Yeah, it does look cool. But 1500 gets you an actual simpit to put next to a decent ergo chair. Niche product with some flash branding. Doesn't feel like great value but their stuff is quality at least & it's got some features you aren't getting out the box elsewhere. It's not for me but I don't think it's egregious either.

900$ for a piece of plywood and some memory foam. Had one of those "gaming chairs" Never ever again, bought an ergonomic office chair and have no regrets at all.

I stopped trying gaming chairs . I never had one that the comfort matched the price . They were mostly disappointing. Nothing seems to compare to a mesh ergo style office chair . The first company to make a meshed ergo with mount options will win the chair wars

If you're looking into spending 4 digits for a chair, I'd really recommend checking out high end office chairs like HM or Haworth. I got an Embody on sale and it solved a lot of the body pains I've had from previous "gaming" chairs.

I use a $15 foldable metal chair that has paint splatter because I also used it when I painted my ceilings.

For that price, the gap in the middle of the seat cushion better be for an included "happy ending" feature.

If you buy the non-CIG affiliate version of the exact same chair from the exact same company, it's about 300 bucks cheaper. Anybody spending money on SC could probably stand to save 300 bucks. You can also get a real leather office/gaming chair for around 500/600 bucks.

I would say SC has more than a few sim enthusiasts, but the vast majority of SC fans have not. This is just another chair, with corporate backing and shiny logo's designed to appeal to those with lots of money. I paid about £200 for my ergonomic chair, and it's very comfortable, alas it has no fancy logos' 😉😉

Wish they had an option to not have the cutout in the chair. I get why it's there but I don't use a center flight stick. $1k price tag is a bit too much for me, but cool to see, they are nice looking.

Not sure if I will get one of the SC chairs, but I am planning on getting one of their non SC chairs because of the range of motion they allow for when using sticks.

1k.... I really cant find the right words

I bought some chairmounts from Monstertech about two months ago for my DX Racer chair. The mounts are not cheap, but they are super stable. I also have a mouse mat and keyboard tray now attached my chair. It really helps with immersion.

I like the theme they did for RSI as it is my second favorite manufacturer, but wondering what they will do for Origin personally as it is my favorite. Will probably end up with one of them in a MTSIM rig I am building as my next gaming desk with swap-able big desk for other keyboard and mouse games. Current gaming/office chair is the DXRacer Boss XL that they no longer make. It on sale was $600, but many office chairs go into the multi-thousand dollar range.

Eh, for a "gaming" chair it's probably fine (and they look really cool), but at this price point I'd 100% get the Herman Miller Embody or Aeron chairs when they go on sale.

I want an Origin chair in white leather but it needs to be a serta 12 hour manager or executive.

As a person who’s been sitting in the same $150 office chair for 5 years, I am very interested in a new and much better sitting experience, and I might actually be enticed into one of these, so I’ll be watching to see how it goes.

That all sounds promising, and it's probably mostly true. But it's still not a flight chair for pilots! It's an office chair, slightly modified.

Missed opportunity for a flying chair-punch intro

I try not to interfere with affiliate material. People gotta eat. Yet, I did chuckle at the part going over the chair's features. It leans back. It swivels. The chairs aren't for me, but if people have the money and want to buy it, then drop coin and go get it. This is Star Citizen.

You did great. Very clear and it was nice to see that you chose a specific use case. I am intending on the getting the Anvil chair with the mounts for center stick, right mouse+control panel extention, and left throttle. Monster tech is very durable and I think it'll be great alternative to my Herman Miller Embody chair. For one I like that it's tall and slim, the locking casters and central strut are a must. I just wish they would put the new chairs in the cockpit configurator.

Ill be disapointed if the drake chair is not just an ikea chair held together with drake tape :)

The chair’s armrests are really painful, they dig into your arms when using the flight sticks properly attached and adjusted. The chair caused me months of pain and several medical bills with pain similar to tennis elbow until a doctor figured it out and told me to quit using the chair. I have two other friends in the SC community that have suffered identical medical issues associated with this chair; I do not recommend it

An Origin chair would have to be baller! Or maybe a CNOU chair with the brown leather look.

I'd love to see an Origin chair, but that price tag is downright painful and will be a huge barrier for most.

@LuminairPrime nope. I always mount my stuff to my rig. Mike was speaking in terms of it as a chair. The "lockable wheels" are a $100 upgrade too which is nuts.

they should have started with Drak and Argo chairs.

I would go with black/blue with just a touch of white for origin!

Loving the look, but not the price. Would LOVE a Drake version, it would fit the aesthetic of having cables running everywhere.

No chair enthusiast would really consider this chair for the price point… but everyone can spend or misspend their money however they like. There are a couple of good chair reviewers on YT that can give good recommendations for this price point or less.

Being in a hot climate myself (Texas), have you ever tried the wool top version of the seat? I’m currently using a secret labs chair and the “synthetic leather” is being destroyed by my cats and by my butt. Also it’s hot to sit in. Thought maybe the wool would survive longer.

Ill never pay that much for such a simple product. I built my entire pc for just a little more than that years ago.

Postage ain't cheap either. At those prices I'd just splash for a herman miller.

I'd expect the chair to have a foot mount or joystick holders for that price. It's way beyond overpriced.

Was your chair sent to you for free to test out? In Cdn we have Uline and they have a great one for $490cdn. Ill use a white maker and write Drake on it and save myself some $. Total with shipping for 1 of the chairs comes to $1697.56 with GST. so Im saving $1207.56.
