This is absolutely my favorite talk of all the 1000's of ward, stake, devotional, and conference talks I've ever heard. The Holy Spirit teaches me something new and powerful about Jesus Christ every time I hear this talk. I did not understand the doctrine of grace before this talk. Thank you!!!

This needs to be replayed at every commencement. In this world of contempt, I need to repent and love the unloveable I have created since there is no such thing to God.

The first time I listened to this talk, it changed my life forever. I had so many doubts regarding particular “secondary questions” and I was scared that because of the existence of those doubts, that meant the church wasn’t true. But then one of my best friends shared this talk with me and as I listened, I felt the spirit so strong, and my mind was taken back to the times on my mission where I testified of the truthfulness of the gospel in its most simplistic form and where I witnessed my investigators do the same. This talk taught me that it’s ok to have questions, but to never let those questions make me doubt the answers to the primary questions that I know with all my heart.

Wonderful, Tender, expression of our eternal purpose. The only thing we take from this life into the next is our relationships. Family is primary and worth the time to repent, forgive, cherish, honor, protect, in short become love.

A tip for all college students watching this... make and keep the living of the gospel of Jesus Christ the primary motivation in your life. I've had too many friends fall away from the church because, despite their efforts, they did not receive the blessings of a family. I suppose they thought prospering in the land was a temporal blessing and not the actual blessing of inheriting this earth in it's Celestial Glory, even this promised land. These blessings come to the most capable and the most foolish, the most eager and the laziest. And sometimes, depending on who you are led to marry, your spouse may not be a blessing at all. And so, yes, I echo all that this good brother said, but add that if we don't make the living of the Gospel our top priority at all times... it won't matter much what else we make our priority in this life--in the end. As we eagerly accept, make, and keep our covenants with God as he gives us commandments, it will be easy to then desire to make, keep, and magnify our marital covenants--if that is the path we are allowed in this mortal probation.

To know what now-President Holland was about to experience in the two years following this talk is an almost unimaginable testimony of the truth of his words. All of us must go through the sanctification of fire eventually and, without the Savior, none of us would survive it. Hold on and keep your eyes on His. He won't let you down and, in the end of all things, it will have been worth every agony.
