Thank you Markét! Very useful video with great explanation. You are the best teacher! After I finish my work, I leave my workplace and go home. After I come home, I always cook some delicious meal.

Good evening, Markét, thank you for making this video. I think that it completely changes the level of my sentences, because I always used to employ a wrong tense in this situation. When I come home, I drink a coffee. Until you write the homework, you can't go out. Take care!😃

Great to hear from you again, dear Jana. If you keep going like this, I'm afraid you'll have no more videos to watch soon. 🤩 Thank you for doing your homework. Well done! Just one thing to correct here: When I come home, I'll have (a cup of) coffee. (Až přijdu domů, dám si kávu.) Your sentence is correct too, but the meaning is a bit different: Když přijdu domů, dávám si kávu. 🙃 Take care, Markét 😘

Hi Markét, what a great video! I would like to ask about using ONCE as conjuction in a similar meaning. Once I started listening to podcasts, my listening skills improved. And I checked some examples, they don't use the past perfect much there.... hmmm. seems it is usually used with the past tenses... až/když v minulosti... Am I right? Or can I also use Once I get there, I will call you? because I use it quite often, so I would like to know if I should stop :-D .

Hi there, Lenka, I'm pleased you found this video helpful. Thanks for watching and commenting! 🤩 You're right, once and when are pretty similar in their meaning. I'd say once is pretty much a synonym of "as soon as (jakmile, hned jak)" and it expresses the idea of a condition or event that must occur before another action or event can take place. You could say: Once you finish your homework, you can play outside. / As soon as you finish your homework, you can play outside. / When you finish your homework, you can play outside. / After you finish your homework, you can play outside... You can use once as a conjunction in many different grammatical tenses: Once you finish your homework, you can play outside. (přítomný) Once you have made your decision, let me know. (předpřítomný) Once it stopped raining, we went for a walk. (minulý) Once we had completed the project, we celebrated our success. (předminulý) Hope that makes more sense now. Take care! 🤩
