So, to be clear, Polaski, who was a one-note character, is ranked higher than Bashir? Bashir, a character who had more growth than most other characters in the entire franchise, and repeatedly risked his life to save others (something Polaski never seemed to do). Both as a character and as a Doctor, there is no way that Bashir is lower than her. No. Way.

I was floored by about 10 minutes playing the Spock's brain drinking game whilst watching the episode Spock's brain. When season 2 first aired, I hated Pulaksi. Now re-watching season 2 all these years later, Pulaski had a ton of potential. I actually like the fact that she was rougher around the edges and less idealistic than the other characters (minus Worf). Also, there was a bit of an outsider feel to her. Diana Muldaur was allegedly not well-treated by some of the TNG cast, and that awkward chemistry comes across on screen at times (particularly with Patrick Stewart) and it worked really well. I'm probably in the minority here, but I also liked her dynamic with Data because by the end of the season you can see she's changed her opinion on him, and I think that friendship had the potential to be kind of the McCoy/Spock or Odo/Quark of TNG.

His ongoing conflict with Spock was and still is one of the funniest parts of the original Stas Trek. He also kept Kirk from being or at least looking like an arrogant, overbearing toad. He definitely was the best doctor in the Star Trek series.
