Squirrel Hunt & Cook with VINTAGE RIFLE at Bush Camp
Спорт
After making a bushcraft hunting camp in the woods, we are waking up to go squirrel hunting using my vintage lever action .22 rifle. We have built up a nice camp fire to clean and cook our squirrel at our backwoods bush camp.

Hearing LFG's story about hunting as a kid and how his dad told him you should eat everything you kill, that just further proves that LFG is truly awesome.

There needs to be more kids boys and girls in this sport.well i call it sport but my feelings is life management. There needs to be wildlife strategy and survivalists classes in school everyday. Were kids can learn all this and become pro hunters or game wardens.or just someone works at hard job and loves come learn and feed his family.

@@jessiecasteel2902 you're right on all fronts. Definitely need our next generation to learn how to manage the future of wildlife. Also, it's a sport and as well as life. No other sport like hunting, fishing, outdoor living is more educational as it is fun.

It's how legends are made! A good outdoorsman respects the game but uses every bit of nature he can properly.
I'm digging these vids. Keep them coming.

Hell yeah
What me and my family do when we eat squirrel, we fry the legs and cook them in gravy. We take the entire skinned head and deep fry it. You then take the prong of a fork and stick it through both eye sockets and pop off the cranium and eat the brain. It tastes and has the consistency of refried beans. The Dura Matter holds everything together so it pops out like a little grape. If you can muster up the courage, it is the best part of the squirrel hands down. You can also eat the tongue but it is tough like a chicken gizzard. Not only is it healthy, it's also a great way to maximize the harvest from an animal with so little parts.
I love the raw trial and error. It's entertaining and educational all at the same time.
Pro tip: squirrels toughness usually depends on the squirrels age. Even young fox squirrel are tender. Also the best part if the squirrel is the back is the best part (“dad’s piece” in my household lol) with the inner and outer loins!
The best memories I have with my dad are having squirrel for breakfast with a little gravy rice
Love this easy talking Texan and his family, puttin on no airs, just layin it down in a good ole friendly way. No crazyness, no chatter.
Legs of a squirrel. Arms of a human.😂 Love this video. Country boy can survive! Nice shot by the way.
I'm loving the bushcraft videos. I think they are my favorite
Honest guy, useful tips, peaceful, calming, great editing, and anything else you could ask from a video.

Definitely Red Dead vibes on the intro and camp shot.
Always cleaned squirrels and rabbits the same way. Make a cut in the back, pull it like you did, then cut off the feet, tail and head when the skin got to the end. Never did anything around the feet before pulling the skin.
Nothing like sitting around or cooking on a good wood fire. Stay blessed!
So lucky to have the freedom to have the chance to live like that Loving the vids from Little old IRELAND 🇮🇪🇮🇪👍👍👍👍
When I was a teenager and early 20's, me and my friend's would get a few squirrel's and we would be camping so we had seasoning and cut up an onion, then wrap it up in tin foil, and throw it in the 🚒 fire! Works awesome 👍! Love the videos.
My pap pa gave me the same type of gun when I turned 10 and it was my first rifle, there wasn’t a wild critter one safe when I was a younger boy. Itll always be my favorite gun!
Hehehe old vintage pew pew love what y’all do. I was born in 19 hundred and 66. Love watching your young family grow kudos.
You are killing it with the Bush Camp videos
That reminds me of as a youngster visiting my grandparents out on their ranch fishing and hunting deer squirrel's dove quail. That was the best of times ‼️ Keep it up LFG‼️✌️🤘👍🙏

That's awesome! My dad gave me and my brother both that exact same rifle when we were 12. Matching pair I still have mine and my boys love shooting it too. Great video LFG!
Vintage Classics, outdoor greatness.. 👍🏼!! Digging the content Sir Rackley. Cheers Brother from California 😎🤙🏼
I have the same Ithaca, my first firearm!
Would love to see a calab with Joe Robinet or the Wooded Beardsman! That would definitely boost your channel!
First squirrel taken when I was 6 with a single shot 410..Dad set me at the base of the tree and told me be like the tree and don't move. First of many animals that have blessed the dinner table 36 yrs later..
The confidence in himself, that rifle, and his marksminship is awesome to watch.
Really liked your commentary. Kept me tuned into your sweet adventure. Looking forward to your next.
Great little rifle I have the same one I just handed down to my oldest nephew
Another awesome video!! These are some of the best...
Squirrels okay. But I absolutely love it when I cook it in the dutch oven cast iron. It's amazing like a turkey dinner!!
Love this video. Great vibes and fun to watch. God bless man!!
I run an auction company and we have sold a few of those Ithica single-shot .22s. They bring good money, more than the new Rugar 10-22. Cool little rifles.

