This parish exemplifies that the Church did not burn down, she is alive, doing what her Lord directed; showing the love of Jesus to her neighbors and not letting the destruction of a building change the focus of the people's work from the world around them to themselves.

Of course. The congregation is the church, not the building itself, so as long as the congregation is alive it will build another church building.
Yes, Bishop Rachael shared this news last week. It is such an enormous loss. I went to a choral concert there many, many years ago, and I remember thinking it was maybe the most beautiful church I'd ever seen. May God bless this congregation. And somehow, may this beauty be restored to the world. 🙏
My wife's mother was married in St. Anne's in 1938 and my wife and I were baptized and confirmed there and married there under Reverend Canon George Young. This magnificent church was one of the very few and possibly the last North American church constructed in the Byzantine Architectural style. The loss of the paintings created by members of the Canadian Group of Seven, were the only religious works ever created by the group, were priceless and their loss is devastating. The historical records of the church have also been lost.
Thank you, thank you for sharing this. As a someone who attends St Anne's; I'm utterly humbled to hear your description of what we're doing - you made me blush while watching this video. It's been quite the week for us - thank you so very, very much for the support and kind words 💙

I will pray for you and your congregation. Remember, you still have the greater church to assist you..

My neighborhood church stopped doing family night. The "wrong" type of people were showing up to get a free meal. I no longer attend this church. They are not very friendly. Sounds like your church is really friendly. If I lived nearby I would come and get supper. But I live in the US. A long way away. God bless your congregation in this bad time.

"I'm sorry for your loss" always sounds lame, but that is certainly a loss! You can rebuild, and hopefully that will work out well, but the art can't be replaced. I'm like one of those people you will be feeding, so I appreciate your generosity! So many of us have lost homes, so we understand the grief. I hope to hear there is singing there tomorrow! 💐💖🦋

@@auntiebobbolink Thank you. We were blessed by good weather for an outside service in the parking lot, so yes, there was singing! And though I myself, am not directly involved in the Community Meal (I sing in the choir, among other things), I can still say with certainty that you'd always be welcome at our doors. 💙
And the gates of Hell SHALL NOT prevail! Improvise, adapt, and overcome!
Prayers and love to all at St Anne's. Blessed are those who share what they have with others. ❤
It must be devastating for the congregation. May they be uplifted by angels to get past their loss. Together they will heal.
Prayers for the Parish Family!
This is the kind of loss that leaves people stunned. Too large to contemplate. Its reminding me of the church in an Indian village in New Mexico. It was built in 1699 with beautiful native paintings on the walls. Irreplaceable. Badly damaged by a bad rainstorm. The people dont have the money for the repairs, yet on their Feast Day (St. Joseph) they welcome and feed visitors like me. Truly beautiful spirit! 💖💝 for St Joseph's in Laguna!
Dedicated and blessed Terrible news. God said Where two or more are gathered in my Name I am there aa well Amen
It is so wonderful that you blessed us with the knowledge of St. Anne's love for their community. In the world's current state, this congregation shines like a beacon for the rest of us.
The Church is more than the building, it is the gathering together of the people to worship God and His Son!
The Church is more than just the building. It is the people. St. Anne's still stands, even though the building is devastated. That is shown in the congregation gathering in the church hall (without power) and committing to providing a meal as usual, even though the circumstances are anything but usual.
So sad to lose such a beautiful building and art.
We can give thanks that they are still letting the Holy Spirit work through them.

Isn't that amazing!
This is both heartbreaking and heartwarming at the same time. Thank you for sharing this story.
Sending loving and peace-filled thoughts to everyone.
This is just mind-boggling..What a tremendous loss. Sending special prayers ..🙏✝️🌹
WOW this was devastating, Prayers for the congregation and the Church 🙏..It is a awful thing to loose Art work and fine craftsmanship..Seeing this I think about When Norte Dame in France burned down and seeing the fire such a tragedy, Norte Dame did re build better then ever and they built the roof the same craftsmanship as the original.. Prayers and Hope that this wonderful and historic Anglican Church can rebuild like Norte Dame.. Thank you Rev Ed for sharing this God Bless 🕊️ Nimultis
It's nice to hear someone speak and believe them. What you said about that church and what they do for people is wonderful. It's unfortunate it caught fire, it looked like a beautiful church, I will contribute what I can and it costs nothing to pray which I will be more than happy to do. God bless and may everything work out.
I would always be told by my Great Grandmother(while she was alive) that the church is the congregation and not the building where they meet. This is an important anecdote for me because the road that we live on is called Meeting House Branch. It got it's name because my Great Grandmother's house was the house that the road was named after. When the area was just starting to become a township(there was not even a true road back then, it was a creek bed that was traveled as a road) there were no churches within a reasonable distance for the people in that area to attend. Two of my great uncles while young and still living at home were ministers. Everyone would meet and have church at my great grandmother's house. Later a true road(gravel/dirt road at that time) was made and it was named Meeting House Branch as a tribute to my great grand parents home.

My point is that as long as the congregation lives, so does the church.
I am someone who attended St. Anne's and I have been lost since the fire. I came to St. Anne's because I was lost and desperate. I am still lost, and still trying to hold myself together, but now I can't even talk to the priest there, because he is dealing with this emergency. What do I do when what you hoped might help me now needs help desperately?

What an amazing question??? Says so much about you. I'd say you begin to see that CHURCH is a two way relationship - they are there for you and you are there for them. God bless you. If I can ever help, let me know
Kwe, mahalo, ¡Hola! , and hello
We had a sister church in Russia in the Urals. They are Baptists we are Lutheran. The town was built by exiled ethnic Germans. They always had a communal meal. When the church was founded after World War Two all the original members were arrested.

I love learning about European church’s. One of my favourite things to learn about.
Amen! ❤
Amen 👍👍👍👍👍
A sad loss to the community to lose such a beautiful building, but if God remains the churches focus He will use the opportunity to build back bigger and better. 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Wow. This is first I’m hearing about this. What a shame. Sorry to see this. Praying for everyone affected by this tragedy.
Praying for all affected by this fire.
What a congregation - the sure part of the church, not the part that's outside - funny enough, I've often thought, when a church burns down, it always does it like this - and showing up the rebuilding of the heart of the congregation in the centre of the community ....
🎵 The Church is not a building, Where people come to pray. It's not made out of sticks or stone, It's not made out of clay. 🎵 We are the church (clap clap) The body of our Lord (clap clap) We are all God's children, And I forget the last line, oh well 🤷
💚 I am so sorry to hear of the tradgic loss of such a beautiful church⛪️ & its artwork😢. I will be praying 🙏 that by some miracle, funds will be found to rebuild St Anne's in the not too far future. ~ 06/16/24~ PS, Happy Father's Day to my Church W/O Walls Family💙🎉.
☹️💜
I’ve been to that Church many times. So sad. It was such a beautiful church.
Sad to see the building, but I love their spirit. God has blessed them with adversity and they have answered the call.
I will be praying for the congregation and it's leaders. What a terrible thing this is.
WHOA DUDE!!!!
Boy if that aint a sign!! Yikes!
That's very sad.
Devastating
How sad.
