On the roof of the Gallerie Lafayette (sp?) in Regent Street we see champion tennis player Suzanne Lenglen demonstrating her different tennis racquet grips and tennis strokes to a small watching crowd. Commentator Charles Eade describes practice techniques as we see Suzanne hitting a tennis ball against a wall. Several slow motion shots show Suzanne's skill in detail.

    For the technology of the day, her strokes were likely very effective. I heard that her father trained her to be extremely accurate with ball placement. Her father drilled her endlessly. However, her backhand was relatively weak compared to today's two-handed backhands. She was also famous for drinking alcohol during matches. She refused to play in the U.S. until she got an exemption from Prohibition. She was such a draw, she got the exemption.
