted the Empire though after hoth Vader would have the 2 added to his fleet

Love your videos ! As for the Onager which I do like to play often is for me a very cool and different way Of playing Empire! But still I must admit Its a bit OP. Slight adjustment to Its Non SD Class price should do the trick imo. It still needs to stay that power house, but not for less than 100 points ! Hope to win the amazon gift card for the lightsaber 🤞🏻

Such a cool ship, but man, does it take down the fun factor for the opponent even after the points increase

The problem with the Onager is not is core, I think it is more is point value. If you want to keep it in that state for each version, AMG should raise the price tag for each ship version or boost alot the price for the super weapon instead. Because it's right, without the super weapon upgrade, the ship performance are really not the same. But in my eye, it's not normal that they cost less than a Star-Destroyer II or a Cymoon. At my last tournement at the Abyss (Montréal, Québec) this weekend, I face a double Onager list with two ISD and the trade of was really bad. I Try to rush them at speed 3 to close the gap quickly as possible, but result : One ISD-II, one Raider and a Gozanti dead and my Cymoon near to explode. My opponent loose one of is Onager but the other one was praticly not touch and the same for is Arquitaine. I think it is tough to deal with one Onager but two... It's really hard because of the super weapon upgrade. Put those two without those upgrade, not the same game. I wounder what the playtester gave for comments on this ship. Maybe they should allow only one Onager per 400 pts. This could be a easy solution if they don't want to touch anything about the ship. Yes, they could maybe sell less model but they could see less bad comments about this ship.

Question. What would happen if Sunder was discarded to discard a Rapid Launch Bay on a ship that had yet to deploy its squadrons? Do the squadrons dump out or are they considered "destroyed"

I think the simplest fix would be a change to Intel Office making it only usable in attacks that are close- long range.

I liked the onager for that long range, but I'm not a master of this game to even contemplate the meta in armada.

I think the model is too expensive to add to my fleet. I love it... but the price is prohibitive. My favorite ship is the Corvette I think.... multiples get put into every fleet.

I think the cheaper version needs to be increased in many points. Something at least above 100 points.

i hate the onagers i think especially for new players it is hard to fight this ship especially because it never comes alone and the imperial ships have a lot of firepower. i love the providence super ship it's a lot of fun although i've been playing with the republic a lot lately and i'm also a big fan of the venator now
