I’ve concluded that all tennis fans are not created equally! Enjoying tennis history gives you the big picture of the WTA, the ATP, and the evolution of the game we love. Well done...

Bill Tilden, who knew both women, said that Mallory played extremely well and was beating Lenglen handily, when Lenglen begged off. Mallory was a great champion in her own right, with a powerful forehand. Tilden thought that Lenglen was a wonderful player with great tactics, but didn't think that she was that much better than her competition. I don't know what to think about that. Lenglen had an incredible record, winning for years at a time, but she barely beat 40 year-old Dorothy Lambert Chambers in 1919 at Wimbledon. Her first and only match against an up and coming Helen Wills, was also very close. Did she turn pro because she wanted the money (which she definitely did), or was part of it because she didn't want to play stiff competition?

Can you believe that Nadal has a better record than someone like Lenglen? In The 21st century with professional tennis and players coming from every corner of the world. Simply breathtaking...

The fields today are relatively weak, that makes it easier to win majors.

@@musicmasterplayer4532 lol😆😆 Nearly 150 countries playing tennis today. How many countries playing tennis during Lenglen's days? May 4 or 5. How many women's playing tennis during Lenglen's times? Not more than 100 for sure.

@@rajusaha855 Lenglen could handle anyone today. 100? No, way more than that for sure. They did not have too many full time women players, but the best then were top notch.

@@musicmasterplayer4532 no,you are wrong depth were not there. She hardly had any world class rival. Atleast Helen wills played against tough field that's including Helen Jacobs, Anita Lizana, Kitty Godfrey, Simone Mathieu, Alice marble, Molla Mallory. Remember Lenglen literally quit against Mallory in 1921 us open when whole crowd boos. Lenglen never tested herself against the best unlike Helen wills. So for me Helen wills was the greatest of that era.
