Exellent advice for not being adverse to using spiritual reading as a lauch pad for mental prayer, no matter how long you've been at it. As a weak human attempting to grow in mental prayer for the last 24 years, I have found this to be very true, Sometimes, spiritual reading may not be necessary, but we probably shouldn't assume that to be the case always.
