Few days ago this song suddenly popped in my head like a distant memory and I instantly saw flashbacks of this life I once lived in Chernobyl...This game is not like any other.

you have to play stalker lost alpha (standalone mod) the mod was in development since 2007 and converted stalker into the game it was supposed to be when announced in 2004 :3

No kidding. Stalker is a real game, realistic, about adults, not cartoony like Fallout.

I finished today. Stalker is like a movie or a good book from the Soviet Union days. It seems boring at first but, if you give it a chance, you feel like it touches your soul.

Heh. Only now i understand, "scarlet" is letter permutation from "stalker".

once you play stalker, it becomes a part of you. its like the hours you put into the game translated into years of your life, of memories. stalking is unforgettable. the weariness you feel coming back from an especially stressful and hard raid on a lab or bandits takes its toll as you sell your goods to sidorovich. you have thousands of roubles but you don't care anymore, money is barely a notch of your life in chernobyl anymore, you just want to live and experience the zones mysteriousness. thank you so much, GSC game world for giving us such an amazing and intense series like stalker. thank you for giving me such an amazing series.

I'll never get so many strong feelings related to a video game again. S.T.A.L.K.E.R series just were amazing and just keep in mind that the modding commuinity still works with that files after all the time that went by. The love to Stalker will never die. The Zone will always be there.

Well guys..I am new too stalker and I just did the mission when I had to return the hard drive back on that club to the barist and now I am on my road to other tasks,I liked the music on the duty base so i decided to look for it on youtube,thank you! :)

I only played and learned of the entire series this year, a decade after it’s release but god damn these are some of the best games ever made, modded or unmodded.

I still remember loading the game up for the first time, couldn't get past those damn bandits the first time. I quit for a year and once I booted it up again, I was immediately immersed into the stroy. Best game trilogy made, best soundtracks, best story, best ending, best voice acting, best characters. STALKER - you have them all.

Probably one of the best atmospheres in a game i have ever seen.

Some pretty good stuff you've got there.

Fun fact, In Original Stalker version, music and guitar songs had its use against Mutants. If music was playd mutants wouldnt attack. That explains why some bases crank that sad/epic music sometimes. A sympatic respect to victems of the zone kinda thing.

I have a really weird and amazing relationship with this song that I don't think I will ever forget. When I first heard this at the beginning of the game I was like "damn, that's a somber song to be playing in such an already oppressive atmosphere that is the zone," and I actually remember wishing I could turn it off, but as I played more and kept coming back from unforgiving adventures in the zone, I started to warm up to this song. I started to associate it with the comfort of knowing that I was safe in Sidorovich's bunker, and when I came back to it for about the last time I would in my playthrough, I had cometely flipped, and wanted to sit there, listening to this song and absorb the atmosphere of this unique and great game.

The first time I played STALKER, hearing "Dirge for the Planet" for the first time in Rostock made me weep because I was so immersed in the game. It felt as if I was really was there and feeling homesick. Beautiful song.

Dirge for the Planet by Firelake, for those who don't know. There is a rough metal version and an instrumental orchestral version floating on KZread as well.

Somehow Sidorovitch finds a way to drain me of all my Rubles whenever I buy stuff from him.

I remember raiding Freedom's base and hearing this play on the radio in the background. The sirens blaring, this song playing loudly, but only to hear after all the gunshots.

I completed Shadow of Chernobyl dozens of times, Call of Pripyat 20+ times and Clear Sky only once. I would like to return back in the time when I played Shadow of Chernobyl for the very first time!
