I think this is one you'll regret selling down the line kap but someone will be getting a nice bike that's for sure

Big Black is tuned to perfection. Hate to see it go but the Gasgas 700 should be a kick ass bike as well.

What a beauty of a Kawi !!! I worked at the local Kawasaki bike shop from the age of 19 to 24 and one of the perks of the job was you got to rip to launch the demo bikes I had a lot of seat time on a KLR and I can honestly say that I loved to ride that bike and was my first pic every time 🫡

Big Black is part of the reason I ended up buying a KLR650! I ended up buying a 2022 KLR650 Adventure. I am running the Leo Vince pipe with no issues too.

Yes, this is a magnificent KLR! I just got a 22 gen3. (2k miles) I got caught in the rain the other day and didn't want to bother putting on my rain gear that I keep in the trunk (along with my collapsible fishing rod) It was pouring! I was pretty impressed that the wider fairing kept me pretty dry and only got wet at my shins. The bike takes me back to my roots of riding. I love it! Eric in NC

I watched that video of the guy trying to brake the klr. Once he broke the engine case he managed to get it running again temporarily with a old beer can that he found and some jb weld. Unbelievable machine.

That's one of my dream bikes. I was looking so hard for a mid 2000's KLR650 to rebuild over winter and I couldn't find one I could afford.

Was it that cyan colour that looked like the colour of a my little pony Lyra I think. Had a work colleague had one brand new in 1998. I bought a honda XR250R brand new the same year. The xr was a lot lighter. But the klr250 was probably a good bike.

for taking the es 700 on a trip, try a seat concepts seat. the factory seat is like sitting on a 2x4

Where did you get the stock handguards?! Factory paint? I thought you said this was originally red? Honestly, despite the upgrades, I doubt you'll get paid the value this bike will give you. Might as well give it to your kid.

my gen 1 is pushing 50k miles and starting to show its age. Might be time to throw a bid out there

I like this body style over the newer Klrs...I'm relatively new to bikes and I'm really into dual sports .BUT ..is Kawasaki known for being the lesser of the big manufacturers including the Japan 4 and also the ktm/ husky...just noticing the frames on the new klx 300 comparef to the Honda complete dual spot line up..the newer model Klrs just look so builky and doesn't have the " mean looking cool factor" that even the Drz 400.. This one that Mr Kaplan Sr. Had a body style that reminds me more of a dr650.... Im currently in the market for my very FIRST STREET LEGAL bike EVER and haven't ridden since I was a kid... Im. 6'2 240 and no bodybuilder but not sloppy at all... I had my heart for years sety on a dr650 but the suspension seems to just sag and I Kno that could be fixed... Noe I Kno I'm gonna be called a LUNATIC BUT...hear me out...would ktm 500 dual sport or it's husky country part along with the Honda 450rl, would those bikes , given that I handle the bike with respect and exhibit throttle control....would I be out of my mind ztartimg my dual sport journey on anything over 400cc? I've heard that I should start out on something smaller...but man...I have NEVER SEEN a supermoyo or dual sport in my area. Everyone rides the crotch rockets but damn...I LOVE the way the dual sports look with beefy dual sport tires bc it gives it that " mad max" mean look... My brother who is financially in a better spot is looking at a 701.. I just recently found out that a guy I work with has a 2002 xr 600?? And he said it's known as the last of those old s hool Honda Baja winners... I apologize for the long winded post .I deep down I think a drz400 might be just the sweet spot bike for me..maybe as I gradually advance in skill I can maybe get a ktm or gasgas.. Man those husky 501s look bad ass...I have never ridden a 450 dirt bike so...I like the idea of hoping on the road and my bro and I just go trail riding... There are alot of Drz 400 and a few ktm 525s for sale in my area..or an hour or so away in horry county / Myrtle Beach area Actually Mr Kaplan actually did a review of a Mx track which is literally less than 2 miles from my house at the South of the Border motocross track which I thought was cool...

just a big heavy tall underpowered bike stock but reliable enough to ride across the country if you can sit on that concrete seat long enough

Beautiful bike. Rather have a klr or klx then my Dr 650, the oem suspension truly sucks. Spend $$ just to have decent suspension.

The Dakar vids are very cool. Big fan of Dakar here so some behind the scenes videos are much appreciated.

KLRs are meant to do hard miles offroad and whatnot. I don't really understand why you would want to own one just to look at how pretty it is? what is the point of all the upgrades if it just sits in a garage?

If everything goes away in the end, you will still have it, not worth selling it for the 7or8? grand if it was built putting love sweat and tears over years to get it right. It's stealth and quiet, and probably easier to work on than newer bikes that need a laptop.As much as I'd like to burn all bridges down like sick of it all song, probably should keep a few open. What other bike can be put into stalk mode, and not be linked to the shop, and fixed on side of the road when a stupid fuel injection setup doesn't break, clog, or depends on a dead battery to bump start. It's already got a chain saw/gun rack, and can carry a ninja passenger comfortabley for quick work.Don't sell your fishing rod/tools. Can be used to carry a real high end camera and operater on back, all maintenance can be tax break possibly, and pay for itself over 3 years instead of 15, if you already didn't own the title.
