    Mike I can't tell you how much I love this type of video. I'm super busy all the time and rarely get to see all the videos I'd like but with this sort of breakdown I feel like I get everything I need to know in one swoop. Thanks for all the hard work!

    I got something like this as a gift one time and used it every night until it broke, haven't looked for a new one but I recently moved to an apartment with light coming in the bedroom window at all times of the night and this looks perfect

    the number one thing we need most for tractor cargo loading is a toggle for "stop rotation" so things don't spin when they bump into something. If you're moving a box down a tight corridor the last thing you want to do is constantly be re-rotating it to be straight every time you bump something. The second thing they need to put in is the difference between static and kinetic friction; things that are stationary resist being moved; 400kg boxes don't jiggle around...

    agreed, actually moving cargo in 3.23 feels much worse than 3.22 was. bumping a 32 scu box and it spinning like a top is so annoying. Especially when time is of the essence.

    That'd be a good feature for an advanced tractor beam attachment, maybe unlocked through cargo mission rep. Maybe it'd require two beam points of contact so it's abit bigger but provides better object control and higher lift capacity.

    Well it's a tractor beam, so non rotation should be on by default. The whole point of a tool like that is to leave things in the static State until you affect the change via the tool in a very deliberate manner. Nothing should spin until you deliberately manipulate it in the direction you wanted to go.

    To be fair, it was "almost ready" back in Mar, when it was part of 3.23.0 which was planned for release in Apr.

    The mission exampled is so wrong in pricing the reward: First, you need a ship capable of fitting 95 SCU as listed, so at MINIMUM a Freelancer Max or Connie, Raft would be the fastest to load if the mission alows you to pick 3x 32 SCU container. Those ships cost at minimum ingame 3million aUEC, so lets say youve being haling with lower ships before you can buy a Freelancer MAX, how many hours or missions would you do get to that ship? 800 missions? They say 10 minutes..... no way you can land, go outside your ship, load, get back in, fly up, quantum, land on the destination, get out of your ship, unload, get paid and ready to pick another mission. Say a freelancer max for example, you need at least 30 seconds to get out and back in at each location, thats 2 minutes, 4 minutes estimated loading/unloading 8 more minutes, you at the 10 minutes without any flight time. Fuel costs not taken into account. 4k aUEC to haul 100 SCU even it was 100km away is in no way viable. You better off selling 4 SCU of drugs in a Cutter.

    Yeah for 5k you could buy 1 price of armor, you could buy 1 weapon, people aren’t going to have any fun of it takes years to save up for a space ship $100 can get them now… Oh wait a second

    How is using a kiosk not considered “ magical inventory” ? It’s still like using a screen to pick items and still isn’t physicalized inventory.

    well any physicalized inventory can have SW counterpart with UI to control it or at least know whats in that inventory, thats happening in real life these days, don know why it should't be a thing in future, the "physicalized" part is that the physical item wont automagicaly move into your hand/bag

    Instead of the drawers for inventory. Why don't they just, when clicking on those inventory terminals, that it just brings up a UI similar to Arena Commander's where you have slots for each item, and you then select what you want for a loadout, then apply it? Space magic then equips it to you and away you go. Just seems like a no-brainer to me if they're adamant about having these 'physicalised' inventories. Still be able to bring your items up on freight elevators to store on vehicles etc. but as for equipping loadouts, the system they have decided on for now seems idiotic.

    You could even add functionality we didn’t have before like saving a preferred loadout then every time you die or simply want to switch kits you just select your loadout and all you medpens,medgun,multi-tool, P4, and armor pieces automatically equip on your body as previously defined. Provided you actually have them “in-stock”.

    @@XTRaptor That is a good addition to that system. A one-click and apply all solution for loadouts to use certain activies too, not just respawning on death. Mining, Salvaging, Cargo, FPS Combat etc. All can be applied from the terminal in two clicks.

    I wouldn't be surprised if we crash into someone coming out of their hangar when going into our own. Also, cargo missions are going to be a disaster. From what I saw before, only one person can use the freight elevator at an outpost at a time. Ships are left on pads all the time, so other people won't be able to do anything at that location again. Also, is that guy being serious about cargo missions? Maybe 5 cargo missions an hour assuming the pads are even empty? A rate of 20k UEC per hour is atrocious compared to other things that have little risk. And 80-112 SCU is a lot. That rate should be for 4 SCU! And don't the basic delivery missions already pay that for a little box? Imagine pirating someone for this cargo mission and getting far more than the mission pays just because the cargo is worth more.

