To begin, I am a new priesthood teacher (14yrs). Yesterday, I was browsing through some criticism of the church and joseph smith, and BoM being plagiarized, and I had never felt so defeated in my whole life, and began to think, with more despair than ever, is this church really true. So I did what I usually do. I prayed. I prayed for an answer and sign. Little did I know until today, January 25th, 2019, that the very day I went through the trials, my prayer was answered. Everything Brother Corbridge said felt like it was made like he was talking to me. I am still stunned, and know that just the fact that my prayer was answered so fast and in such a wonderful way, that I know this is the true church of god. This was a miracle to me, and I am happy to be a member of this church, the church of jesus christ of latter day saints. And this will forever be a part of my testimony.

When I was defeated by homesickness, doubt and fear back in 2002, this man saved my life. He listened to me, counseled with me and ultimately convinced me to stay and see my two years to the end. It was the most amazing privilege to have this great man as my mission president, to constantly be so near to such an endless fountain of knowledge and wisdom.

This talk really helped strengthen my testimony and my wife’s testimony. I know my Dad was inspired to share this talk with me. I’m so thankful for the opportunity to repent Because of my Savior and redeemer Jesus Christ.

A dear friend of mine, who converted to the Restored Gospel 2 years ago, has struggled since then with both the natural man and the deceptions of man, which have attacked his testimony relentlessly. I went through the same adversity over 50 years ago as a young college student, and I encouraged my young friend to persist in the testimony that first opened the Heavens to his soul. I am grateful that he not only found this talk by Elder Corbridge through his own efforts and the Spirit's guidance, but shared it with me, because I consider it a valuable tool of the God of the Heaven to strengthen the faith of many who struggle with the darkness of our day. Because of my struggle years ago I am firmer in my faith in my Savior than I otherwise would be. I pray that all who similarly struggle might also feel that "peace that passeth all understanding" that comes to all who know and love Him, of which Elder Corbridge so aptly testifies.

It would be my wish that the world would hear his words to help them gain strength in the knowledge of Jesus Christ and His Father and the Restored Gospel..

He literally just bore his testimony in my sacrament meeting today and he’s not in our ward….half way through his speaking I thought he sounded like an apostle or something, such eloquent speech. So when he sat down and the lady after him got up, she was like “[I felt prompted to listen your ‘Stand Forever’ talk this morning and now BOOM! Here you are!”] it was very cool :) He shared that he believes be church-centered and Christ-centered, so from my understanding I think he’s imploring of us to focus more on Jesus Christ in everything we do….

A large percentage of active LDS in the USA have a family member or close relative step-away from the church. Our family has a few children who have left also. The Gospol topic essays led the path out because of the progressive revisionist church-history tone. Some active LDS scholars present a Joseph who utilized multiple seerstones and magic, and treasure digging, not using the Urim & Thummim, nor the gold plates, etc. But there are conservative LDS scholars who look at the same history and believe Joseph and Oliver at their word, that Joseph used the Urim & Thummim.... I read their books and listen to their podcasts. John W Welch believes Joseph's word. And so does Jonathan Neville.. for starters. As do Ezra Taft Benson, Joseph Fielding Smith, Mark E Peterson, Craig Ostler.!

You are absolutely incredible. Your talk blew me away. How profound! If anyone does not get this, it's either because they genuinely lack understanding or they simply choose to feel offended by truth and and so they choose to harden their hearts. And if that's the case, how sad indeed. We pray for such and hope they will come around 🙏🏿. Thank you so much for your beautiful faith. You are truly an instrument in the hands of the Lord, a true disciple of Jesus Christ. The Spirit of Christ has spoken. Who can not hear? Humble yourself before God through prayer and ask. God won't lead you astray.

When I was widowed in 1990 my family was blessed by Lawrence Corbridge. He supported me spiritually and taught me the truths of no despairing but remaining faithful and keeping my life simple. He knew my name and those of my family. He loved and respected my husband Steve and blessed him with the priesthood which brought him great comfort in his final days on the earth. In a day and age when so many members of the church of Jesus Christ of latter day saints are falling away and becoming discouraged this talk speaks to them. It is do not become discouraged but stand strong, be brave and and carry on!

I have second thoughts, sometimes. I have doubts about certain things. Then I pray about it. I am always comforted and testified to by the Holy Spirit. The naysayers cannot understand this because they choose not to. I have to consider the motives and sources of dissension. Usually, they are simply saying "Oh yeah?" when they hear a truth or someone witnesses to them. They have nothing to offer except darkness, doubt, and fear. Sometimes they call it "empowerment". Empowerment to....what? To glory in one's own sins, as Korihor said to do. "And thus he did preach unto them, leading away the hearts of many, causing them to lift up their heads in their wickedness...."

All 4 methods are required to know the truth. 1. Scientific Method - experimenting upon the truth 2. Analytical Method - gathering, organizing and weighing evidence relevant to a question 3. Academic Method - study of the written word 4. Divine Method - incorporates the three other methods and taps into the power of heaven. “Ultimately the things of God are made known by the Spirit of God which is usually a still, small voice"

This is my favorite BYU speech. I think it goes so well through so many important things: you can never prove something by disproving everything else, at least in this world of finite knowledge and time. Affirmative proof is necessary. I love how he combines the ideas of using logic and reasoning with the Spirit of God. He gave us brains for a reason: we ought to use them. He also gave us the capacity to feel and be touched by the Spirit: that we must also learn to use. In the world, the common belief is not to listen to your heart, your soul: self-preservation and the desire to “succeed” is what you should follow, they say. But I love how he points out that the evidence for God, Jesus, the gospel, and His church is overwhelming.

