    Something to note is that with the Blichmann variety, you can use naturally produced CO2 to purge your kegs to prep the kegs for packaging, as well as making force-transfers much easier with the included gas post. There's other ways to get that functionality when you have a Unitank or similar fully-featured FV, but those extras really shine when your FV is a little less feature-filled variety such as a Spike Flex+ FV. Great video, keep 'em coming!

    Very good point about being able to collect CO2 . The Blickmann valve definitely brings a lot more. Especially if you are limited on ports, but even if you aren't it's one less thing to sanitize or clean.

    I already have a pin lock air valve from Spike brewing for when I do dry hopping in the glass cylinder I have set up on my SS Brewtech Unitank. I ended up going with the Brewtech spunding valve because the Blichmann wasn’t available at the time and plus it matched the rest of my Brewtech equipment. I love it! Only thing I didn’t like about the Brewtech spunding valve is there was zero instructions of how to use it or break it down to clean it. After watching this video now I know how to break it down 😬 thank you!!

    Purchased the Blichmann valve based on your review, For ME it was two fold. Price aside, I liked the simplicity and directed mess containment, with bonus C02 intake of the Blichmann over the SS BrewTech. Add in price savings and its a no brainer for me... Cheaper, simpler and better product.

    Great video Bradley. I have a question re the gas post on the Blichmann Spunding Valve. I like to use the naturally produced C02 from fermenting to purge my kegs. If I have a quick connect line between this post and my keg, will the discharged C02 purge the keg, or is it only for carbonating?

    In your opinion, which one worked better?

  • @PortlyGentleman

    @PortlyGentleman

    Honestly they both work about the same, The only downfall the Blichmann has Is the pressure gauge. If you have a very active fermentation That results in a blow off of yeast etc. You will find it hard to clean the orifice in the gauge. Not impossible just kind of a pain in the ass.I personally think it's worth the cost savings. Worst case scenario you could always plug the whole where the gauge goes. 🍻

    You're not alone I felt the same way that's why I made the video. I personally think the addition of the gas post makes up for it on the Blichmann.

    My personal opinion is that spring loaded spunding valves just aren't very accurate no matter how bling bling they are. I prefer diaphragm style sounding valves.

    Completely agree - with a poppet-style design you will inevitably have inaccurate closing pressures, which are minimised with a diaphragm spunding valve
