Kyle - The main flaw is that they did not do the same type of punch on the dummy. The man did what looked like a left straight. The woman did something more like a left hook with more body rotation which is a stronger punch. Yes, we know that women can hit hard with proper technique.... but the experiment was to see if a man and woman of similar weight and fitness would generate the same power and for that you need to compare the same punches. They basically "rigged" this just to have the wow factor of the woman having the higher number.

Kyle Vacca the female (one of the greatest females ever ) got her ass handed to her by an average pro male kickboxer. This equality bs has gone too far , males outperform females at every sport period, there’s no way a female can generate more power than a male.

  • @IceCreeeaaam

...come on. Listen, I ain't got a problem with female athletes showcasing their abilities and I praise their achievements but let's not just make up phoney experiments to gain biased data. Have enough respect for females to not give them unfair advantages just so they can "win". Firstly, Lucia is considered one of the greatest female boxers of all time. Moe is relatively unknown (certainly not close to among the greats). Secondly, Lucia threw a big haymaker. Moe threw a straight left. Maybe that was Moe's bad choice or maybe it was rigged, I don't know. But there's a big difference with the amount of power you can generate between those punches. Finally, even when compared to the MMA fighter (another biased variable) he was throwing a straight right rather than the haymaker she threw. Don't get me wrong she's a fierce and brilliant woman who can throw harder than me and most men but this experiment was ridiculous. Men on average in comparison to equally qualified women can punch harder. It's nothing for women to be ashamed of it's just the biological make up of humans. Let's stop pretending shit is something it isn't.

I agree, I sure wouldn't want to be hit by her and have no problems saying she's awesome. The show itself however I have issues with, with a name like Sports SCIENCE, one would think they would be big on the scientific method. They should all use the same punch under the same conditions. I watched one of the shows where they have all the other martial arts punch, and the muay thai guy throws a fucking knee. Like karate doesn't have knees?

+rainbow vision It looked like the same kind of punch to me except the girl stepped with hers from the opposite stance. The most accurate way to compare would be for them to measure the power of all their specific techniques but I think the point is they both can generate a large amount of force, despite her being female. Well actually looking at it again I see the guy throwing a overhand type of punch, still not the same as the punch the girl threw but a more powerful type of punch than a jab.

The method: both when they punched the guy and when they hit the dummy with the sensor the fighters used different techniques. Each punch has its use and some are more powerful than others. The female fighter, against the man threw a step in cross. The male fighter threw short hooks to the body off his lead side. Those punches from the same fighter would have a drastic difference in power. The female used a more powerful punch to make a qualitatively equal punch. Against the dummy the female fighter used a step in hook that, due to how wide she threw it, is more akin to a haymaker or overhand. Both are straight up knock out punches. The male threw a cross from a fixed stance. It’s a pretty powerful punch but not even close to the same amount of power. In short the female fighter used a longer kinetic chain to generate more force/kinetic energy. This is not an apple to apples comparison and I think any competent fighter would agree with me. Even the MMA fighter (Huston Alexander) used to fight at 205lbs which means he probably walked around at 220-230. The punch he threw was a short cross with a nearly even stance which would take some of the distance and therefore acceleration off of the punch. Before anyone says it’s the mans fault for not using a better technique, it is up to the people running to study to control for all variables when possible. They had the ability to dictate which punch was thrown to make sure it was an equal comparison. Instead they had a female fighter throwing more powerful punches than a man to favor her in the results. This is dishonest science. So what conclusion is to be drawn from this? If they’re making the case that men and woman hit equally hard then if we were to take their results at face value (which I’ve discussed why we shouldn’t) does this mean the UFC should integrate female divisions into the corresponding male weight classes? Should their be a fight between Amanda Nunes and AJ Sterling to determine the 135lbs champ? Because based on this video that would be the logical conclusion. That woman actually hit harder than men so men are at a disadvantage so the women should be fine. If a 140 lbs woman hits as hard as a 220lbs man then what’s the big deal if woman fight with men in MMA, boxing, or kickboxing/Muay Thai?

OH BULL-FUCKING-SHIT 1. She is using gloves that are WAY smaller and lighter than he is 2. She's hitting second and in the same spot so OBVIOUSLY her punch is going to hurt more 3. The whole test is fucked since the male boxer lets out a very masculine grunt when he punches, letting the 'punching bag' know he's the male test subject. A far superior test to this would be to pull 50 average men and 50 average women off the street and have them punch a machine that measures the kinetic energy released my their punches, then work out an average for each gender, then compare them. This test fucking sucks.