The truthfulness of restored gospel will always be discernable by anyone who wants to know the truth. Mans struggle for light, truth and redemption are a personal journey and are obtained by desire, effort and repentance. If this were not the case, only those of greater intelligence and vast amounts of time and study would have a testimony of Jesus.

This precise line of thinking came to me some years ago. I'm not patting myself on the back I'm just saying this was incredibly validating and we have been told that when the Spirit speaks to us, we are actually learning truth and that we will not have separate ideas or understandings, but that we will all understand identically. Behold. This is also wonderfully laid out in Alma - Simply experiment upon the word, or do his will and we will know whether or not it is His doctrine or if He simply speaks of himself.

What an inspired talk! He kept coming back to this one because it's the one he needed to give! He speaks as one who has stared the darkness in the eye. I've seen, heard, and felt that gloom that accompanies lies and deception. You can feel it's bad and wrong. He's read all of these falsehoods and had to hear about people lost in the darkness. It is truly the evil fog that blinds people and if you're not close enough to feel the spirit you may not feel that gloom and darkness that comes with Satan's lies. When you read the scriptures you get the opposite feeling of light and love. Just those feelings alone should be enough for people to know the truth in these things.

With the exception of the admonition of our beloved prophet, there is not a talk more profound and impactful that was given this year, than this one. It is the talk that all students (and especially youth) need to hear. I use this talk for my Seminary class and I just love the power of his testimony and advice to us all. We truly are only as good as we have knowledge to be--thus we need to seek, ask, and knock (and pray) to receive more of the mysteries of God to be revealed to us by the Holy Ghost. We will be better servants as we do this.

The first time I listened to this talk, it changed my life forever. I had so many doubts regarding particular “secondary questions” and I was scared that because of the existence of those doubts, that meant the church wasn’t true. But then one of my best friends shared this talk with me and as I listened, I felt the spirit so strong, and my mind was taken back to the times on my mission where I testified of the truthfulness of the gospel in its most simplistic form and where I witnessed my investigators do the same. This talk taught me that it’s ok to have questions, but to never let those questions make me doubt the answers to the primary questions that I know with all my heart.

I liked his talk. Everything good and uplifting feeds my soul. As an example. I don’t read the scriptures daily as I should and it shows. I don’t have a balanced diet as I should and it shows. Sometimes that makes obvious things seem so wonderful. My wife and I teach about 10 little boys(activity days twice a month) we were putting together our activity and my wife read a scripture to me. That scripture filled my soul, it felt like I was lagging due to lack of nourishment and I just eat a power bar. I was nourished spiritually from that one scripture most of the day.

I took three years to join the church. I heard him speak the short version of this talk in General Conference and thought, “How lucky this generation is to get a comprehensive help to an enquiring mind’s journey in faith?” Wow, might’ve helped me cut off two+ years on that journey and baptized sooner! Thank you, dear brother. I can tell that assignment was a Golgotha for your sweet soul. To walk in darkness for others is a powerfully painful and vicarious journey. Thank you.

For me what stood out most was that the worst thing to experience in this life is, not what we typically think of, but the absence of the spirit of God. Absolutely. I have known that feeling, and it is awful. I think when we feel the joy the spirit of God brings, we never want to lose it, but it must be nourished to maintain that connection.

I love this topic, I have a Brother that left the church, he has 9 kids all of them followed, all of them now have kids, that's a lot of people now that do not have the Doctrine of Christ. This topic goes right along with Stand Forever by LAWRENCE E. CORBRIDGE talk. We need to know these questions, they need to be burned into us through the Holy Ghost. 1. Is there a God who is our Father? 2. Is Jesus Christ the Son of God, the Savior of the world? 3. Was Joseph Smith a prophet? 4. Is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints the kingdom of God on the earth? I also have no doubts, just questions. We need to be asking questions, that's how we get revelations. Love you all💕💕🙏

We stand best when we stand together. We need to be among people who want to know and remember our feelings. We can be very strong together, and very weak apart. Life is not meant to be entirely a do it yourself project. We should try to feel bound together, especially families.

What a great and powerful speech. He is so right. We must answer those primary question, and those answers, in their full power to convince, only come by the Holy Spirit. Anything less than that lacks the power we need. For years I questioned even the existence of God based on assertions from science. I managed to keep on the gospel path based on experiences which I felt were answers to prayer. Finally after many years of struggle with doubt, a personal experience answered the first two primary questions with such power that there is no longer any doubt. I know God lives, that he loves us and that Jesus Christ is our Lord and Savior. This turned all my questions upside down. Now when a “scientist” claims that life could come into existence without God I think to myself; I know God exists so why wouldn’t he be involved in the origin of life. It is obvious that God was right in the middle of it the whole way. Now I am just learning how he might have have gone about the process. I am still working on the other two questions. Judging by how long it took me to answer the first questions it may take awhile.

Many have spoken to me about their doubt. They would speak about misunderstanding of doctrines and new evidences that have surfaced about the church. I have asked them, “how do you explain the Holy Ghost?” I have always maintained alliance to my testimony of the primary questions. I tell them, “every time I move toward the truthfulness of the gospel and it’s teaching I feel more spirit. Every time I move from the gospel, let go of the iron rod, become slothful in my faith, I feel less spirit”. Test. Live the gospel fully for 3 months. Read 30 minutes of the Book of Mormon daily. Pray daily. Attend church and serve others. Knowledge has 2 pillars. Intellect and experience. To gain knowledge for yourself, you must DO. Be a do’er of the word. - awesome 😎
