A HUGE THANK YOU!!! As a Captain and teacher I have come across this many, many times and whenever I have female shooters this is the first thing I look at. I scanned the entire internet looking for anything that addressed this in stance and found nothing. I've known other female players that use their breast as a guide as well but the majority don't like doing that and I had one that was very well endowed that we had to change a couple things on just exactly as you pointed out! Maybe since you've now brought this more into the mainstream other females will be able to learn from it. Again, HUGE thank you for this!!

I have this SAME issue and all my male pool players would try to "help" me and would get frustrated because I couldn't shoot like a man. I had to watch other female players and ask other female players how they shoot to adjust for boobs. It made such a difference and now I'm moving up in rank and way less frustrated at the table! Great video.

Glad you figured it out thru other people and not so frustrated anymore. As for me I fixed mine not by asking others but by just being conscious of my stroke mechanics and body, what my body did during stroke to realize if my arm was a true straight pendulum and not hindered in anyway. Then I adjusted accordingly, using the stroke mechanic founds in the science of pocket billiards as a base. Now I'm shooting in the top 5 of my pool hall, the best banker in the city for sure.

Well done, Jasmine. I remember watching Karen Corr play and wondering just how women managed to navigate this anatomical impediment to proper cueing. It's a situation which needs to be discussed and, frankly, a lot of people are worried about 'offending' people in the political climate we now have. Girls need adjustment coaching to get around this issue and it is very likely some talented amateurs have quit the game, instead of going pro, because they couldn't find a way to aim properly after puberty and didn't get help. This is an issue that needs to be openly and pragmatically addressed and it starts with someone daring to raise the subject, like you did.

If you're competitive like world title competitive, perhaps having a low cut/bald or some hair wrap is optimal. Less to worry about and that style looks great on females. Also wearing appropriate clothing. All the females I see at our bar always have their thongs and backsides showing when they shoot. It gets worse at night and summer.

As a basketball coach (and former player), the similarities between the shooting forms is astounding... visualization, creating a solid base, keeping the elbow in close as you move through the stroke, followthrough... and that's just the start. Anyway, I have also had to make corrections to kids' form on the fly as they grow, and have seen similar things. This was another great video, Jasmin, so thank you for sharing your passion and experience with us, and please take care 😊

I actually noticed this and proceeded to change her stance to mimic yours and I told her to find the most comfortable stance until she doesn’t hit her breasts.. and she ended up having such a similar stance to yours. It made a world of difference on her 9th and 10th day of training. Now she beats players who have been playing longer than she has. She is quite the natural and I hope she gets more interested in this game as she grows. Love your videos ❤ keep up the good work! 🙏👍

I do the same with my students, whether it be a larger man or female students. Really all students, because everyone is different in height, size, length of arms, flexibility, etc. It's funny, like you I've noticed it's rarely if ever talked about, and I have over 100 books on pool, not there. Much like getting your head behind the shot line and keeping it there on the way down, which so many students do incorrectly. Yet almost all pro do this and it's so critical but rarely talked about. Thanks for the informative video, I recommend your channel to everyone, I think you do a great job at presenting information and of course demonstrating it as well. Look forward to more videos!

Thank you Jasmin. Details matter! This happens with women and men. I personally had this issue. After quite a while, t began to realize the reason misses occurred at times was because the cue toughed the chest during the stroke. Ronnie O'Sullivan's stance (and yours) but for me Ronnie's open stance finally gave me the visual aid needed to make a permanent change.

Very important to address this, thank you. Two things to think about: a) for some female (and male) players the cue deviates to the side only after the grip hand is impacting the chest in the finish position. So cueing was straight when the cue ball was struck and it is more an aesthetical issue. Sometimes you can see this a little bit even with Allison Fisher. Relaxing the grip hand after delivery can help soften the impact and lessen deviation. And b): Stance and foot position is a complicated trade off and there are coaches with very different views. An important aspect is where a player hits her chest. Hitting the upper part is preferred because there is more clearance and less soft tissue that hinders follow-through. To avoid hitting the lower part with the grip hand on impact it can be better to stand more squarely to the shot than sideways (also can help with balance). I know a female player around Fargo 600 who got this advice from Jeremy Jones and shoots better with a more square snooker stance. It also helped with better eye alignment to the shot and better balance. Best practice examples: Allison Fisher, Kelly Fisher. Experimenting with different foot positions is key here and seeing a coach is definitely worth it. Check out: kzread.info/dash/bejne/k3qKsZiEg6eTZZc.html

