Was lucky enough to ride this version over the past week and my gosh what a huge difference working effects and animatronics makes in overall ride experience! There's one animatronic missing. There's supposed to be a dog with a comically deep voice on the boat at 5:19. It was also missing when I went on it, but it took me a second ridethrough to notice. It's a really good thing they would rather have everything inside working perfectly rather than having one broken element visible

I was just there. I had my vintage Br’er rabbit plush I bought from eBay in 2020. No more Splash Mountain merch they can keep the ride but can’t sell merch or have the characters out unfortunately but at least the ride will stay. Cast members and guests both last year and this year fawned over the plush. I always got row 1. Splash Mountain and Usagidon (Br’er Rabbit) is treasured it’s not just something on a hot day in Japan. Love Tokyo Disney and thank you Oriental Land Company for continuing to stand up to the pressure of the Walt Disney Company to change the ride!

Tony Baxter was a genius! This is a masterpiece of an attraction complete with a masterful storyline, lovable protagonist, clumsy antagonist and a wonderful supporting cast of characters. This is a mini movie with a beginning, middle and end. Even with the A1000 animatronics, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure cannot and will not ever hold a candle to this classic. Kudos to Tokyo for not giving in to the whims of a few lunatics with an agenda!!! This move has definitely convinced us to visit Tokyo Disneyland and soon.

  • @davidsongood2627

This is a significantly better attraction that Tiana’s. 2 reasons. Number 1, the music is just miles better. Is there some nostalgia, of course, but the music right after the drop at 10:44 simply cannot be touched in any capacity by Tiana’s. Second, there is fear generated in this ride. Kids may complain about being scared, but at the end of the day, they all want to feel a sense of accomplishment once they pass the “rite of passage” of splash mountain. The buildup to the drop where you genuinely feel fear is just not there at all in Tiana’s. Splash mountain is also just an iconic and better name for the ride. It’s so iconic that people would consistently call other flume rides around the world “splash mountain”. Heck, when I was typing that my phone autofilled “mountain” after splash. This was a mistake by Disney’s part. No one thought the ride was racist. Not a single person but Disney themselves.

This is the thing, Why did we not just get... new animatronics to replace the old ones? This ride was perfectly fine and they could've easily just... I don't know redone these characters to a new cartoon or something.

Why is Song of South, the first movie with a black actor and main character banned for racism and yet Gone of the Wind isn’t? Gone of the wind glorified the old south and slavery. It has a white female character has the main character and is filled with a lot of bad negative stereotypes.

Fun fact: the TDL version of Splash Mountain was designed by imagineering first. The Florida version was designed shortly after and many elements from Tokyo were brought over to Florida including "FSU!" and the double seater logs.

@@katef96 they were constructed at the same time, but development and conceptualization for Florida started after Tokyo finished. It was much faster because they essentially just took a bunch of concepts from Tokyo and made some changes to make the ride fit in Florida's Frontierland. A former imagineer who worked on the Tokyo project confirmed this.

It’s pretty sad to see what used to be in America and how it’s so much better then what’s in the US now. Tiana’s has a ambas story with no sense of thrill or danger. All because they didn’t want to offend or scare people.

How are animals racists? They aren’t the same species. The live action isn’t half as racists as Gone with wind. It is racist because it offends bigots to see black culture as American . The Princess and frog has a mixed race prince? Or, replacing this ride instead making an original ride for Tiana, was cheaper? Need to sell merchandise?
