Many of the actors in The Breakfast Club were known as the Brat Pack. They were just basically the people who starred together in some of the most famous teen movies in the 80's. Emilio Estevez, Judd Nelson, Molly Ringwald, Ally Sheedy, Rob Lowe, Andrew McCarthy, Anthony Michael Hall and Demi Moore were known as members of The Brat Pack.

Boomers had "The Big Chill", We had "The Breakfast Club" And "St. Elmo's Fire". Same-same.

I'm only 13 and my mom showed me The Outsiders, The Breakfast Club, and Some Kind of Wonderful. She then showed me this movie and I fell in love with all of these movies!!!!! I also fell DEEPLY in love with Rob Lowe and Judd Nelson!!!!!!! They are so hot!!!!! I always tell my parents that I wish I lived back in the 80's . Eerybody who did live in the 80's is ssoooooo lucky!!!!!!;))

When I was growing up, I used to love watching the critics talk about movies, like Siskel & Ebert. It is still interesting but now I see them as more being just opinionated rather than an authority as to what is a good or bad movie. I mean, they often disagreed with each other, so that tells you either can be wrong. For some movies, they just couldn't comprehend or understand it. I still love listening to them, and they make for good conversation.

Makes me sad when I think about childhood in the eighties. Everyone seemed so much happier and outgoing. People were not lookibg for a reason to be offended, people had actual human interaction, and seemed to generally enjoy life so much more. This was the last truely stress free decade.

I was only 5 when this was released but I love it. All the central actors are now in their 50's! A stark reminder that we all get older and edge toward a grave, regardless of whether you have £5 million in the bank or just £5.

This film showed how much more sociable people were back then. No internet, Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram. People talking and truly getting to know each other. More of a wholesome time of being people not drones. No electronic distractions or 24 hour media dictating our worlds. The 80's were the last time of true social connection before the dawn of social media. Good movie, St. Elmo's Fire, classic!

The chemistry in this trailer is so much better than all the shows on Netflix. I'm 34 and ashamed to admit that I've yet to watch this movie (will later tomorrow) but the trailer is oozing with chemistry.

When this movie came out in the mid-80's I was 12 yrs old or so. It made little sense to me then. Then I re-watched it as a then 23 year old graduating college in a semester and it taught me the harsh lesson that real life is harsh. I have found now that what the characters experienced as twenty somethings just out of school, falling in love, getting their first "real" jobs and living on their own is something I struggled with--friends can go their separate ways and though you may keep in touch it is not the same as it was in the college days.

So glad i had such a cool mom show me all these older movies, sleepless in seattle, serendipity, breakfast club, pretty in pink, etc awesomeeee

St Elmo's Fire is the kind of movie you can't forget. Because it deals with a an unique and precious period haunted by kind and warm emotions. Suddenly appears the characters on screen and you feel like you already know them for some mysterious reasons. That's the real magic of St Elmo's Fire... Okay Judd Nelson, Emilio Estevez and Ally Sheedy were all extracted from the incredible Breakfast Club but they still sound like our old friends. Deep inside, we desperatly want to be with them, celebrating, loving and struggling for a better existence in the eighties. Breakfast Club left us joyful, moved but in the meantime sad because forever ignorant of what will be the next Mondays of Claire, Andrew, Brian, John and Allison and St Elmo's Fire provides the same kind of mixed emotions between joy and sadness... 80's were magic but not everlasting. And as Arcadia sang it : Goodbye is Forever and Ever and Ever and Ever... Maybe in an other space and time we will return to Shermer School or St Elmo's Bar :')

I couldn't relate to it at the time because I was only 16 when it came out. However, several years later when I was almost out of college, I could relate to it. The only thing is that it was unrealistic in many aspects. No one gets an apartment like Ally Sheedy & Judd Nelson had in this movie (unless mommy and daddy pay for it!). And they were far too young to worry about getting up in the morning to get to work. I never worried about stuff like that in my early 20s. Never even worried about it in my late 30s. Makes me think some middle-aged person wrote it because they were behaving more like middle aged folks than early 20-somethings fresh out of college. I mean, c'mon! LOL But, in my opinion, it really was a great movie.

@@rosselliswilkinson It did feel fake. Never finished the movie so I though it was stupid. Friend set felt the same way and told me to watch the whole thing...well, it got a little better, started to be fake again, but the ending made it kind of real life

They aired this movie last night on the Vh1 classic channel.. I've only seen half of it once, so I actually got the chance to watch the whole movie last night though. :) I wish I can go back and time and live in this era. So fun! I was born in 89, but still..LOL

I’m proud to say I was made in the 80’s! Knowing that gives me peace about ageing!

