This is likely because Jotaro got Star platinum from the signal from Jonathan's body . Which was when he got the world. The signal gave him the same stand as it is the only thing that can counter it. It also gave Holly a stand so they have a reason to fight DIO and allowed Joseph to use Hermit purple so they could find DIO.

Actually, Star Platinum has the Time Stop from the beginning. It's just that DIO, after taking Jonathan's body, gains the stand of all the Joestars in the current generation of Part 3. So it was really DIO who took the Time Stop ability from Jotaro, not the other way around.

You’re kind of right, you see, by the time Dio had awakened from his coffin, his JoJo half, had already been given a similar stand to Josephs, who had his stand before Dio fully fused, Jotaro would be around 14-15 give or take, and he developed his stand, which, much like Joseph, most likely came from a descendant, and Jotaro got his stands ability from Dio. Like Joseph getting his from Jonathan

Thinking back on the series, I might have come up with a theory for how Za Worldo and Star Platinum had the same special ability. In stardust crusaders, Star Platinum is said to have powerful strikes, great speed, but most importantly, its precision and perception. Considering how Star Platinum caught a bullet at point blank range with two fingers. So maybe only Za Worldo could stop time and Star Platinum could increase its precision and perception to the point everything around would appear to have stopped. Think kinda like what happened when David from edge runners had the sandevistan implanted.

i like to believe that DIO's true ability is inherently parasitic to the joestar bloodline, and that he can use any ability from any joestar alive through connections in his body's "soul"(?). would ALSO be very fitting if this was johnathans stand ability. power through familial connections would be a pretty run-of-the-mill shonen power, and DIO corrupts that idea. but then part 7 Dio kinda throws a wrench in it, but with infinite universes, whos to say his version of johnny joestar doesnt have star platinum or something. TUSK is a stand developed by the cursed corpse/spin, so maybe an alternate johnny who isnt a cripple developed a stand without any of that.
