Squire Classic Vibe 50's Telecaster Setup...

Музыка

Pretty decent guitar.
I was surprised the frets were .052" tall. They were .048" after I dressed the frets. I had to address 'high' frets before dressing them.
The tuners are 'tight'... no slack.
Sounds good.

Got two of them recently...VERY pleased despite both needed a bit of work...one needed a low fret replaced. Fralin and Lollars, brass saddles...a bit of set up...GEMS. My USA and Japanese equivalents sit around. The Harley Benton TE-52 I got last week was even MORE impressive...especially the PERFECT neck/fret job. The Roswell's are very decent...getting Bootstrap Palo Duro for it. I always disconnect the neck pup from the tone pot....improves clarity and output....

I've only had one harley benton on my bench and the factory Fret install stomps pretty much every mim Fender player/vinteras I've worked on.

I really enjoyed watching this process. Nice presentation. I’ve had a classic vibe tele for a while and it’s needed a real set up. This really helps give me confidence that I can do it myself. However, I’m not sure about the supplies. Is there a package of some kind that has all the basic stuff you need you can recommend? I do have the fret level rocker thing. So I know that some of the frets are high or uneven. But I am unsure about the sanding stuff.

You don't need a lot of stuff. Mostly sand paper. You don't need fret nut files, unless you do Setups alot. I've usually always used Sand paper. I learned how to fold without squeezing it into a pointey edge, keeping it round. A notched straight edge is very handy. Metal polish. Tuner. Screw drivers and Allen's. Very important to use the exact size so not to 'round off' the truss rod Allen. A short radius block would be good for dressing frets. You can sand the edges of the frets until you get a crowning file.

@@McFly-guitars-n-stuff Yeah I don't do setups. It would be one time only. Might be more economical to just pay to have it done. Not sure yet. Thank you!

You can set the action a little high and have no buzzing, or have it low and have a little buzzing. Steel strings on metal frets buzz a little..... How much is 'Acceptable' is up to the player or setup person.

I recently got one of these; really happy with it. I started to notice that it buzzed more than I am used to, but realized yours buzzes as well. I almost returned it but it appears that this is normal. Would you consider yours to have a pretty normal amount of buzzing?

A little string fret buzz never killed anybody lol. Unless it's allot of fret buzz.

My son recently got this exact guitar and I have an appt for a luthier to set it up next week. He's charging me $120. Is that a good flat rate price for a setup?

I charge $140 for a complete including: Eliminating high frets. Dressing frets. Polishing frets. Fret ends Cleaning if needed. Tighten loose hardware. Clean scratchy pots/switch. Cut nut .011" Relief. Action. Intonation. If all that gets done for $120. That's 👍
