    Fun fact: the reason why the train only has one station is because by Japanese law, any train ride that has more than 2 stations are legally required to set fare and get proper license!

    That’s a great fun fact! I heard this before too, but at DisneySea the electric railway has 2 stations. I think the law was in place when Tokyo Disneyland was built but no longer applies?

  • @takepan631

    @takepan631

    8 ай бұрын

    @@8bitthemepark Yes! This law has been abolished in 1987, allowing Oriental Land to create Electric Railway in Disneysea. (Apparently it wasn't enforced in some part of the country anyway, it was just that the law was more strictly enforced in some part of the country) Quote from the Wikipedia "At the time that the Western River Railroad was opened, Japanese rail regulations required that any railway line with more than one stop be subject to the same rules as any other conventional rail line, which included running on a timetable and collecting fares; this law was later abolished on April 1, 1987. As such, there is only one stop on the Western River Railroad in order to avoid having to charge fares and to allow the use of passenger cars that are not fully enclosed, which would not be allowed otherwise."

    Thanks for looking that up! Certainly is an odd little bit of trivia. You’d think the price of admission would cover it but hey. Honestly I like the Western River Railroad the way it is and I think the park’s better for it being it’s own standalone attraction (trains don’t belong in Tomorrowland!)

    I heard that was the reason behind charging people to ride the monorail, though that’s probably also why tickets to ride are fairly cheap.

    @@UmmYeahOkI heard that too, but as @takepan631 pointed out, the law was abolished in 1987. Charging for the Monorail seems to have simply been a choice.

    Splash Mountain has always been not only my favourite attraction of all time but my favourite thing, so I couldn’t agree more! I teared up riding it this summer, as it means so much to me and knowing the laughing place was here to stay in Tokyo and looked better than I’d ever seen it meant a lot! It’s the perfect Disney attraction, larger than life set pieces, colourful characters, animatronics, a great story and thrills. It’s just perfect! Also fell in love with Tony Solaroni and while his show doesn’t count as a ride it was honestly my highlight of my trip! Underrated ‘attraction’ with no wait! Love that little guy!

    Yes we’re very fortunate that Tokyo’s is staying because it’s best one!! This was THE ride when I was growing up so it has a lot of sentimental value for me too. I’m so grateful that I’m able to ride it with my daughter. Tony is the GREATEST I’ll probably do a whole video about him at some point

  • @erinmontgomery11

    I'm surprised to see Baymax so low! True that the actual ride mechanics are basic but it takes the turns surprisingly hard. And the lines may be long but I never feel like I'm just stuck waiting in them cause of the soundtrack. I had so much fun watching videos online to prepare and learn all 6 dances (even though they're mostly just waving your arms back and forth until the chorus), and the vibes with others dancing is just the best! The fans of this ride are so lovely and welcoming too, if you go without knowing the dance but want to learn, you can copy their moves, but a lot of people are happy to help you out and teach you the moves too! I like going to dance on the side even if I'm not lining up to ride. It's a great last ride too, cause you'll get whole groups of people dancing by the ride fences around the end of the night that can hype you up as you ride!

    Fantastic video! I’m hoping to go to Tokyo Disneyland around four years from now for my 30th Birthday and when the new Space Mountain opens, and I found this video to be super informative! Since there’s a good chance that I won’t be back there for over a decade after I hopefully take this trip in 2027, I’ll most likely skip things like Stitch Encounter, The Happy Ride with Baymax, and since it’s the same as the American parks, but in Japanese Mickey’s Philharmagic. I’m so glad to see Splash Mountain as #1! As someone who’s only been to the six United States parks, Splash Mountain is my second favorite Disney attraction I’ve been on only behind Disneyland Pirates of the Caribbean. I actually just finished a Disney College Program at Walt Disney World and during it I rode Splash Mountain at Magic Kingdom almost 150 times including seven times on its last day. A few months later I even got to meet Tony Baxter who came up with it. I was obviously super bummed to lose both American Splash Mountains, but I’m beyond thankful that Tokyo has no interest in changing there’s and I just know that it will be so special when I hopefully get to reunite with Splash Mountain if I end up going to Tokyo Disneyland in September 2027 after almost five years since I last went on it!

    Thanks for the kind comment, I’m so glad the video was helpful to you! Yep Tokyo’s Splash is still one of the most popular rides in the park, it’s built into the entire land it’s in and there is zero controversy over the ride here, so I think it’ll be here for a long time. I hope you have an amazing trip here on your 30th!! Be sure to be subbed to the channel for lots more TDR videos in the future 😁

    So, in Paris, Stitch Encounter is called Stitch Live! and there is a French version AND an English version. They have a separate queue area for the two languages. It’s kind of fun, and I swear that replicated some of it at an outdoor stage show at WDW, because I remember the joke where they ask some kid “what planet they’re from,” and they say some city, state, or country, and their home planet is forever known as whatever that kid said. I read that the HKDL has an English version as well, or did, until it closed.

One crucial thing about Tokyo's version that I'm surprised you didn't mention was that it's the only CBJ to still have both the Summertime and Holiday overlays, both of which I love even more than the standard show!

    I definitely agree with most of this list. I'm actually really glad that someone else appreciates the Mark Twain as much as I do. The Rivers of America/Critter Country area is definitely the prettiest and most kinetic part of the park with Splash mountain, the train, the riverboat, and the canoes. Splash mountain is definitely unmatched. It's probably my favorite attraction in the resort. I also think the OLC knew that Space mountain was the weakest mountain out of the three (yet it's one of the better Space mountains out there), which is why they're rebuilding it. Personally, I don't think they're going to replace Splash mountain (as it's pretty much perfect), but rework Big thunder and the Westernland area next because that area has always been pretty weak especially since you can't even see the ride unless you take the railroad or queue up for it. They might even try to make a version of Big thunder better than the one in Paris. Hope this video performs well! It's definitely your best so far.

    Thanks for the kind words and lengthy comment! I thought I’d get laughed at for putting Mark Twain so high so I’m really relieved that someone agrees! Great points, but I think another reason they chose to redo Space Mountain is that it has a ton of room behind it, unfortunately there’s not really any room for expansion on the Westernland side of the park. But I’d love to see them redo Big Thunder someday!!

    @@8bitthemeparkin 2004 my family went to WDW without me!!! They brought me back a tie died shirt with Donald on one side, and his butt on the other. I’m a Donald fan, but never wore the shirt due to the negative memories I attached to it. 1) THEY FREAKING WENT TO WDW WITHOUT ME!!! 2) their trip was cut short because my grandmother passed away, but also 3) it replaced a beloved Legend of the Lion King puppet show attraction. It was so much superior in every way, and they basically replaced it with a movie, most likely because it was cheaper than paying an entire cast and crew to perform multiple showings. Last year however, I managed to get a duck butt headband. My local Disney Store is also a parks outlet, so I got a $5 duck butt! That’s one thing about the Japanese parks that I don’t understand. OLC has to pay Disney to license stuff… …yet their headbands are half the price of what they charge here in the US. US$40! Lots of stuff is way cheaper there!! You’d think it would be more expensive given the fact that not only do they need to profit, but they also have to give Disney their cut. The Disney Store is no better. The employees all know me, and understand that I essentially wait for things to go on sale. They know their full price stuff just sits on the shelves till then. Everything is just too overpriced!
