This video gave me so much joy. My first ROC experience I didn't have a ship big enough so I drove 6km into the mountains, in the dark, outside SMO-18 on microTech and promptly overcharged a rock, disabling the ROC. I walked the 6km back to the facility and with its glowing lights in sight and within reach, I fell into a crevasse and died. Good times!

That was an excellent video, but for an experienced ship and ground vehicle miner, I see you made a lot of mistakes, which would have saved you time. The first mistake is that you did not need to fly to an outpost to spawn your ROC if you were starting off at Lorville. You can spawn your ROC at the outer gates at Lorville. The second mistake was flying all the way to Crusader to start mining. The Moons around Hurston are the best for ROC mining. One in particular is Ariel if you are looking for Hadnite.

@@CaptainFlynn117 Careful wth Ariel - You will need a HOT suit (Pembrooke) and your ROC will over heat. Bring the BIG tractor gun so you can load your ROC back in your Cutty when it over heats. She might coold down and turn back on.. but you will atleast be able to transfer your gem load into the Cutty. I like Daymar because its not a fire death ball, has Hadonite, and close mining stations to sell the gems. BUT... Ariel will get you rich the fastest.. more risk, more reward. There are special foods you can eat and drink before hand to help you stay hydrated because again.. Ariel sucks about things that are alive.. lol

@@bschannel5236 yes the Cutlass looks huge but it's tiny compared to the Corsair. I love my Cutty Black, so much so that I even went as far as to pay real money for it so I don't have to grind for it on the next wipe. But I always feel that the Cutlass has a lot of wasted space behind the Cockpit. They could easily have added another 4-6 SCU of cargo space and still kept the bunks and the turret. They could certainly have added a shower / toilet because the much smaller Cutter has one.

I just got a 7950X3D with a 4090, I get well over 100 fps now and the difference is night and day, but so is the price. If the price is worth the performance and higher resolution for you, I'd recommend it. If not, it's still very playable with a lower spec pc, especially with DLSS

I enjoyed watching you trying out ROC mining. I've only done a bit of mining myself, and done more trading (which is very annoying with that bug spawning enemies inside armistice zones) and salvaging. As a beginner, I did a lot of box runs. I don't know if the late stage box runs are still in the game, as I haven't built my rep for that back up again. But having to find a bunch of boxes in a bunker, that may or may not be attacked, is a fun one in my opinion. I see that people have already mentioned you can get the ROC at Lorville (closest place is a few kilometers from the spaceport). NewBabbage also have a similar option. If you can get access to a ship that can be called at a vehicle station (Pisces or any snub ship not bound to the ground as the "motorcycle speeders" are) you can fly up from there and learn the route backwards to the spaceport. However, finding a description or video covering it might be faster. :)

@@CaptainFlynn117 I did a lot of them back in 3.20 and 3.21. So no enemies spawning in armistice zones (where most collect and drop-offs were) and I flew a Pisces. The standard and the expedition variants are perfect for those box missions. I also think the missions themselves tend to glitch more often, and one glitched box and the entire mission is impossible to complete. So, I'm not surprised you didn't stuck with it. If they still are in, I think it was 45K reward, where you have to find 3 boxes in the bunker. And a good chance to find some nice weapon (snipers, LMGs, railguns, etc) while looking.

Love this video! Honestly before I started ROC mining I saw more than 5 videos in order to learn. Best hint of those videos: be no more than 2,500ft, put your ship on nav mode, scan/tab frequently. You will normally see 15km, 12km unknown rocks, you will follow those one but keep scanning each 2-3 seconds and randomly it will appear 5km or less unknown rocks, those 100% will be Hadanite, those pay 275UEC each. I saw another guy on youtube doing this, i follow his steps and it’s LEGIT. 100% will always be Hadanite. Oh and most importantly, Best place to mine Hadanite is on Aberdeen 100%

I'm also new to the verse, been ROC mining for a couple weeks. I'd recommend mining on Magda, moon of Hurston, for a couple of reasons - there are almost no pirates there, I have seen only one, while on Daymar I was attacked far too often while collecting the Roc, and there's almost no aphorite there, which you don't want to mine, cause it's bugged and you can't sell it in stacks. Also when you scan you can pretty much ignore everything that's more than 5km away, roc mineables will always be under 5km (very often like 1.5-2.5 range) and they don't always show up on the first scan, you want to spam it and constantly look around. As for the signature, ROC mineables always have a signature that can be divided by 620, 620 being a single rock, so you can determine how much rocks are there and if it's worth your while. Good luck, I love the series!

Dude that was way harder work than it needed to be, but that's fine we all had to start somewhere. One of the tricks of ROC mining is to know where to go. Go to OM1 and fly straight down towards the moon. One of the main reasons is you will always be in the sunlight. Also fly towards the sun. You definitely want Hadanite, don't waste your time with Dolavine as it's worth a lot less than Hadanite, plus it's a lot more unstable. Aphorite is currently bugged, so don't bother with it. When you get into it you can make about 250 to 300 k an hour, mining Hadanite. Another trick if you accidentally overcharge the Rock just move the beam away from it. The reason your ROC was damaged was because you exploded the rocks and that's what did the damage. Explosions are generally bad. It was nothing to do with New Deal. LOL Also if you have a backpack and remember to bring a tractor beam you can easily pick up the mined rocs by hand and then transfer them to your Cutty Black. Keep trying, ROC mining has long been my go to money making loop, at least until I discovered Scraping panels with the Vulture.
