Doug Evans is the co-founder and CEO of The Sprouting Company and the author of the national bestseller "The Sprout Book." Doug began his health journey in 1999 and co-founded Organic Avenue in 2002, a pioneering plant-based retail chain. He later founded Juicero, the first automatic cold-press juicer, aiming to bring fresh produce into the home. Living at Wonder Valley Hot Springs near Joshua Tree, California, Doug authored "The Sprout Book," promoting the benefits of sprouts and advocating for affordable kitchen gardening. His life's mission is to teach people about growing and consuming their own homegrown vegetable sprouts. Doug's primary insights are that sprouts are vegetables, sprouts are vitamins, and sprouts are medicine. They are extremely affordable and easy to grow in days, without soil, sunshine, or fertilizer.

It’s so crazy that many were eating and sprouting Alfalfa Sprouts 45 years ago. And it takes Doug Evan’s, Jed Fahey and others to Bring Back sprouting for our health! Processed foods and media sure has Huge influence over why Americans are sick from eating bad foods. Yay sprouts!!

What a great guest. His message was absolute gold. Seems like a challenging experience for him to get his message heard. The host seemed very distracted by running the show and looking at the chat. I found that this was so distracting for me, that I had to rewind many times to hear the guest properly. Still, overall, this was very worthwhile to listen to this amazing information. Thankyou so much.

🌱🕊💚Doug I bought your book last year seeing it on Amazon. Broccoli, alfalfa, and lentil sprouts are my favorite. I can’t eat lentils but YES for lentil ‘sprouts!’ Delicious!! This video is timely for me; I need to get back to it & try other seeds, as well! Love your the recipes in the book, too.

The myth of the centenarian diet in the blue zones. Why are there so many centenarians in these areas? There may not be any. These are humble regions where a hundred years ago birth certificates were not so common. It is suspected that many of the elderly interviewed declared they were older than they were, either because they did not remember, or to attract more tourism. In Okinawa, Japan, a 2003 study showed that daily meat intake in 1988 was about 90 grams, which was 20% more than Japan's national average at the time, and they consumed 50% more legumes and vegetables. However, in 1998, daily meat reached 100 grams, mostly pork, and legumes and vegetables were at the national average. Very far from the recommendation of eating meat only five times a month. The island of Sardinia, belonging to Italy, presents a case similar to the previous one. A 2015 study found that residents of the mountains where the blue zones are located consumed animal-based foods at a higher rate than the rest of the inhabitants of Sardinia, which included meat, fish and full-fat dairy, along with Yes, large quantities of vegetables. In Nicoya, Costa Rica, their diet bears little resemblance to that of Sardinia or Okinawa. Studies of their population say that they mainly consume chicken, pork, eggs and other sources of animal protein. Ikaria, Greece, is one of the most controversial, and where the data presented about the lifestyle of its inhabitants has surely been falsified the most. For example, in a survey conducted in Ikaria, older people were found to have moderate to high alcohol consumption, and a smoking rate of 99% in men. Ikarians eat cheese and goat and sheep meat almost daily, and it is estimated that half of their calories come from fat, especially olive oil and pork fat. Loma Linda, California. This community is often held up as an example of the benefits of a vegetarian diet. However, not far away, Mormons in Utah, who are also active, avoid alcohol and drugs, but eat meat, have a similar life expectancy.
