    STACCATO! Duty reliability in a 2011 package. Close to 400 police departments, including large cities, and federal agencies going with Staccato is good enough for me. If I want a competition range gun then Triarc. IF MY LIFE IS ONE THE LINE…STACCATO!

    Nice tools for shooting sports and high speed professionals. Nice toys for all others. My Smith and Wesson M&P 2.0 compact and Gen 5 Glock 19 are more than adequate for my purposes. It's awesome that two Texas based gun manufacturers are producing such sought after, high end firearms. Thanks for comparing them.

    Very nice pistols. I always thought the Staccato was expensive 😳 can get to a 4K+ pistol really quick. Before optic and flashlight. I’m definitely jealous of people who can afford that. Thanks for making this video and sharing that with someone who’ll probably never seen one of those. I’ve seen Staccato’s but never a Triarc in person. Both are awesome wish list pistols

    I have a Staccato P and XC. I love them both but they are two different animals. I shot a Triarc 11 and it was different to me as i shoot Staccatos all the time. The Triarc was really fast getting back to battery but with me not being use to it, it felt choppy to me. But, it is still a great and accurate firearm. So at this point its more Ford or Chevy. They both are great but it is more what the shooter themselves like.

    Staccato for me. Over the 14-18 month wait for Triarc. What parts do Triarc really make in house if any? Triarc is more of a final fit and paint shop place. It’s more like a 2K dollar price difference with all the options for the Tri-11 over the P.

    @texasgunexperience5096

    Жыл бұрын

    Both triggers measured the exact same. If the guns were on even playing field (no compensators etc) I would most likely go with the Triarc for competition over the P model Staccato. The only justification for this answer is that the cyclic rate of the Triarc slide feels quicker, with how it is sprung. The truth is, neither of these are meant as competition guns, and if you are going to spend $3-4k on a handgun, there are plenty of " race gun" options. The Staccato XL and XC are absolute cheater guns and worth a look.

  • @texasgunexperience5096

    @texasgunexperience5096

    2 жыл бұрын

    it should, I used the same safariland holster for all of the 2011 videos. - The Triarc has more of a squared off cut along the topside of the slide, while the Staccato P is more rounded and a hair higher. All this means is that there is a bit more clearance needed for the P. The retention on holster is typically around the trigger guard or light if applicable.

    Howdy Fellow Texican. I live just up the road from Staccato and Dawson Precision. The TriArc strikes me as deciding to become a Gucci brand selling to people who want to seem Kool and like like the movies they watch. Their vids are full of female eye candy gushing over the owner of the company. Seems other than a few, none know or really care about quality or guns in general. Just wanting to be in the in crowd. Kinda turns me off on the brand. The owner on the range is a show boat. I don't doubt the lack of true quality at all. Seems he is after a fan base more than being serious about his craft. Well, other than the bucks that is. Typical Holly Wood all the way is the impression I get. KnifeMaker

    Bottom line though is that triarc and staccato are both what we would call entry level 2011's right? They're both production guns at the end of the day with minor fitting associated with the process. Both use polymer grip modules instead of the better metal modules (that flex bs has been disproved by the competitive shooting crowd years ago and literally everyone shoots metal grip modules now). Both guns have a reputation of both loosening up and developing maintenance issues at a much earlier round count than semicustom or custom guns. Triarc in particular has had a particularly bad rep of late both in their lead times and their qc. Triarc offers a few more options and uses some slightly more premium parts, but at their pricepoint you're almost at custom gun territory, where you get a LOT more performance and a MUCH nicer gun. I will say that if you know how to tune your own mags, buying staccato or triarc (triarc especially) mags is a great bargain. Even buying a triarc mag and swapping out the spring and baseplate is cheaper than just buying a tuned mag or an mbx. Staccato is like $10 more so still a bargain.