Breast size, men with big bodies, individual physiology matters in every sporting endeavor. For women out there, look no further than Allison Fischer. Allison who many believe to be the greatest female pool player of all time has one of the most perfect stances I have ever seen and she is not small chested. But there is more. Even eye dominance matters. Right handed left eye dominant players can stand more sideways to the shot with less neck strain. If looking at men, go watch some videos of Steve Mizerak. Steve who was clinically obese for many years which ultimately caused his premature death sadly, he was right eye dominant and left handed and he unusually cupped his left wrist to create more room between his cue and body due to his rotund waistline. What is remarkable if you watch old video of Steve's stroke is how long his follow thru was. Steve created enough separation between his body and the cue that his follow through was completely unimpeded and in part aside from his size why he had such a powerful stroke. So, no one size fits all and there are many workaround solutions to individual physiology. A related note about women's breast size and golf. Large chested women struggle a bit more playing golf. Why? Because they can't separate their arm swing from their body turn as easily. This generally results in a flatter swing plane which relies more on timing to hit the ball straight. But, large chested women like Paige Spiranac famous for her figure can still play to a scratch handicap by making adjustments. Years ago when I was a little kid, I know you are an excellent athlete Jasmin....I grew up swimming competitively and the boys knew the girls on the swim team. There was an elite swimmer girl who when very young was nationally ranked. Then, as she went through puberty, she grew large breasts and she was no longer at the same level. Still a good swimmer but her development reduced her speed in the water.

I was doing this! Hired a coach a month ago and the first thing she did was fix my stance so I wasn't going around and instead able to go straight through. It was so unknown to me that I was doing this. And I especially loved the part at the end because I am a Snooker player trying to switch over to pool and I want to stand facing straight, but I can see now that it's a lost cause. P.S. It's "look over" not "overlook" important since overlook basically means to ignore).

Thank you for this! I'm currently having stroke issues. I used to shoot almost everyday for 34 years. (I have some local trophies.) In 2010, I took a pool "hiatus" and resumed last year. My wife of 38 years is a great cook, so I gained about 20 pounds. When I resumed, I noticed that my cue ball does not always hit "the mark", sometimes off by over a quarter of an inch. I didn't grow breasts but I think that my body widened a bit and is causing this very problem. Thank you for making me think about this!

If you’re standing more sideways (for the reason you mentioned) Allison Fisher might come and push you sideways showing that you are unstable. But I agree, you have to have room for the full stroke.

My trainer actually referred to your video! 🤩 (He's the coolest. 🤫) We were trying to figure out why I keep hitting myself occasionally while working on my stance. At first I thought I'm just stupid, but anatomy plays a big role here apparently. 😅 Still, sometimes I'm unsure if I should use my chest as a little helper or try turning a little as you do. I feel like giving room between chest and cue might be the better option though, cause it allows for a straighter and cleaner shot. A big thank you for addressing this issue! 🙌 Hoping to see you in person one day soon, greetings from Germany ☺️

Yes, this is a major issues for many females. Good to see someone talking about it. Hopefully the instructors around the world will pay more attention to this. But this issue is not just about females - although it mostly is. Men can have this issue, and not just overweight men. I had this issue and I am in pretty damn good shape. My stance allowed for the my hand and cue to hit the LOWER part of the right side of my chest on my stroke. It would slightly throw the cue off line to the left, which caused me a lot of problems. Once I had my wife take a video of me from behind I realized what was happening. Even though I could feel the cue hitting my chest, I did not realize how much it was affecting my stroke. I changed my stance slightly and solved the issue very quickly. Hopefully this video is going to help a lot of female players, but also male players.

Yes. I have noticed that and incorporated that in classes. I noticed this first with a rather voluptuous woman and it was obvious. She changed two things: wearing a bra that “flattened” and adjusted her stance. Regardless. It remained a bit of a problem but it was a major improvement.

Great video Jasmine! Even male body types can have the same issues … just saying. There are so many things that influence your stroke! I’ve had a two hour lesson with Earl Strickland but would love a lesson from you.. he was intense yet very helpful but you seem much more mellow

nice video !! I am a carom billiard coach and I always am amazed by the fact that in carom there's so little focus on this. Anyone who has te ambition to become beter ( anyone who comes to a coach ) in carom comes after a few years of collecting bad habbits en thinks that in a few sessions all is explained en everything should be beter after a month or so. Mostly I need a few months to correct, bad posture en many other stuff and I try to explain that the progress should go much faster if they focus on resetting a lot of things and that they should train it so much. sounds familair ?

Thank you for all your videos, I’ve noticed your brother is left eye dominant and I’m just wondering if you can give some examples for personal vision center in a video.

Jeanette Lee did 5 videos on basics. I think she just included it in the way she presented it without mentioning it? I wondered why I would hit my chest sometimes. I didn't realize I was so close. It was the video on stance and stepping into the shot.

Jasmin, I'm literally the same size as you, but double d's (thanks genetics!) Thanks for covering this, also hips change. I have the issue you showed, now tonight I'm going to apply what you showed. Thank you! Also wearing two sports bras helps 😅

Yeah we aren't allowed to talk about men and women being different especially if it implies any kind of physical disadvantage... Thank you for addressing this issue. Just reading the comments shows how much it needed to be addressed. And now I can just have someone watch this video to avoid awkwardness, or worse, accusations.

Thanks for the video, I always feels like I'm hitting my chest before hitting the cue ball.