    The response to this criticism is always “oh don’t worry, they’re going to rebalance the economy,” which translates to “oh they will soon make every game loop pay this badly as well!” I try to be optimistic about the game, but this “rebalance” coupled with higher in-game ship prices definitely seems like it’s accomplishing a goal.

    If they're removing the personal inventories and are forcing players to use the Storage Access Kiosks....how am I supposed to grab the helmet out of my backpack if I accidently float out of my ship without my helmet on and no kiosk floating in space with me? With the current system, if I EVER forget to put my helmet back on, I can save my life in just a few seconds by pressing "i" and double-clicking the spare helmet I always keep in my backpack. The real-life comparison would be the 2 or 3 seconds it would take for a person to simply put their helmet on their head and press the neck seal button (it's a sim man...it HAS to be like real life...cause that's just so much fun) With the new system...if you're ever caught in an air-lock or other area without your helmet (oh no...that'll never happen...like...ever) then you'll basically have no option to quickly put your helmet back on, because I'm guessing kiosks aren't usually found in airlocks or out in the black of space. Someone - anyone - please tell me I have it wrong and CIG is NOT removing the ability to quickly access your own pockets and helmet without the need for a kiosk.

    Rather than have 50 helmets sitting around in the local inventory you can 'request' up to 50 helmets to the local inventory of the place you are in to physicalize it (which I imagine will have reduced scu capacity). You then take said physicalized helmet or whatever you picked with or on you to your ship.

    They probably want to detach the inventory from the player itself. Maybe performance related. Maybe they want to limit the amount of requests to the backend services per player. So the capacity per player will be 8 SCU. They did that for our ships. Now when we join PU we have to deliver ships to location one by one maybe the personal inventory thing related.

    They shouldn't have raised prices on ships until they had this all figured out. CIG half-baked it again. If you have a starter ship and you want to have an exclusive career as a bounty hunter, you will have to do 600 or so missions to be able to afford a Constellation Andromeda. 600. That right there is a video game that I don't want to play. Not to mention the left over bounty ships from other player's missions that never despawned.

    I think their intention is for players to split the cost of a ship. So if a ship designed for 4 crew you split the cost into 4 parts. Still not great but less terrible I guess

    Been looking for an answer to this probably dumb question... With all the furniture being mentioned... What about beds? Will it at all be possible to log out/sleep in our personal hangers? Would love if I'm at my home "base" i dont have to spawn in a hab and take a tram whenever i want to log on. I mean even if i got to use a ship bed while its sitting in my hanger would be sick...

    Item banks should have been the same inventory as you have when you press "i" but on a screen and just equip everything once you finish using it and peress equip.

    So if I pirate someone or come across a 32 SCU container that I then load into my ship and fly back to my Hangar and I dont have a medium+ hangar, im just shit out of luck I guess? Like what can i do with that container if its inside my small hangar? Will I be able to take it to a Salvage outpost and sell it still? Do I have to literally rent a bigger ship to then get access to a medium hangar so that I can sell this SCU box? Seems like a massive oversight to me.

    I wonder if this is Good Or Bad for us cargo runs, the economy changes is it gona be fun or just grind as in other games i really hope that the missions are something new we have not experienced before and not just a new disguise.

    Maybe weapons should just have their own area where each gun is stored in some weapon rack area and you can just gear up there. All those steps do sound cumbersome and should only be just for cargo.

    I would love it if we got cargo rewards or just meaningfull rewards for doing the grind *( cargo for instance ) you reach a level boom u get a new shield? orr engine or QT or something.. same with fighting/flying you get guns or shileds.. stuff you cant buy but need to get frm the grind like all good mmos i know they are looking at it but i wish it would come sooner than later lol

    I think the inventory is kind of a good thing to the server.. it helps unwanted items randomly dropped because inventory was so easy drag and drop i feel it should not be like that in the first place… this is apt for immersive verse you can loot realistically

    Finally partial-rewards, for any chained or linked deliveries with 4x or 10x Sub-Quests it was always so annoying to bug out or crash at the last stops and get nothing. I basically stopped doing them cause u mostly would only risk time on them - even when i liked them for the flair.

