The conical bearing shields on the reel shaft of your Scott Bonnar cylinder mower plays an important role in maintaining the reel in the correct position. Shields should fit well on the shaft and be located hard up against the bearing to avoid issues.
In today's video we take a look at how Shane Kosteszyn from Moteck Machining and Cylinder Mowers manufacturers his stainless steel bearing shields. These parts are laser cut and then pressed to the canonical shape using a custom die Shane built for the purpose. The shaft hole is then reamed for a tight fit on the shaft.
