Squash analysis - Pendulum swing

Спорт

The pendulum swing is more along the floorboard and goes from high to low to high and not around the body, this keeps the racquet in the hitting line longer making it a very accurate way of hitting.
You drop your wrist to meet the ball not your body making it very energy efficient and great for direction changes with the angle of the racquet head from a slight wrist angle change.
Power and control it has it all.

ver interesting, the disadvatage with pendulum swing is it's limited reach! the lack of extension prohibits you from reaching ball which are farther away especially when the pace of the game is high and Squash has a lot of speed!

Plus the advanced, bent leg is prepared for the backwards push to regain the tee. It seems harder to accelerate backwards from an upright stance.

You can modify the pendulum swing for reaching shots and it provides ample power and great control for hitting target, I will do another video explaining this. It was important to give the initial concept of the pendulum swing first so it is clear.

You are right, this form of pendulum swing takes slightly longer to recover from but it is mostly used when there is time and the accuracy is amazing so the returned shot is often weak.

Will do, I will open myself up to the people who don't like change and get the unfavorable comments but I don't care because I am showing what I believe and I try and prove the outcomes with my examples as well as lesser standard players in coaching. If you any suggestions for videos I can get around to them, I have 2000 videos that I have made over the past 12 years so I should be able to keep you entertained for a while.

Thanks for the video. I'm giving this a try but find my aim bit off. Is it just a matter of practice? Any tips? And is this applicable to backhands? Thank you.

Keep your racquet in front of your body more and not behind and it will help.
