So I found this video right before my Prodigy arrived, I haven't had a chance to shoot it yet but I did polish a few things such as the disconnector ramp and did this extractor test. Mine does not move at all, I must have shook it 30+ times and even bounced it off a rubber mat, no movement lol. I did order a W.C. extractor for it, haven't tested it yet but want to get to the range and break it in before I go messing with tuning.

That’s super common ! Your prodigy will not Feed & function properly with an out of tune extractor! You did the right thing by ordering a new one I keep extra everything just in case but I’ve got new Wilson combat extractors that were out of tune so make sure you check, it’s very easy to tune yourself and once you learn how you’ll be good to go forever because that empowers you to keep your gun squared away & not rely on anyone but you. You should pull yours out and bend it outwards towards the ejection side (if the extractor was installed) and throw it in and check again and so on, once your prodigy is tuned it will RUN like a sewing machine! Sincerely, the most reliable firearm I have ever owned!

Also turn your extractor to the Brand of ammo you shoot. I found I tuned to brand A ,and then tried Brand B to find out brand B would fall loose from extractor. Not all case heads are the same. Thanks for your time to help others. God Bless.

Indeed a good point my friend, I didn’t even Realize at the time of this video how dramatic the Specs varies between Ammo manufacturers because I shoot Only a couple brands of Target ammo that are very similar and Almost all Personal Protection ammo will be similar & on the side of Smaller specs to ensure seating into Barrel chamber. After 10s of thousands of rounds of ammunition I discovered my prodigy Chamber was reamed To a smaller diameter than the Atlas Chamber but as I learned with my Atlas If your Chamber is reamed to accommodate the Ammo It will accommodate a tight Extractor so Tune the Extractor to the smallest diameter ammo you run & ream your chamber to the largest & it will run it all flawlessly! Thanks again my friend & God Bless You & Yours

Well... Curious if I should mess with mine or not. When I push a case in under the extractor it doesn't hold it at all, falls right out. But I'm also not having malfunctions with my Prodigy, and it's fully built with all new parts except the only stock parts are the ejector and extractor

That is interesting, but I imagine yours was loose but working and it may have gotten looser as you shot it. In any event I think you should definitely tune yours because these guns are so awesome when they are tuned properly and they can be the most reliable guns on the market, but they are not tuned properly then none of the above. There are a ton of videos on the extractor, if my doesn’t give you the confidence you need to go check out Atlas Goodworks videos, or Wilson combat.

Too tight is a problem and causes a certain type of failure to feed. Too loose is a problem and causes ejection problems. You want it in the sweet spot of not too tight and not too loose.

Agreed my friend, which is why I promote everyone learning, & tuning & adjusting their own guns because nothing is fast than going to a closed range and getting instant feedback

From the factory my 4.25” was ejecting right into my red dot making my spent casing drip back into the breech causing a stoppage. Did it test and it took like 18 shakes. Adjust the extractor to 6-8 shakes and it’s doing a little better. Still hitting the red dot but actually bouncing off to the right and away from the pistol. Think I should loosen it a tad more?

I would definitely loosen some more but keep in mind after you adjust it may self adjust after say 100 rounds so you might end up having to tighten it but your on the right track and I’m sorry your having issues and I hope you get it squared away !

I’d like to add for those of you who are doing this. If it needs adjustment make sure to put the firing pin plate back on the gun after you have checked the tension otherwise the extractor.will move and you won’t be getting a good assessment. Common sense yes but for noobs not so much.

thanks man! Im still waiting on mine to get back from repair. by chance did you put the EGW kit in your prodigy and if so did you polish anything? I have the kit sitting in front of me (for my staccato) and it looks pretty flawless.

Your welcome & yes I run the EGW kit in my prodigy and I didn’t polish it but I did polish the EGW kit in my Atlas because it was supposed to be polished and any difference isn’t quantifiable at least in my opinion but the atlas breaks at 2.5lbs consistently with more weight on the sear spring than my prodigy which breaks at 3Lbs. Although I do not think the EGW kit has anything to do with it. The atlas has pretty big tolerances in the sear channel so basically the sear and disconnector doesn’t touch the sides of the frame while the prodigies, even after sand blasting and polishing the frame sear and disconnector fit snug or more snug than the atlas so if I had to guess this added friction from the frame causes the heavier break
