Well said!! Awesome pistol!! I just picked up my 4.25” yesterday! Love it! I actually cycled/dry fired the pistol quite a few hundred times and wore a load of the cerakote that gummed up quite a-bit inside the gun. When that was complete I was very impressed with the way this Prodigy shot. This gun was $1250 and worth every penny. Like glass I tell ya!! I was so apprehensive about getting this gun after so many ppl MF’d it on so many vids but I know SA doesn’t put out 💩 I own a few of their pistols and have never had one issue. This one wasn’t different. Maybe I bought the second run? The gun spins like a top. That cerakote gunking up may be the issue for many. Another YT creator suggested it. Great series of videos, appreciate your work.

You’re very welcome and I am glad that you are sharing your journey as well! And there is nothing wrong with The Prodigy line simply put people love to be negative and get attention and it is much easier to do that saying bad things. Secondly, there are a lot of people buying The Prodigy that have never owned a 1911 and they do not understand the platform. Also many people didn’t bother to breaking the gun. They didn’t even bother to read the manual field strip, inspect and clean the gun and most people are running Reloaded ammo which will cause issues, especially in this platform when it is not broken in. I could almost assure you that your gun will continue to get more reliable and better as you shoot it. I have 12,000 rounds on my prodigy and it gets better every time! But please share your journey and let me know how things go with yours! If you read through the comments on my channel, you will see 99% of people are like you and me, and have nothing but good things to say about their prodigy! God bless you be safe and shoot as much as you can!

I like your video I do have to say I am exactly the type of person that orders a gun for concealed carry only most of the 1911’s. I look at you cannot fire them in store aka at the range so you just have to buy it and expect it to be everything that you want or I had The Prodigy purchased for $1580. I sold it for 900 bucks because I had so many problems out of it feeding problems. I switch to staccato because it is 100% reliable 100% of the time I really do like The Prodigy. I even think it looks a little bit better than the staccato P but it is what it is. Springfield needs to get their stuff together. It blows my mind that you were able to get through that mini mags with no problems. I personally do not like modifying my guns in any way, as far as internals go, I don’t want to spend $1500 on a gun that I have to order springs for and adjust constantly. Beautiful gun but once you pull it to use it, you better hope that yours goes off first or goes off at all. How much is your life worth? That’s what I thinking about while I was purchasing the staccato P. I got the staccato P with the x serrations slide cut, and a EO flex mounted on it straight from staccato for $3780 steel frame. And yes, I paid the $275 to fast track it that is in that $3780 price.

Great demonstration of reliability under consistent fire. I was going to purchase the 4.25", even had it on Lay away. I watched your other video also which gave me some positive feed back on the Prodigy amongst all the negative. But in the end, I wound up not purchasing it after all. Not because all of the negative videos, but I have never felt comfortable to carry a single action only 1911 style pistol. I'm more comfortable with a D/A S/A like a Sig P226 or even a Revolver. I was originally persuaded by the Prodigy being a 2011 with the capacity of the " Wonder 9's"!

Thank you for your comment I appreciate it and I completely understand and there is a lot of wisdom in what you said people should carry what they feel comfortable carrying I don’t think they should ever rely entirely on other peoples opinions! I personally feel most comfortable with my 1911s over my striker fired pistols simply because I can Decock it! I have had a couple of polymer striker fired guns that you could Decock but ultimately they weren’t very good guns! my CZ P07 was my go to Appendix carry gun for the DA/SA & hammer fired ! It’s perfect for that role and I love shooting it ! But to be honest with you I’m in Love with Red Dots on My handguns and I’m all about optics ready ! I just wish The Prodigy had a RMR cut in the slide like my others I’m new to the plates and I’m not much of a fan maybe it would be different if Springfield armory would just send out the deck plates so we can use the optics we want!

@@americantrucker9813 I have to say, I'm just the complete opposite when it comes to aim sighting preference. I prefer Iron sights, preferably adjustable target rear sights. I do a lot of accuracy shooting at 25 yards, standing unsupported, slow fire at a 4.5" bullseye target. Not one for speed just precision accuracy. I picked it up from watching how accurate one hand shooting Bullseye marksmen are, even out to 50 yards! I have shot many different guns/calibers from Revolvers to Semi-auto pistols, including 1911's. Successfully producing 2" or less 5 shot groups out to 25 yards, even shooting my 500 magnum in "Double Action". I Don't think I will ever use a red dot, because I feel you tend to lose the "Art of Marksmanship" in precision accuracy.

I absolutely agree that Red Dots spoil Handgun Iron sights accuracy! Well at least for me, I enjoyed the challenge of shooting with iron Sights but after experiencing red dots on my pistols my interest shifted to How fast and accurate I can shoot more of a tactical application and it is fun but when I shoot with iron sights I find I’m slower or less accurate I’m guessing because the shift from target focused to Front sight focused but no matter what I love to shoot as much as possible whenever possible! Some people build race cars and some Drink & Fish I simply love building rifles and shooting anything I can !

I’d guess yours doesn’t have much friction at all probably very smooth let me know how that Atlas does, I imagine you might need to polish the trigger bar in a few spots because it’s so snug and might add weight to your pull unless you welcome the weight.

Thanks for watching and thanks for the comment! This platform has been around for a long time and despite the brand names these prodigy’s are the same as STI’s and HiCap and all the other 2011s there’s nothing new going on here. It’s just a gun that’s $1,500 that other companies have been charging $2800-$6800 for a long time. The main platform has been around for over 100 years and it’s simply been updated to accommodate a double stack mag.

@@americantrucker9813 2011 has been around since the 90s. If you think they’re all built the same idk what to say. It’s like me claiming my Staccato is the same as an Atlas, Infinity, Chambers Custom, Nighthawk etc. Staccato is the least expensive 2011 made that has all machined billet internals. The higher you go in price the better parts and more hand fitting you get which is what drives up the price. When you remove those from the equation you end up with a coin flip on reliability. They’ll never be Glock where you assemble them like Legos and they. You want one that’ll last generations and eat 100,000 rounds the price will be steep. Having said that the Prodigy that has issues can be upgraded by a competent 2011/1911 gunsmith with quality hand fitted parts. The slides and frames seem to be solid. Fortunately yours is working well out of the box. It fills a void in the market at a lower price point. Having shot several high end 2011s I don’t understand how anyone could say they’re all the same. Regardless good video and keep up the nice work.

@@americantrucker9813 I subbed! Quick note, for those of us in States that limit mags to 15, no one on YT has clarified what magazines will work for this model. Something you might consider? As a SA owner, I really appreciated your clarity on all of the negative commentary and chatter. Thanks and keep it up the casual candor on film. It’s nice to see someone in this subject area that’s relaxed and not overdoing it 👍

I appreciate the kind works and for subbing, I can definitely do that probably tomorrow if that works and honestly I didn’t plan on this channel but felt I had to because so many people were trashing on SA to get attention and I wanted people to hear an honest review from someone with no dog in the fight.

I think some of them even admit that! I have seen some crazy comments on my channel for simply simply just shared my experience. You also have to consider all of the people who spent $6000 on another brand and then this gun comes out for a fraction of the price not even to mention how the businesses might feel about having a competitor selling the same thing so much cheaper! Which I understand that sucks but I’m not mad about it because now we can afford it without selling our liver!