    Mike I don't think your interpretation is right that all interstellar traffic passes through Everus harbor. He only used that example because of the planetary system he was in, and yes it perhaps should have been worded better. But if you go back to like maybe minute 6 or 7 of the vid they show a flow chart called "Hierarchy and Size of Transport" and they also state that it the flow will be any LEO--->Jumpoint---->Different Star system

    Maybe load times are going to be something like the timer at the refinery. Maybe you can load a large ship while doing other things and then make the shipment later? Just a thought.

    This, I think people forget that CIG intends for us to have actual things to do other than just shop at Landing zones, things like repairing pipes, cleaning up trash, working for a food kiosk etc etc. I think that once more of these localized gameplay elements come online people will start to understand the purpose behind the load times

    the way to do it freight cargo is sold in rental units so you buy a ROOM and what ever you place in the room is instanced and have things like suit lockers etc for every armor store bought that respawns your armor if any part goes missing (boomarangs your items) can even have it so you can call a work area too like science and engineering. the item banks tho they are interesting concept i think they suck and make the verse look a bit poorly designed. like your items should be physical in the rooms snapped to what evber like weapons you buy come in a weapons crate that will be the respawn method for the perminant items then you just call the room you want and have the ability to color code your rooms in the grid too for quick access so people know what kind of items are in the freight room

    Crossing my fingers that Evo goes well and maybe by the end of the week we see a wave 1. We'll see if they can get a build stable enough to let run though before wave 1 happens lol

    I would be okay with missions paying basically nothing but it's hard to progress when they keep wiping everything I own every few months. This is the number one reason I don't play right now. I understand why they have to wipe but at least increase the payout in periods like this, I don't wanna grind in a game that actively resets itself.

    Will there be any reason to do low rank cargo hauling missions once you're are higher rank? I'm thinking about simulation of economy. Will there be an actual economy affected by what people haul? Or is that just a faked economy now and simply a gameplay loop where you haul the highest rank missions only and it doesn't really affect any supply and demand anywhere?

    Just subbed. Question to anyone that knows I suppose: With the item kiosk, what's stopping us from just moving every item out of kiosk to old inventory UI? HOPEFULLY it's doable and everybody does it to make them realise how STOOOOOPID the née character loadout is RN!

    Thanks Mike! Ive always assumed the massive inflation currently in-game would be delt with when they start seriously looking at mission rewards. Personally, i don't think the example they gave of some 4500ish UEC for a delivery is unreasonable as a starting point. People are just USED to seeing profits in the hundreds of thousands at this point in development. As commodity prices and mission rewards start to become more fleshed out, i think prices for things like ships and such will start to come down. Edit: Another thing that just came to mind... Taking missions means you are working as a contractor for some company or organization. Your profit wont be as high simply taking a mission as compared to if you were to take it upon yourself to look at supply/demand and buy here, sell there.

    It really does depend on a number of factors (e.g. costs of needed fuel and supplies relative to reward), several beyond CIG's control (how likely are you to get interdicted which depends on population levels). If I can take a few missions at a time from point A to point B that also changes the calculation, but if it's the current model then it has to be almost standalone. They have control over that now, but not so much once quantum is switched on.

    Its NOT reasonable. If you dont have any gameplay problems maybe, but even then, no. At this point in time you will get bancrupt by doing those missions, as you will loose so much to bugs.

    I've been running lower paying commodity hauls the last few days for two reasons, one, I knew they'd be messing with pricing and against the player, so might as well be use to it. Two, because they were lower risk and insanely easy to accomplish... No AI arbitrarily showing up to fight every other haul and no other players in sight. Oh, and 3, it's not the meta so I could always sell off the entire load. 😂

    Difficulty. This may be the stumbling block if it revp;ves around combat. Whar is noddy for some is borderline impossible for others. I'm not that interested in combat so if cargo requires a large slice of combat as an integral part then my interest will drop. I suspect I may not be alone in that.