I remember not liking this movie when it came out. I was in my last year of college like the actors portrayed in the movie. Over time, I have come to appreciate it much more. I realize now that my initial dislike of the movie stemmed from my own personal insecurities as it related to the difficulties I had in my social life. The brat pack made it look so easy. And yet - I knew many people at the time that were just like them. I guess thats why it strikes a chord. I definitely had my struggles back in 1985 - but if I could go back even for a day I would do it in a heartbeat. Funny how that works..

I’m actually fascinated by this movie even though I can’t stand it. At the time I was about 8 years older than the characters in it and I thought they were the kind of people I would avoid at all costs. And by the way none of them had any sense of style or taste in fashion, music, or even day to day living. The inevitable result I’m sure of having doofus fathers and snit mothers - still going on today of course.

This film had me realize how beautiful Georgetown is.

This came out just a few days before I was born! Back to the Future actually did hit theaters on the same day I was born! lol 85 was a good year. ;)

I can't believe how badly this movie was reviewed, i adored it! Wanted to be Jules, copied her wardrobe, wanted her Jeep, wanted to live in Alec's cool loft... LOVE this movie still. Such a great time to grow up with this flick and of course everything John Hughes even touched!! :)

I did not like this movie at first, but this is a type of movie that just grows on you, and now I love it.

I'm 17 and I watched St. Elmo's Fire today and loved it! Thought it would be awesome since I love the breakfast club, it's one of my favourite movies. This shows that some 27 years later, new generations of teens can still enjoy 80s films. They sure don't make movies like this anymore!

I was born in 1978. The 80s are my only (lost) homeland.

movies of the 80's are just soo great.. secret admirer and girl just wanna hav fun movie are unforgetable also. just like this one.

About four years ago :) I have an older brother and he introduced me to TBC when I was about 14. But I grew up listening to saturday night jukebox which plays all the best 80s hits, so I've always loved the 80s.

We had it all. But we squandered it, we let it all slip away, thinking it was always going to be like this.

Re-enacting this movie in our high school play, I'm Kirby and watching this movie after practicing so much is so odd because I recognize all the stuff from our play (along with the stuff we changed)!

PLEASE NAME MORE MOVIES LIKE THIS FROM THE 80S!

I've seen The Breakfast Club, Sixteen Candles, and Weird Science so many times, but I have never seen St. Elmo's Fire. I'm about to rent it on KZread and watch it. Im excited. If it's like the other movies than I'm gonna love it!!!

I was born in the wrong decade. The 80s is where it's at. Better music, better movies, and better style.

I still watch this movie everytime it is on late night cable. I don't know if it is because it's a good movie, or just a chance to see Ally Sheedy in her youth. I was so in love with a girl in the early 80's that looked so much like Ally in this movie. Over 30 years later, and I still am in love with her, yet haven't seen her in 30 years. Damn, what happened to the time, seems like just a little while ago... man, getting old sucks. I'll be watching this movie again when it pops up. Missing the 80's bad!

As someone who came of age; in this era, I thought these movies were ridiculous. I've run into a half dozen or so of my classmates ( I graduated from Penn State in 1987) and I have contact with only one of them through FB. My first year, post graduation was absolute hell on earth for me. I lost my job, the woman I was dating broke up with me, and I couldn't find a job to save my life. I suspect that was the real world for many people my age ( I was twenty-seven, at-the-time. My world wasn't filled with endless parties, one thousand dollar suits or loft apartments. I'm retired now and my life has dramatically improved. I said goodbye to the eighties on New Years Day 1990 and I am a better person for it.

The People who worked on the Movie were as "Famous" as the folks who starred in it. Joel Schumacher got his first big Break working with the Designer Roy Frowick aka "Halston" who was the first Designer to die of AIDS. David Foster was on his way to Superstar Status. It's amazing to know that if you told any DJ not to play any Music that he produced or Diane Warren Wrote the Station would be bankrupt. No Whitney Houston (RIP), Hall & Oates, Chicago (with our without Peter Cetera), Toni Braxton, Nathalie Cole, Celine Dion, Olivia Newton-John, Michael Buble, and countless others.

All we need is a Delorean and back to the 80s.. when we really have a conversation with our friends and not this fucking cellphones 24 hours.

Thank God I grew up in the early 80s in my hometown Washington DC. The culture was cool and the punk rock scene was fantastic. The bayou club and the 9:30 club on F Street.

I grew up in the 80's and I somehow missed this movie..heard the music from it though. I missed alot of bands and don't remember why..I was downloading my favorites recently and came across a ton of bands I didn't remember. I felt so stupid cuz you would think I would of listened to everyone. But,new bands were coming out almost every week so I can see why i missed some.