    @@ronmucci3331 How bout... I've owned 3 (sti) staccato's in the past (I've moved beyond the point where I'm interested in anything they make other than mags) and I currently own an infinity custom designed limited gun, 2 atlases (athena and nemesis), a guncrafter x2 commander and a nighthawk trs comp. I know the grip flex shit is bs because I've literally shot and owned all these guns at one point or another and every single polymer grip module gun underperformed compared to metal gripped guns. I've owned an edge, a dvc omni, and the gen 1 staccato P. None of them perform even to my harshest shooting metal gripped 2011 (the guncrafter). Not even the comped omni shoots as well as a non comped metal gripped gun. Metal grips are a HUGE deal in modern limited guns. No maker is using poly on performance guns anymore. Only people making "tactical" guns, as staccato has shifted to, can still get away with it because, lets be honest, tactical shooters don't really care what their split times are. And they rarely care to know the physics behind how guns work other than they go bang when you pull the trigger and you death grip the shit out of them to control recoil... oh... and I forgot...GrOssMot0rSki115. If you happen to be one of those guys.. lemme spell it out to you: recoil is a function or reciprocating mass vs non reciprocating mass. The less reciprocating mass the better. The MORE nonreciprocating mass the better. The GRIP is non reciprocating and metal weights a LOT more than plastic. No amount of "flex" makes up for the weight difference. It's massive. STI/staccato doesn't have polymer grips because it helps with recoil, they have polymer grips because it's super cheap. Their grips are like $50-100. Metal grips are around $600-800. Before fitting and whatever finish you want. As to staccatos loosening up with higher round count, it's widely known that staccato's are production guns made with very minimal hand fitting involved to get the cost down. Their own marketing team touts this as cost savings and shorter lead time for the customer. Well, all that hand fitting that they don't do on a staccato... that's when someone in a custom shop will, under magnification, break all the little imperfections and machine burrs and marks so that there's a perfect fit. That way, as your gun cycles, everything wears evenly. On a non fit gun, like staccato, uneven parts or burrs will wear first, aka break in. Well guess what, those uneven parts and burs were what was making your gun tight, and once they wear in, your gun loosens up. This isn't a phenomenon isolated to staccato. EVERY production 1911 does this. Fire 50k rounds through a sig scorpion and that shit is a lot looser than it was at 2k down the pipe. That's the way production guns work. For extreme examples of this super tight when new.. wtf happened at 50k phenomenon... see "Kimber". In any case, loosening up on slide to frame isn't really the big issue. Loosening up of barrel lockup is a bigger issue, and the biggest issue is that without the hand fitting, guns tend to wear in an unpredictable fashion, which often leads to shorter lifespans for both common wear parts and, frankly, even parts that shouldn't be wearing out. Again, not a problem unique to staccato. It's ALL production guns. Now, a LOT of production guns, ie: every striker fired gun out there, aleviate this problem by just starting out with a good deal of slop in the fit tolerances. Staccatos don't do this, because it would be unacceptable in their price range. So yes, when you buy your staccato, it starts off quite good and fairly accurate, but give it 50-100k rounds and it's not the same gun you bought a year ago. Also, like kimber, you get some nice mim parts with your staccato, unless they changed that when they ditched their old name, which is unlikely. Common practice when buying an STI used to be you buy the gun, you buy an extreme engineering fire control group, an SV trigger bow+shoe, a dawson guide rod +firing pin, and the actually correct weight recoil spring, and you take them to a competent gunsmith (or you know how to fit stuff). You or your gunsmith then throw out all the STI parts except the frame, barrel, and slide, and you fit the new parts, pin the grip safety, and do an acceptable trigger job, and then you send your shitty sti grip module to extreme shooters for grip work. That was before we all moved to metal grips btw. But that's another story. STI/Staccato is not some sort of lambo luxury gun. It's literally the bottom of the barrel bare minimum quality 2011 that I'd actually tell someone to consider. It's the PSA of 2011's. They mass produce the product and get people into the platform at a reasonable cost. Which is a great thing. We need a company that will do that. But they're not a custom shop and you're kidding yourself if you expect custom/semicustom performance out of one of their guns. PS: you're about a month late on this comment aren't you? this was forever ago.
