    I live in the states. I haven't seen this product at the auto parts store. I have been using CRC White Lithium Grease (spray) on my moving parts. I hope that is ok. Thanks for taking the time to do these videos. Since we all got more spare time on our hands. Going over good maintenance practices is a good use of our time.

    GReat stuff also, that CRC white I used for years until I just finally bought a tub of white for my gears and accessible items. The spray is great for hard to reach items, allthough it won't seep into your driveshafts or anything, it's still going to help a ton. I'd use some light oil first to get in the joint, and then 'seal' it in with the white spray.

    Toeing out the front makes it drive more stable in a straight line as well. That's why on our race buggies and trucks we use a bit of toe-in on the rear and a bit of toe-out on the front. It's always fun to watch new guys set up a race car with zero toe settings and wonder why it's so twitchy and squirrely. lol I use COWRC Moo Slick for lube and to help it shed dirt and water as well, to keep it a touch cleaner and have a bit less wear. I don't think that's food safe stuff, though. Haha! My grandpa always had bottles of 3 in 1 laying around everywhere. You guys will be at ECSC this year, right? Hopefully, I'll get to see y'all then. I'm getting Canadian withdraws, eh! HooOoNnNNNkKKKKK!!!!

    Now THAT'S something I've practiced for a long time!! Ackerman I mean. Some ask why... You illustrated how the inner wheel on a Turn, will make a sharper curve than the outer. No Ackerman, or no Toe-Out on turns, will cause serious Tire scrubbing - even on our slow Crawlers!! I never thought of Toe-Out for straight running. It makes perfect sense! I'm going to try it. ..... And "3 In 1" Oil should be 10,000 in 1!!! It's got more than that many uses. 😉 Stay SAFE Bro! 😷 Carmine ✈🚂🚙

    Ive never been without 3in1, if you only have 1 oilcan in your house it should be 3in1 lol. I do a lot of mountain biking and 5 years ago started using Squirt Chain Lube, its a milky wax lube in a dropper bottle and dries to a soft wax, couple of years ago tried it on my crawlers driveshafts and CVs, its great stuff and stays pretty much clean even in sand and doesn't get flung off, wax is the way to go....

    Thanks for the reply. Lots of evidence out there that corrosion x works great for protecting receivers and servos. Unfortunately the two products use different units to describe their dielectric properties. Corrosion X: 37kV dielectric strength. Fluid film: specific conductivity of 10-9 ohms/cm @ 1 mHz. I've been unable to find enough info online to allow me to convert one to the other though. Thanks again.

    I do not like to spray lube in my moving parts. The reason is that lube attracts dirt which will cause a lot of wear to my moving parts. Can you talk about this? Am I wrong about this?

  • @GCMRacing1

    @GCMRacing1

    4 жыл бұрын

    That's perfectly OK. I have seen CVD axle shafts completely seize solid from dry running and metal galling, then it locks, and you break it off the driveline. Dry wear is going to happen with more damage and drag on the truck than any wet dirt, or clean lube (even if it does get dirty), so .. some sort of lube is going to be required on any metal-to-metal contact parts in rotation.

    IMO lube is actually a bad thing as its attracting and holding on to dirt and debris which turns into an abrasive concoction. With U joints, I prefer to leave them dry (also SSD doesn't instruct that these get lubed at all). CVD joints on the other hand do need some grease or lube which is why they typically come with grease. I also hate WD40 with a passion, I really wish it wasn't a household name for lube... its a solvent dammit!

  • @GCMRacing1

    @GCMRacing1

    4 жыл бұрын

    It is TRUE that some sticky thing on your driveshaft is likely to attract dirt, yes. If it's really bad certainly a cleaning is in order, but I also advocate for REGULAR application, in an effort to keep the dirt off and the lube on. Recommended or not, I know too much about metallurgy to allow an all-steel joint to run in a dry condition...
