The warden showed me a spot where they hibernate a few years ago and I came across another nearby, they are out 2 weeks earlier than last year. One day last year I counted 22 enjoying the sun. Usually a couple of slow worms here too but no sign of them yet. Take care. Mick

These 3 were out 2 weeks earlier than last year. The next few weeks should see lots more at these two spots. Last year the most I counted here was 22. They seem to be doing very well these last couple of years. Take care. Mick.

Cheers Geordie it helps when you know the spots where they hang out lol. I want to get them doing their courtship dance, but it's rarely seen, so I'm not holding out much hope. Take care. Mick.

Oh that’s a big one, my wife nearly stood on one last year when we were out and about 😮

They seem to be thriving in certain parts of The Cheviots so always a concern someone might get bitten, I had to warn some dog walkers last year that their dogs were near several adders. Thankfully they are quite shy and tend to move off if they hear you coming. Take care. Mick.

Thank you, Maria, yes adders our only poisonous snake. Thankfully they are shy and tend to move off if disturbed. Take care. Mick.
