Does the app have a function for being able to choose a certain point of the song to play? You know, the little progress bar that shoes how far in the song is and how you can move it back and forth? Is that anywhere on the app? or even on the watch itself anywhere?

Thank you for doing this....4 years ago! Lol, I just got the 6pro solar, but I don't have any of those first screens to add music. Mine just shows music controls straight away, and has not options to add music, although I did the Spotify on the Garmin app, connected to wifi, etc. Have you any suggestions in this situation?

Absolutely Lovin my Fenix 5x plus Titanium, measures everything and does everything I could ever want in a serious fitness/ smartwatch, and it looks the part too 👍 good job Garmin

Hey Ray. Thanks for doing what you do. All really useful stuff. I was just wondering if you (or anyone else) had an opinion on the Tactix Charlie? I'm torn between that and the 5x plus. I'm not really interested in garmin pay, music or pulse ox. I just want a robust smart watch with a reliable heart rate monitor. The training monitoring and sleep monitoring is something I'd use a lot. I do a lot of cycling (mountain, road, cyclocross/gravel) in pretty remote, wet and muddy conditions (Wales, UK) I prefer the looks of the tactix but I don't want to miss out on the possible hardware and software upgrades of the new plus watches. Cheers

Hi Ray. The music makes perfect addition to the Fénix 5X plus but what about the swimming GPS tracking issue? Do you think that’s a software issue they can fix in the future or a hardware which is unlikely to get fixed.

The original 5X (non- 5X Plus) was never designed as a music watch, which is why it's not coming to that unit. Only the 5 Plus series has had music from the start.

Does it work with spotify connect?

Could you still control music playing on your phone (spotify) with your watch? I havent figured it out yet....in short, if i have music playing on my phone, can i chage the track and volume with my watch? my old garmin fenix3 HR could and i loved that.....

Not for streaming services like Spotify unfortunately. They all have to sync over WiFi when on Garmin devices. :-/

So is there any way of fast forwarding inside a song? eg if I'm halfway through an hour long podcast on another device, do I have to start at the beginning or can it skip to 30 minutes in?

What you really want to know is that 99% of the times it doesn´t download or update your playlists. And neither Garmin nor Spotify seem very worried at all, the forums have been reporting this for months.

Man I like my 935, but I really regret buying it right before Garmin started dropping music enabled watches. This is a huge extra feature.

Exactly my case. Tired of waiting for Garmin to get into music, so I got the 935 a year ago. Sold it and bought the Fenix 5 plus. Happy now 😊

How much play time does the battery life support? 6 hrs? More? Less?

Many people had problem with connecting to their home wi-fi (Vivoactive 4). It seems that the SSID cannot be hidden. I had to create a 2nd SSID (guest WiFi) in order to connect my Garmin to my home WiFi. Could also connect to my phone's hot spot too.

It is. It's listed on the press release and app details from Garmin.

When I log in to Spotify on my phone I get a notification saying “we had trouble logging you in” and I am unable to log in. Is this a problem anybody else has had and knows how to fix?

Garmin says "More models will be supported soon", and given they only have two other models (FR645 and Vivoactive 3 Music), it's a fair bet you'll see it on both. Garmin also notes that they want the capabilities of their music-enabled devices to be equal from a music standpoint.

Because of limited replies, and plenty of issues. For example, I have Spotify account and Garmin Connect IQ, but can't find the Spotify app in Garmin Connect IQ, as DC Rain suggests, rendering this entire video a useless waste of time.

So can u use your cell as the WiFi When u go running ect do u have to keep it linked to your cell to keep playing your list on Spotify

Not sure on the PowerBeats specifically, but any audio device that has controls will work. All of my headphones work to control skip/volume.

can we used another stream services rather than Spotify??

SO I originally put music on my watch library, before setting up Spotify. Used it no problem. Then I opened spotify, downloaded some of my playlists and used it. The only library that shows is in my Spotify. Is it true you cant now go back to your regular downloaded music on the watch. I think I read you have to close the app. There is no such method. There is a logoff button with a warning that all content will be lost. So basically I have to upload every time I toggle between the music library and spotify library? Am I missing something?

Can I use this this to control spotify on my phone via bluetooth? I rarely have Wifi available when Im running.

Trevor Bohnsack yeah I mean... can you get the GCN or GTN shows on spotify? I think not! I could be wrong of course, but there will always be a huge chunk of content on youtube that can be enjoyed just fine without audio, but that also will never show up in places like spotify.

Maybe I missed it in the video (I somehow missed it the first time reading the blog), but worth noting that you need a paid Spotify account to use this app.

I have garmin 745 i did everything to get the spotify music in the damn watch and i get always ( syncing failed )

watching this in 2021 i just hope they update their watches this year to wear lte and being able to use spotify without downloading songs or using a smartwatch, otherwise you have to die into apple watches, and in terms of exercise suunto and garmin and way better, (also in battery life). In the end all i want is spotify in a nice useful sport watch.

No, it does not. Only the Pro model has the needed storage for music.

It’ll definitely come to lower end watches like the 645 and Vivoactice 3 Music. But the first series Fenix 5 units don’t have the storage for it.

Shawn P if you use an Android phone then there is an apps called “G playlist” which allow you to do some basic control for Spotify. It, however, do not have such details selection of which playlist to play as the latest update from Garmin. But it worth trying

For the most past, when it comes to banks it’s actually more about consumers asking their banks rather than asking Garmin. Certainly asking Garmin helps to ensure your bank is on their radar, but ultimate it’s 99.9999% of the time the bank itself that’s holding back. By having consumers apply pressure to their banks, it lets them know it matters and will be a higher priority to get integrated.

I just opened a current account with Santander and keep about £50 in it, so I can use Garmin Pay. If you choose no overdraft, you can set it up online in about 10 minutes. Why not just do that?

When searching for wifi network it says incorrect password all the time. And I know for sure that I filled in the right password. Can somebody help me out with this?

You need to ensure your Fenix 5+ unit is up to date (firmware 5.00 or higher, but ideally 5.10). Otherwise it won't show up.

1) Yeah, my actual elevation is basically sea-level give or take a few feet - many watches have problems with it in Amsterdam. 2) Vivoactive 3 Music has WiFi. 3) My Spotify playlists? 4) Sorry, don't understand? 5) I'm in Canada today for travel, and it is indeed unfortunately snowing. Assuming you're referring to the Fenix 5s Plus, then yup! The non-Plus Fenix 5s doesn't have any space on it for music, but the newer Plus series does. No phone required beyond initial setup.