    I think we need to think about the new player experience a bit I bin playing for ever I got my friend to start playing he only had a starter ship he did ok gathering some gear but when he would die he would get so frustrated having to get new space suit I think Readjusting pay out for starter missions may cause Moore frustration may be the space suit prices need to come down a bit you can easily spend 5 k on light set and when you are just starting that can be a big hit he felt like he was grinding hard and getting nowhere I had to step in and help him out just so he wouldn't quite over it I think it’s we forget what it’s like for new players sometimes as lots of us have bin playing Since before planets where a thing and we evolved with the new things being aded and even have mining ships and salvage so we don’t feel it like those with only starter ships and prices going up for in game ships kind of forcing to spend real money to make the grind harder I get ships should be valuable but we need to keep some smaller ships somewhat reasonable to earn as well

    I hope they remove the inflation and make ship purchases a real grind, especially as you get into multi-crew. Everyone making millions per hour just ruins any sense of risk on investment and cheapens the experience. I'm ok with ships being very attainable during the Alpha, but for the real game I hope it's a grind. I say this as someone with 3 kids and almost no time to game, but I want to spend a month with my friends pooling together to afford a Connie type ship.

    "Economy" ok. It's almost like cig just hates user experience. Honestly I think they're going through all these loopholes because they really can't manage to cut it on the server management end. The inventory system is one of those things that you don't need 10 years to figure out, because the entire gaming population already figured it out 20 years ago. I imagine this convoluted process is similar to the asop terminals changes a few months ago. I have to believe it's a technical work around because it's hard for me to believe that the entirety of cig is this bad at user experience. Maybe they just have a pathological need to reinvent the wheel every time. Because it's atrocious. They need to limit this cargo elevator system to cargo and vehicles, in the and keep the I paper doll method for anything personal. We're done problem solved As far as personal hangers overall I don't know how much I'm going to end up using them. I generally try to get off planet as quickly as possible and spend most of my time in the orbiting stations or bed logging while in space. They also missed a huge opportunity with the elevators. They could have cut the whole experience time in half by simply opening the doors and having the elevator come from underneath, as opposed to having the elevator go down and then back up again. Search basic fails.

    It sucks and it will continue to do so. They give the definition of wasting time a new meaning. You wont be able to do a single mission in 5 hours in 1 year i guess. Timesinke because they cant get proper gameplay implemented.

    Ah yes, let's do 5 4k aUEC missions before the server gets caught in a recovery loop and wastes more of my time. What a joke. It's already impossible to do anything to save up for a ship if you aren't mining or cargo hauling. Being a bounty hunter or Merc should have a significantly higher payout than it does in game and so far it just makes me feel like a well armed poor.

    Get a ship with cargo and VHRTs(quant, med supplies) and ERTs(weevils, Quant, E'tam, wIdoW, Med supplies) can up the payout by up to 6million per run

    I'd say the only point I disagree with initially is the retrieval of items from the item bank. Breaking an action down to the number of clicks i think is a bit much. If those clicks only take a few seconds, I don't see this being an issue. I'll wait to make my final decision on this when it comes to live. Right now however, I don't think I share the same negative feeling as Mike does on this one.

    For starters, the servers so far have been sluggish at best, meaning you have to wait several seconds for each click to register. Second, even if that gets fixed, it still seems redundant. Why don't they just let you directly equip stuff from the kiosk interface? If you insist on immersion, there could be a small animation where the character pulls the item out of the dispenser. But essentially having to click everything twice (because what else would you do after the wonkavator-mail-tube delivered the item to the drawer?) feels unnecessarily convoluted to me.

    @@Karackalyeah I was under the impression that the item banks would just be the replacement for the magic inventory. It would force people to land and interact but, the way it’s described sounds a bit too convoluted. Slowing the game down is good but this might get in the way of the fun, tho I supposed we should reserve judgement and see for ourselves.

    this map should better than the 3D for me ... click where I want to go ... easy algo for reward, increase the price of the mission are not take by user every hour. reduce the one the player took each time they took it, make all on a tick arte each hour to increase or decrease the reward. Mission reward become more dynamic with 1% brain usage.

    "A lot of clicks for no reason". The reason is that they really can't "fix" the backend databases and so they have reduced the footprint on them by making it more clunky and selecting only items which will go in old inventory instead of showing a lot of items for every player.

    This year has been awesome, so much has been done and more to come. When they say something is coming and it misses the mark or is delayed, that truly doesn't bother me. Id rather them take extra time and figure it out than get a messy start. And the item bank extra clicks are whatever let them cook a bit. Im sure at the end of the day it will all make sense