Alexander Anderson 1. Exactly what part of my argument gave you that idea? Do you honestly disagree? Because, well, I don't know about you, but I've been a boxer for a while, and I can say for certain that this test is bullshit and completely weighted in the female boxer's favour. 2. Coming from someone who got his ass kicked by Alucard I'd say your stance on fighting is pretty doubtable.

  • @GuyInAHotdogSuit69

    1. No need to be a douche about it 2. It's not like I'm writing an opinion-piece here where you can disagree with me on a philosophical basis, nor are you making any sort of counter-argument beyond "You don't know shit about fighting", which itself is a completely baseless claim. You say I know nothing about fighting, while that isn't true even if I weren't a fighter myself the facts still stand. Do I have to repeat myself? Her gloves ARE smaller and lighter, therefore her punch WILL hurt more, she IS hitting after the male fighter, and in the same place, therefore it WILL hurt more, and the guy grunts so he DOES give away his identity as the male fighter. These aren't really points you can argue against and I think the 22 people that liked this post would agree, I DO know shit about fighting, but even my mother who's never thrown a punch in her life would tell you this test heavily favours the female fighter in an unfair way. All the points I made are completely and indisputably valid and if you disagree with any of them I'd like to hear your counter-points, please, tell me WHY you think I'm wrong instead of insulting me for no goddamn reason. Tell me why you think I'm wrong and why you think I know nothing about fighting. 3.Anderson was a child-fondling weakling that Alucard could easily have cut down 1000 times. His decision to forgo guns was his own, so it can't be blamed for his loss. He was weaker, pure and simple.

Not sure why this is scientific, when the obvious is: She had smaller gloves and threw a completely different type of punch. The men were using a jab while she used her whole body to throw a left hook. Of course the power punch is going to be stronger, make both of them throw the same type of punch. Seems they really wanted to prove that women punch has hard as men, and used their blend of science to enforce equality. If you really believe this shit, or that women are as powerful as men - and are for equality based off this, let's get those women into the mens division ASAP, people might actually watch 140lb and less divisions if this were the case. I dont foresee very many women in the top 20 though, so dont get your hopes up.

***** the only one not knowing what they are talking about is you. yes they are smaller gloves with less padding. so two principles are at work, the padding is used to absorb power, also less padding makes them lighter, which therefore allows you to throw your hands at a faster rate. the faster you can throw the same object the harder it will hit. now before you start saying the sexist b.s. understand this I train both women and men in judo and mma and I have always said I will fight a man before I would ever fight a girl they make up for the lack of size in many other ways. so in your own response you have stated that they are not throwing the same punch to even out the power. so therefore in the debate of who hits harder men or women it is a flawed experiment.

Why they didn't mention about punch track distance, it's general physic. Her punch travelling much longer than other guys, it's so different like a falling from high or low altitudes. If there was a camera on the top we would see clearly some curved motion from her hand that lengthening punch distance. These guys used just their arm power and elbow motion not their hole body and they throw their punch from very short distance. It means their punch distance was not enough to accelerate punch. If these guys punched like a her technique, obviously it will be powerful than her punch. Even though this punch is powerful, in the action it will be more easy to dodge than punch of two other guys.

that shit was rigged she was allowed to throw all her weight in her punch and a hook while the guy only threw a jab and with the back of the head thing yeah that's rigged she throws a hard punch but come on that's just dumb how they basically handicapped the dude and made him look like a bitch to

yea right so you compare a right cross with right hook shot? hook is way more powerfull and she was using evry advantige she could as well like the enrgy from the feet and the energy from the ground and her hips while the guy pubched with just his arm and shoulder and punched using cross yea nice sience there

Obviously she's as tough as they come but thats not science. A hook and a straight are totally different. They should have been made to throw the same style of punch.

When he hits the dummy the back head plate is missing, when she hits it it's on...all for dramatic effect. Like she "broke" the dummy. Lol oh these actors are cute.

The look in Lucia's face as she punches the dummy is awesome. Almost makes me think her extra power comes from her emotions...well, that and her swing style. Agreed with other commenters: the test is BS due to different techniques, but still fun to watch, so I like this episode anyway.

la fuerza depende de el movimiento correcto, no es solo tira con el brazo, depende el movimiento de los pies, cintura y como empuja el cuerpo, eso hace una potencia en el golpe, algo que parece que el boxeador olímpico no sabe hacer