Nice content brother :) Keep it up man! The whole package here, bushcraft / hunting / fishing and more. Good stuff!
As a custom knife maker. Made me smile when you said you take olive oil with you for your high carbon blades. Mineral oil works good as well

Agreed, food type oils can go rancid on steel blades. I personally use camellia seed oil on my knives (recommended by a Japanese knife maker)
Lovely vintage rifle.. love squirrel it's one of my top game meats, far better than anything at the supermarket.
BIG fan of this kind of video brother, looks like you're enjoying it too 👍
I really enjoyed this. I forgot about this rifle. A memory from childhood. A friend or cousin had one of these Ithaca rifles. Squirrel is amazing. We use to fry up with biscuits and gravy just like cottontail. Let it simmer after crisping it. Just like you would pan fry a Chicken. Or we would stew it with one or two cream soups with onion, carrots and potatoes. Thanks for these. God bless all here.
Thanks for bringing back some childhood memories. 👏💪👍
Absolutely LOVE it! Please continue these videos!!! It’s not often that I actually like or comment on a video, but this is definitely worth it!
Most epic opening minute of video in KZread history right there
Another video full of outdoor greatness from LFG
This is so relaxing, love the longer vids.
Can’t tell you how much meat I have eaten harvested by my dads Ithaca featherlight 12 gauge. Love it! Awesome vids man
loving the videos can say I had my killing spree my grandfather made me cook raccoon as well and it wasn't good.
I love this type of stuff!! Hey, from my parts we call squirrel, "chicken of the trees" 🤣🤣🤣.

Love the video, awesome content LFG. Hope you get to a million soon!
my son had one of those 22's, we had a great time with it. Thanks for sharing.
This is the content ive been waiting for. this video and the setup video are great.
I remember someone telling me olive oil was good for your blades as well! Then I remembered it was you doing it on an axe head ( I think) when you went camping with your Dad and someone else. Such a wholesome, humble dude. Glad to see you living the life you want to live!
This series has been great! Keep it up man
I like the hunting content! Keep it coming.
I've been listening to a bunch of the Meateater podcast and it makes me want to hunt everything under the sun, including squirrels.

ithica ss 22 was my first rifle as well. I have two more that i have purchased thru the years for both my boys. Love that gun and its always been true for me. Loved the video and love the camp life vids. Thanks LFG.
Love the videos🍻
It is awesome to see someone who enjoys the outdoors share their experiences. The primitive bush camp is so much more authentic than a 40' 5th wheel. Great video from a great KZreadr! Well done...really well done.
Nice camp. Easy in easy out. Enjoy every second.
I have that same 22. Love mine. Crazy accurate little thing.
loving this bushcraft theme!
I love this guy !! He so chill 🫶🏽👌

Brother, I am loving this line of video! Bank fishing the river next?
Good thing to carry when “bushcraft” camping and eating off the land I find is broth cubes, or broth paste. Helps a whole bunch with small game. Just boil the snot out of them, throw some rice or other grains in, got a nice meal, decently tender meat. I for one like squirrel a lot, but I rarely ever cook them quick other than buttermilk and frying up. Prefer to stew them, pressure cook them, make them into squirrel and dumplings (a personal favorite). Squirrel meat is delicious! Lots of ways to make it tasty and tender enough.
Lovin the bushcraft vids!
When we have a bunch we double wrap them in aluminum foil and put half a stick of butter with herbs in the cavity and on the grill they go. Enjoy that rifle while your young! There will come a time when you can focus on the sights or focus on the target but not both at the same time! Lol. I used to use a Rossi pump gallery breakdown, head shots all day long. Now it’s body shots or a 20 gauge! 👍
My dad has an Ithaca shotgun that’s similar to that it’s a lever action break barrel that was his first shotgun as a kid

Good squirrel recipe, skin it like you did, then wrap it in yin foil with a spoon full of butter, covered on lemon pepper and garlic pepper, cook slow over low flame, plus a small butane torch takes care of the little hairs left over
Awesome vid. Loving the bushcraft stuff amd I love squirrel hunting with my young boys. Plus they are tasty little rascals.
Oh the memories. Great video keep em comin
Really enjoying this series!
Just from watching this I want to go out and try it myself now

i cooked a squirrel over the fire in highschool and covered it in wing dust. honestly best thing i ever ate. when you were saying you thought it wouldnt be good i was like "boys in for a treat"
Had my backside peppered a few times!
Like this one, great vid.
I love those old Ithaca 54 rifles. I prefer the 54r, which was the one that started the craze for lever action 22lr rifles. My channel has videos for how to completely tear down and reassemble the 54r. It's a great little rifle that's fun to shoot. For bushcrafting, your single shot is a better option, because there's fewer things to go wrong. Plus, it's just fun to hunt with.
probably the earliest i’ve ever been. keep up the great content LFG❤️❤️
Best thing for hammocks is either an under quilt or like a hybrid bag that goes around from outdoor vitals. Love the video!
Love the bushcraft videos
